Well, I guess Frans followed your advice, and moved to the NH
And these days, Stephen Donald is out kicking DC. Morné will be at least 90% this year. DC, maybe 80 if he's lucky. I dunno much bout Frans since his move to France, but I heard he hasnt focussed on kicking, but on defence. I guess we'll all see at the next world cup.I think McCaw might win this year. Simply because Brussow is out injured until after the Tri Nations.
I am a Kiwi from Canterbury, but Brussow is the best no. 7 in the world. As a small no. 7 myself it is fantastic to see a guy his size doing well. I hope it heralds the begining of a revival of small skilled players, over the muscle bound robots of the current era. I fear though that the "academy" molly coddling and favouritism will mean that doesnt happen. Such a shame for Rugby.
Mate you are dreaming. McCaw overrated? No, I just rated Brussow, this season, higher. Brussow still has to maintain that standard for another 5 years before we can say he is a better no.7 and the Autumn tour wouldnt have helped that. Burger? A joke? DC shits all over the Steyns. DC has all round skills that make the Steyns look ordinary. Other than maybe kicking, DC outperforms both consistently. If you believe kicking is the best part of Rugby watch more NH Rugby. That is all they do.
@goosoid kicking is what carter does intelligently and both steyns do, all 3 are better kickers than the nh out of hand because they are more intelligent with how they use it except frans whos ability seems to be raw power at everything
Watson should have 9.5 on the back of his shirt, lol. Was totally blown away last year at the breakdown. SA had so much penetration in the midfield last year, but it amounted to nothing because as soon as the hit the deck it was pinched. That's by far the biggest difference between last years TNs and this years.
Burger is not a 7. In recent years he has moved away from being a fetcher. Brussow though has been outstanding for a couple of seasons, being statistically better than McCaw during that time . We have Stegmann, Potgieter, Juan, Schalk, Spies, Vermeulen, Kankowski, Deysel, Mokoena. All very young! We're well covered for years to come.
I never thought of Burger at an openside anyway, so moving back to blindside will give him the license to do what he loves doing.
Brussow was pretty much the first player who abuse the rule of tackler allowed to go in from any side at Test level. I like the fact that he doesn't just fetch - he has very good tackling technique and all round game.
Here they go, flavour of the month again. Brussouw is one of many completely outplayed by Luke Watson in a poor Stormers outfit this season. Burger has been poor yet all and sundry seem to be still on his bandwagon, being English, I'm happy he's currently been selected and NOT Watson. Smith, however, IMO is simply brilliant, whereas Spies, when he played against the Stormers this season, didn't get much change from Watson. If the Lions play as good as our media report, we'll get stuffed!
I agree, Brussow had a great series against the Lions, although M Williams made him work in the 3rd test. BUT I stand by what I say in the Stormers V Lions game re Watson. Burger? Said it time and again, he still doesn't know when to hit a ruck or not at times. And to all the "no-brainers" who post, I love some of the SH rugby as we visit friend there regulaly and, unlike many of you guys, are NOT bias. Brussow still has a way to go though to match the consistency and durability of Juan Smith!

There are lots of small flanks out there, Brussows teammate Kabamba Floors being one of them. A very underrated player.

McCaw has nothing on either Brussow or Burger
And I think Brussow is by far the bst fetcher in the wolrd, and will be for the next 6 years *at least*
Is that Richie McCaw with the late tackle on Brussow after he makes the pass (in the first highlight on him??)

Pophetic in light of what Brussow has done the first two tests against the Lions.

haha no way man..
watson has not been up to test level.. currently not only brussow is better than him, but also potgieter even baywatch (grobbelaar)!!
Just watch last weeks Bok-Lions game, where brussow made the so many turnovers, specially in the first half AND scored a try!!

Watson is a nonentity at the breakdown. Brussow has beaten all the best fetchers in the world. I cant say the same for Watson.
