I have a '91 Celica with the same engine (2.2 5sfe I presume) and I was wondering if you went through the trouble of modding the engine yourself. If so, props.

and giving it's all, I had to get on the brakes to avoid rear ending my friend in his 1.8 16v GTi, as he was already braking, leaving all that left over boost to be wasted out the wastegate, and then have to build it all back up again when accelerating. Not knowing how to really drive a turbo, he seemed to take off like a rocket, leaving me to figure out how to catch him up.

I happen to like the 5s over the 3s, I have a 5, and it has more then enough power to suite me. The reason I like non turbos is for the more linear power delivery, if you want to go faster, just plant your foot in the carpet. I drove a friend of mines 1.8 T Golf, and was not really thrilled by the turbo. I don't like to wait for my power, also having driven non turbos all my life, I was not used to the way a turbo works. I just seemed to me, that by the time the turbo boost kicked in....

I love the look of all-motor engine builds man and it sounds good. turbos make power and sometimes sound good depending on the exhaust system, wastegate, and blow-off valve combination.

that is a nice clean engine bay, but the 5sfe is a piece of junk. i have a 93 celica gts and i love it, but you know as well as i that it can only really put out 150-200 max if you find the rare parts for it. although the mr2 with the 5s has a lot more parts then the celica so good luck, but i suggest you do the swap for 4g's and get the st 185 or 205 to double your horsepower and mad it up!!!!!
