LOL. Instead of going forward in development they abandoned all hope. No different cities, no getting out of car, no weapons, not even different eras in the same city. If I wanted a mission-based driving game I had a pretty good time with Driver 2 in 4 DIFFERENT CITIES. Not buying that crap, 345% less gameplay.

They got sick of copying shit, and perhaps this shift thing is cheesy as fuck, but at least it's something new in the world of OLD and REHASH. This game isn't GTA, and while it kinda lost itself on Driv3r, the game was really focused on the driving aspect. @gio23 Indeed, it doesn't sound like a bad concept, it just fits games like burnout, but it sounds like a horrible thing to do to a Driver game. Parallel lines barely pulled driver away from the graveyard by making nearly all cars customizable, and having a good setup for shooting from your car. The side missions weren't that bad either, it looks like they're taking more away rather than expanding the series, and turning driver into Burnout.

That is why they called it Driver, because it wasn't about getting out of your car and walking about. It was about driving and the car chases.

I have played a beta version of the game, and as a driver fan, I can tell all you whining bitches that you WILL enjoy the game if you enjoyed the first 3 games. It's more of the same but with some really great adiitions and updates. Thats all I can say without being in any sort of legal trouble, but don't slate it before it's out. @JBlodgettProductions Dude, I'd totally agree with you...but Driver isn't the franchise for this particular idea. Driver was always about driving and the realism. The cars weren't quite simulation and not quite arcade. It was about using your skill to complete tougher and tougher missions and although I think this "Shift" premise is really quite interesting and could be used to great effect, it's just used in the wrong game.

Driver and Driver 2 were both great games, Driver 3 was terrible and I doubt anyone remembers the fourth. So it really couldn't have done much harm to set up a whole new IP with this shift system and try and reboot the Driver franchise in some other way. In saying this though, I'm liking the trails off the cars, will definitely help during chase missions.

I hoped that you could get out like in driver 2. But shift elimates the need to get out of your car.
