1st, the DA has a 98% conviction rate for DD cases. How is taking people's blood gonna stop drunk driving? How is it gonna keep DD deaths down?

2nd, cops are NOT allowed to punish people on the side of the road for invoking their RIGHTS. Juries determine punishments, NOT cops. This is punishment for refusal, nothing more. And it's cruel and unusual, to boot.

3rd, Everyone must obey the law, even the cops, and the Constitution is law!!!

I don't think cops should be taking blood but I can't see ONE legitimate reason to refuse a breath test. I don't drink and I'm not sympathetic to drunk drivers. I've seen TOO MANY PEOPLE THEY'VE MURDERED. Perhaps if you spent more time endorsing compulsory breath tests for suspects, I'd be more sympathetic. Death by Drunk is too serious.

Because some people want the state to be able to take blood whenever, for whatever they want. This is an incremental step they hope people will feel comfortable with, and when people acclimate they will take another. Then when scared shitless over some manufactured crisis, they expect you to acquiesce to the rest.

I'm in Lubbock, Texas and it's a dry city, you have to drive to the "Strip" outside of the city to buy alcohol but we have drunk drivers everywhere every day! I was walking to the Truck Stop down the road to buy some burritos at 4am last saturday and there was about 20 cop cars with their lights on blocking every street and 2 vehicles were smashed with bodies laying in the street with sheets laying over them, Cashiers told me that a drunk driver ran a red light and killed a car load of people.
