  • Want to see real enlightenment techniques? Is your quest for truth beginning to feel like running around in circles?psychic abilities and powers, it is all possible. This is the time to lift the veil THE-HIDDEN-SPIRITdotCOM .

  • Buddha taught that there are four things that make up this universe.

    - Consciousness, which is the faculty of cognizing.

    - Material and physical properties, which can be known by consciousness.

    - Mental properties, desserving to be known by consciousness.

    - Nibbana, parinibbana.

  • The name "Mara" signifies "illusion". Mara is the Tempter, the Killer, the opposite of the Buddha nature in each person.

  • siddhartha was a good psychologist. the mythology of the mind

  • i thought mara was feminine

    (o Buda)

  • "Todas as coisas individuais passam. Procurai DILIGENTEMENTE a vossa LIBERAÇÃO."

    (o Buda)

  • buddha he is the greatest.

  • Yes I find it to , the mind wanders a lot more when my eyes are closed. In Theravada you chose which suit best your observation of phenomenoms arising and their disappearances.

    Buddha

"When a sound does manifest, only know what is heard. When a sight does occur, only know what is seen. When there is a smell, only know what is smelt. When there is a taste, only know what is tasted. When there is a mental object, only know what is thought

  • Throughout this whole video the Buddha is shown to be meditating with his eyes opened. I know that they do that in the Tibetan tradition, and this movie is based on Tibetan Buddhism. But aside from Tibetan Buddhism, for example the Theravadin tradition, do they too meditate with eyes opened? What is the difference? I find that when I meditate with eyes closed, my mind wanders a lot more. Just curious:)

  • It is easier to meditate with your eyes open. You have to keep your five precepts pure so that your mind does not wander.

The five precepts(in speech, thought, action)

    1) To abstain from Killing (harming others)

    2) To abstain from stealing (do not take anything without permission)

    3) To abstain from sexual misconduct (no sexual relationship outside of marriage)

    4) To abstain from lying (including harsh words, gossip, idle chat and back biting)

    5) To abstain from alcoholic drinks (no drugs)

  • It will be easier to close your eyes if you do insight meditation. Leave all your past behind, stop worrying about the future and concentrate on the present or the meditation object. If all that fail, then do reflection on the Buddha and keep repeating Buddho, Buddho, Buddho (Buddha) while breathing in and out

  • Thanks for your great help!!! -Kirk

  • In my Kadampa tradition my teachers teach to meditate with the eyes half- open but sometimes I meditate with my eyes open and look up at the Shrine

  • Fantastic!

  • You know this story reminds me of the story of Jesus in desert for 40 days and 40 nights. There he to needs be alone for a long time in in the wild and has to face Satan three times. All of which to eran some form of enlightment.

  • could you tell me where I can find a good source for reading about Jesus's meditation? ANd I am not talking about the Bible. Just an online source. Thank you.

  • Why is keanu reeves always meeting an architect in his movies? And why is he always playing the role of an enlightened one?

  • Just for fun, stop the film at 2:15 and count the faces you see in the leaves! No, I'm not stoned:))) I count four. Was this planned? If it was orchestrated, then kudos to the film-makers for designing such a great metaphor for impermanence and death:)))

  • Hear me now and hold me to this statement! I will one day make a movie which tells of the Buddha's life and times without magic nor heresay. So that His Dharma may be shown to those with eyes and ears to see and hear for their own wellness and benefit. In ten years or less, it will be done. This year, is Europe, next year will be action and thriller, on the tenth year, I hope to accomplish my vision. I hope that I have your support and blessings to do this. We are all connected. Peace.

  • Go for it!!!!!

  • you have my support!!

  • ManOnMoon, you really edited this well! Good Job!

  • OMG!!!...the raga that they are singing is so entransing......the music is soo powerful... amazing..they realy caught that seductive power...

