I realise June 3rd is the last possible date for the election but according to what I've read it will be May 6th due to council elections being held on that date and labour's desire not to be seen as totally cowardly. As I understand it, grassroots campaigners would stay at home if Brown left it until the last moment. That would be a disaster for them.
