Not sure if anyone has noticed this before but that blooper with Sir Francis talking about Cromwell's execution was actually used in the episode as background dialouge to introduce the scene...guess that's why professional actors stay in character even when they mess up.

@planstore - the real AOC probably didnt look like a horse anyway. There is no proof Henry actually said that, and he probably found her unattractive because of a combination of factors such as his injured pride when she failed to recognize him and her german clothes and manners...though people those days were much more unattractive than now, so Joss Stone would be too beautiful for any tudor woman.

@RoisinMcLD - not quite so. Studies show that people nowadays are more attractive, taller and stronger than they were in earlier ages. Because of a combination of evolution, a wider gene pool (people dont really marry their half brothers and cousins any more, so more genetic variation, hence stronger offspring), and maybe more advanced care techniques.

But as far as studies went, they say humans are nowadays much more symmetrical and varied (because of different mix of genes), and thus more attractive to the opposite sex. Inbreeding was definitely more common among the rich...but the Anglican communion allowed cousin-marrying since Henry, and many kids lived with their cousins and tended to marry within their family. Anyhow, increased genetic diversity = more attractive offspring.