  • Just watching this, I think that The Buddha confronted so many personal demons! Mind you, this was after six years of "ego" anhililation. This was after six years, mind you, of complete self-deprivation. So he had already expended all of his ego! Alll of it!

  • I heard that Keanu completely gave away his $20,000,000 on the last enstallment of the Matrix, to the crew, saying something like, "They're the ones who made this film come together. And besides, I have enough money..." Pretty fucking cool. I don't think he's a great actor, but I think he's one hell of a nice guy. I've never heard of anyone doing something so amazingly generous. I'd like to hang out with that guy for a day. Probably some great conversation. Nice guy.

  • wait. isn't this just keanu reaves on an awesome lsd trip?

  • Indeed our greatest enemy is our self...when Buddha reached the enlightenment he just realized that we are the lord of our ego. Thus, the earth is the witness of his own greatest enemy...since we are nothing but a part of the ocean which f we only realize our own source...(GOd)

  • Interesting, so god is the ilusion of our ego. But, if he calls the earth as a witness to non-existence of ego, than the earth is something that does exist! Is everything an illusion according to Buddhism? And those fears he faces, unfortunately they don't just disappear in real life, while you sit like that! Try on a road, you'll get run over!

  • This is so beautiful, exciting and so well done! I'd love to see the whole thing! Thanks for sharing. Awesome!

  • all these fears were just an illusion.....

  • i must have seen this more than 30 times but it still inspires me when Buddha confronts Mara (the personification of the ego self). This is profound stuff!

  • exactly! i keep comin back to view tis video couse of tat..

  • I saw it in my History class, and tell u what it was really nice film.

  • amitabha!

    thanks for sharing this video!

can i know where can find this movie?

  • blockbuster. name: LITTLE BUDDHA

  • i luv this movie. were watching at school and it is awesome!

  • This is interesting. For people who don't understand, there wasn't five literal women or an army that attacked Buddha, they are just symbols of yourself, things you must overcome. Ego was last because it is the biggest hurdle to overcome. That imagery and stories came along later to help uneducated poor understand better.

  • canu tell me the movie name & website of the movie.....It is ver very very very nice one.

  • Don't know if it has a web-sight but the name is 'little buddha'.

  • My favorite part!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My favorite part too! Remember, it took him six years of asceticism to break him down to the point where his ego was pretty much completely gone by the time he awoke. Pretty awesome, eh? This whole ego-driven life is an illusion. Wow! Strangely relieving. Cheers. -Kirk

  • this movie is amazing

  • thats how keanu became the ONE 0;p haha lol

  • LOL...i love your comment!!!too funny:-)

  • lol yeaa man

  • Simplemente...obserba...nada hay que hacer...

  • as long as it takes

  • Thank You!!

  • Mara is not a real person! In the end we see that buddha realizes he is the deep dark side of his own. And he lives in every human being as greed, lust, ego, ignorance.

  • Does anyone know what the music is right at the end of the film as the credits start to âppear?

  • One thing that I don't think is real about this is that Mara is an actual person. I think that he is really a state of mind, kind of, that the Buddha made contact with because of his deep level of meditation. Mara, who I think is a state of mind, has only been personified into a person. But that isn't really important, its only the things that 'Mara' did that matters.

  • So keanu plays budha and Neo who is a kind of budha who meets the architect as well...

No wonder why keanu is a buddhis in real life as well, he was born for this characters!!

  • Mara, is the personification of the Evil One. He is both physical and a metaphor. In this case, Mara is the "False Sense of Self", sending feelings of desire, greed, fear, pride and ignorance to the meditating Sidhartta before his enlightment. Notice how Mara, tried to convince Sidhartta by using "Pride" that what he has achieved is worthy to be called God. Many deep underlying meanings here and ther .... look out:) Amitabha

  • This world is corrupted with so many greedy and perverted people. Hear my word out, keep on reciting in the name of Lord Amitabha and you'll be gifted with something special worth more than anything in this world.

  • this was a beautiful movie.

