Everyone gets knocked out, with the possible exception of Fedor. Those uneducated fans who dismiss Faber for the KTFO he suffered also forget that Faber's opponent also suffered many defeats. If you fight the best, you are going to lose. Incidentally, the WEC is owned by the UFC, so Faber fighting at his unnatural weight of 155 would be a real possibility. I would love to see Penn vs Faber. And yes, Penn is still a great fighter. Let's not forget that GSP lost to Matt Serra. It happens.
Faber said he wont go UFC, idk why but hes said its not gonna happen, and Im a Faber fan but Penn would take him, more experience, better technique on the ground, Faber is just stronger but as we all know that only counts for so much, if they fought 10 times Penn-7 Faber-3
Agreed. I think the UFC should get a 145 and 135 division. I don't think Faber wants to go to 155 where overgrown fighters such as Diego Sanchez dehydrate themselves to make an unnaturally light weight. I'm in favor of same day or even same night weigh-ins to avoid these massive guys doing weight cuts then climbing in as much as 20 pounds heavier. But I also see the downside of that line of thinking.
I would love to see a 145 weight class, im not to knowladgeable about the 135 weight class but I know that there are some great fighters at 145 and the UFC would make BANK of off Faber vs. Brown 3....if they do adopt a 145 class I think it would make fighters like Faber more likely to move up to fight in other classes, moving up to 155 AND the UFC is a big leap, but if your already in the UFC moving up to fights isn't as big.
@gkdrummerboy Yep. For naturally light people like you, weigh-ins one hour before the fight would make sense. The only downside is that you would have people still dehydrating to make weight then getting pummeled in the cage. However, I suppose they would learn fast that it's a bad idea.
if pulver wanted to win again he'd have to take a step back and really look at his training and fighting style from the outside. He's older now so he'd have be way more strategic and fight very very intelligently to become a force again.
like if I were him I'd micro-analyze every component of my fighting game and compare it to other people - and figure out super specifically where I'm going wrong.
that would be really hard for him with all those brain cells killed off :-P
Kimbo is the only fighter that has his fights fixed the rest of mma is above that and it would be way to hard but kimbo does have his fights fixed hes a bad name for the sport and thats comming from me i bust my ass day in and day out in the gym imma amature fighter and i have been for 2 years it pisses me off to watch some street thug walk in and just become this big thig when i have to bust my ass
Keep doing your thing, then. Let that be your motive. Stay focused. That's what makes a fighter. People will eventually realize who's a real athlete and who isn't. You just said you bust your ass day in and day out...that's much more than some people can claim. When you have passion for a sport, you put your life into it and nothing else matters. Good luck in your future endeavors in MMA.
Urijah is the best fighter out there he just comes in the cage to prove it. he deserves the belt & to be champion because he works like a animal! hes a stud.
They are both tremendous fighters. I don't think Penn could readily loose the weight, and I've heard that Faber has a hard time gaining weight, so that would put Faber at a 10 lb disadvantage (about 7% of body weight at that level). However, as long as UFC has contracts that are exclusive, I don't see it happening.
being in mma myself, i really believe that no athlete in any professional sport trains as diversely and to excrucating perfection as mma fighters do , thats why i love the sport so much.
i agree tatguydoz. (at least about the backing up part) i don't believe it was fixed but pulver really should have went on the offensive whenever faber tripped or stumbled like that. i guess it just didnt occur to him.
Bottom line... Faber is the champ and there is no doubt about that... Pulver is a bad ass and a legend in the sport but Urijah proved that he is at a higher level than lil evil... Both guys are stand up bad asses and still have a future in the sport but as of now the featherweight champ is the California Kid.
i completely respect both fighters , but yeah it was wierd how jens didnt even seem like he was trying to win. He's not a pussy though he wouldnt throw a fight. He probably was just to tired to throw punches. (it was amazing though how many shots to the chin he took without going down)
He tried, what he may have done, based on some of the glimpses we got into the pre-fight hype, is get bogged down on too much strength training and not enough quickness training. Faber was just too quick for 'em.
Then again, Pulver has improved his groundfighting immensely since he lost to BJ Penn.
yea i gotta agree with most of u guys, it was weird watching this fight because it seemed like pulver had no snap on his punches and hes was very hesitate. if i find out mma is as corrupt as boxing....its a done deal. im not wathing this shit anymore
The fights on the Major Network the night B4is what pissed me off, the one featuring Kimbo Slice. Not one, but TWO fights that were good ones got stopped by a controversial reason. MMA still has a better ratio of good fights compared to Boxing, which has screwy decisons MOST of the time...Back 2 WEC--Torres' fight was incredible. Only one was dissappointing was Razor Rob's.
