Fox's "Movietone" was the first sound newsreel to be released in theaters, beginning in May 1927, with footage of Charles Lindbergh's plane taking off from New York at the start of his epic flight to Paris. They also covered his June return to Washington, where Presdient Coolidge awarded him the Distinguished Flying Cross, followed by Lindbergh's acceptance speech. "Movietone" continued to release weekly theatrical newsreels until 1963, when TV finally made them "obsolete" (and unprofitable).
I heard that music again on Hearst's News of the Day.