  • Can anyone tell me what the name of Siddharta's outfit called? I never really knew the name of it.

  • i feel i have buddha inside me like everybody has it.... i want to see i want to feel and wanna experience ...what he has experienced

my name is SHANKAR and i live in india

  • shank7in: You listen to Beyonce, Lopez, and watch Dragon Ball Z, then you want to "feel" the enlightenment? You have a long way to go buddy.

  • where is there to go when the buddha is everywhere?

  • How long does it take to reach enlightenment?...

  • it all takes how ever long you see till you reach your destiny of why you were brought to be and nothing more of the presenise he was there for over 20 years

  • can you write it meaningful concise and precise english?

  • that's pretty percise if you could understand anything that is said ?

  • well, whole sentence is completely meaningless.May be you had something to say but could not convey it properly. One sentence which is that long only shows your inability to write proper english. In short it is perfect BS utterance of some philosophical buzzword after "and nothing...". Did you get it? I fear not (with your level of pseudo-intellectualism) [ BTW, what does "presenise" mean man?? :) ]

  • wow your such a dutche bag honestily mabey insted of trying to pretend your smart you should actuly try to see shit thrrew obvestily go read what u sayd how that has absolutly nothing to do with the first answer or statement of this whole comment and if u honestily respond to this u have no life so stfu =]

  • OK. I will "honestily" ( :)) ) not reply anymore..END(it is pointless). But the clip indeed deserves a sombre attention.. Bartolucci was great in the last emperor and here too..

  • the fact that you are here means it has beenn eons (perhaps billions of earth years) and you and I are still not enlightened. The buddha took 6 years in his last reincarnation. With his written formula, we could in theory, take less than that.

  • there is no "you" or "i". duh!

  • the fact that you are here means it has been eons (perhaps billions of earth years) and you and I are still not enlightened. The buddha took 6 years in his last reincarnation. With his written formula, we could in theory, take less than that.

  • Yes!!!

  • this is an interesting theory - is this stated in any of the suttas just out of curiosity?

  • That's an interesting question. I know that The Buddha said that he came to complete understanding of Dependent Oringinality through watching the Breath. And I've also read that the Buddha called "the Breath" his "abode". He would, apparently, go into retreat for months on end, just watching his breath! But as for this clip, I think it's just a great way to show, in a few minutes, what he confronted. I think he did, indeed, confront these "demons". He went far beyond what we can, probably!

  • Actually, that's a really good question. I'll look for it and let you know.

  • Try practicing Zazen meditation of the Zen school of Buddhism. Just search "Zazen" in Google and you'll find numerous guides.

We all have the potential to be a Buddha inside of us. This is called "Buddha-Nature"

  • everything is suffering because all we do is want. without want, there will be no pain.

  • That is true to some extent, you as I have broken the law and will have to pay if not on the right path.

  • just like the buddha said, we are pure elution, we do not exist, what we have is our mind, we are empty..

  • This is not epic Buddha lived in a real world and gave a way to the astrayed. The world here isn't the physical world but the world within. Your Own Mind

  • were watching this at school

  • Neo! still trapped in the matrix.

  • you are from samsara you sex drugged poor devil

  • And you're not?

  • Great!

  • Epic Movie!

  • so magnificent

  • i am so glad someone finally put this up

  • self realization is the message that i've learn from the movie. This material world is temporary and Lord Bhuddha set an example for how to become free from the bondage of this world.

  • can you upload the entire movie please?

  • Even if you don't win a hundred times fighting one hundred enemies, you'd be the biggest conqueror if you could conquest only one, yourself (Buddha)

  • "God save me rejection ... From my reflection"

Mara: You who go where no one else will dare. Will you be my God? The architect of my house?

Siddhartha: Architect. Finally I have met you. You will not rebuild your house again.

    ...

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful movie and message.

    :-)

The classic Buddhist dialogue between Mara (Lord of Darkness) and Siddhartha takes place at the end.

... The EARth is my witness.