Faber has lost all repect with me. Pulver threw fight, who knows why, maybe gangsters betting on fight. But he backed off every time Faber's head was turned away. It was a fixed fight - WEC if fixed, Pulver is clearly the better fighter and tougher. Faber sucks.
did you see pulver face? he better get a lot of money for taking all those punches... Faber was to quick and had to good condition.. faber was hurt to, in a fixed fight, you dont try to knock out the quy you are getting paid to loose againe
pulver repeatedly hit with an open hand so he would'nt hurt faber watch it again if you can't see it, u know nothing about MMA .
u dont just forget how to be a fighter . which is what pulver did . hit with open hands never throws an elbow , on the ground pulver pretended to elbow faber but u clearly see it was his forearm not elbow.he had side mount faber totaly exposed and never threw a punch or elbow. If you know MMA you know this kid is'nt a real mma fighter but someones face of the sport
Maybe he broke his hand again or his training methods were TOO fucked up and he injured his hand in training. Geezus, some spped drills with his feet, body movement would've helped Jens. He was just was a step slow. Did good on the ground, though. Faber was quite impressive. Gotsta give the Devil his due.
Wow, I actually loved that fight, but when i go back and see how jens used to fight, i actually think that Jens got some money to loose... I am really disappointment. .. I take back what I said earlier.. :(
quit listening to the hype and watch faber ,if you know anything about fighting you'll see he's not good at all, a true puncher (which pulver is) would destroy this kid watch his hands how he holds his head durring the fight not very ec. at all,on the ground he was totally exposed but pulver never hit him at one point pulver looked like his instintcs took over and he got ready to elbow him on the ground but pulled it back when he remembered he was'nt suposed to win
faber didnt have a mark on him this fixed fight was done to give cediblity to wec and faber by having him fight a proven fighter watch it again pulver repeatedly pulls punches he has faber down in side mount and faber is clearlt exposed but pulver never hits or throws an elbow. watch this fight then watch any other pulver fight you'll see.
His only two 'real' challengers since getting beat by Tyson Griffon, sure, but Curran and Pulver are two UFC legends who fought at 155. Chokes out a Gracie blackbelt then thoroughly out strikes a k.o. king on his feet. Faber is quite impressive.
Plus by bringing more ``known`` fighters to the WEC it'll spark interest in others attempting to gain the spotlight and may spark great bouts. Though that's just my feeling about it. Dana seems like he's leaving WEC dry just by giving you C+ bouts, good enough for FREE TV.
Funny how UFC and WEC is owned by Zuffa yet Dana wants the UFC to remain the TOP. Whynot pull what WWE did with RAW, Smackdown and ECW. The WEC is a good way for older fighters such as Tito Ortiz to go down and and prove himself yet again despite his loss to Machida. Same goes for other UFC-Vets. Don't tell me Jens Pulver is the only one. The WEC has vast amount of potential, but not UFC caliber.
haha you have a point but you forget dana hates tito but you make a decent point..and tito in my opinion doesn't deserve a second chance..he doesn't fill like fighting anymore
My view on this: Urijah Faber will kick his ASS!!! & even if Jens manages to get an upper hand, it won't last much more than a few seconds; you may be a UFC Legend, but this is WEC territory, so you really can't prepare yourself. New territory, new rules, BITCH!
I didn't mean "new rules" as in it was like a surgeon taking on agriculture, just a quick rant. And yes, i know Dana White is the president of the UFC & owns WEC. I'm just saying that I feel that Jens doesn't really seem as commited as Urijah, & personally, I think Jens has a bit more to go before he can beat Urijah.
WEC has the TOP fighters at 135 and 145 (maybe the organization that Fedor fights in w/ mostly Russians & Japanese has those weight classes?) because the UFC has no belt for those weights. The other WEC weight classes is a step down from UFC; WEC has no Heavyweight division...
NOT TRUE as Pulver would destroy anyone else in the Featherweight divison besides Faber and is the only guy in the WEC to go past 2 rounds with 'em---going all 5, in fact...
Faber will crush him , this will not be a competitive fight . This will be complete domination of Jens . I say Faber in round 2 , but it could easily be a first round stoppage , either way Faber will mop the floor with Jens .
WRONG! It was competitive. Faber won each round, but yet had some moments of peril. Pulver went 5 rounds with 'em, that more than anyone else can say. Impressed by Faber's stand-up, usually he looks a lot less comfortable on his feet.
true, for a brief moment i thought faber had a great back round in wrestling and was mostly a striker...just bc his hands were good that night. thats how much his hands improved. i def think pulver's got that extra power in his punches, he just didnt throw too many.
All you kids are drones if you think this'll be a clean sweep for Faber. Who has Faber fought that even equates to quality of fighter Pulver has? ...You can't compare what's not there. I'm from Sacramento and I hope Faber loses. He believes he's better than what he really is. Pulver will be a true test of his abilities. Either way, it'll be one of the best fights of the year—hopefully.
I just can't believe this stuff is free....... thats the most amazing thing of all.. Faber I have taking this one pretty quick, but you never know.. Its going to be a GREAT fight.
if u guys see faber fight he'll kick pulver's ass. It's gonna be a good fight but faber wins it and how's he a pretty boy he destroys every1 he faces and he's not a cocky steriod freak like sum other guys
it's spelled faggot it's bad enough you're a bigot but, don't be a moron too... check out the video where faber talks about fighting 12 guys then tell me if he's a pretty boy.

it's spelled faggot it's bad enough you're a bigot but, don't be a moron too... check out the video where faber talks about fighting 12 guys then tell me if he's a pretty boy.

When Jens knocks that little fag out, I hope he farts in his mouth. Jens will kick his ass, period. Oh yeah, Frank Mir is fabers coin purse licker.
