The pilot and the first season/first half of the 2nd season were what made this show amazing. The way they highlighed California, the cohens' house and the writing were all so great.

When Seth's ex-gf Alex hit on Marissa who dumped her gardender bf to become a lesbian...the show kinda took a turn for the worse and never looked back.
