@neubie182 this is an Si tranny. JDM Si. the gear spacing is good but the 3.8 final drive lets it down. The box in my other car is a combination of JDM Si gearset with a zxi 4.25:1 final drive and LSD. It's much better.
I have a JDM shuttle/wagovan 4.44 arriving soon which is allegedly also an LSD so that should make it even better.
I'm running F2D with a bisimoto adapter and an F20b
Yea right the development and improvements Honda later did 'r based on DOHC vtec engines and SOHC engines, and not on DOHC non vtec,so By far the ZC =the best non v-tec engine, reason of product.stop=that they emission gasses where not of this time,'ZC engine is a racing engine and developed for GT&24 hour le Mans,so what u mean U ''almoste made this engine" - go and studi some more BONEHEAD
why its your CRX so slow... ive got a D15 SOHC and i pull harder than that... Completely stock and with 200,000 miles.. lol not trying to be a dick but the video just doesnt make any sense.
Dont get you panties in a bunch dude. I read the description LIKE I SAID my engine sucks and i still pull harder than that. Do you have full interior?
Sorry, I was just pissed of with Mr yugotec the freaky deaky dutchman and your like the 10th person who has commented on it being slow and each time I've replied and said it's up a hill that even my H2B euro-R with a 4.8 final drive used to struggle up.
I apologise for my bluntness. Yes its full interior, the car was pretty much totally stock except for the intake and headers. it did a 15.1 second 1/4 so it's slow but not THAT slow. Its not a crx either it's a civic.
Doot@yes U'r right U'r ZC is slow, spend some money in U'r engine and U see wat happens,Right stock (not) slow but also nothing special, maby U know the spec's but U don't know what kined of potentials this engine's got..Plz chek out my Civic 4th gen DOHC,U can see what's a real ZC engine.
What the hell are you talking about. I pretty much wrote the dohc ZC page on wikipedia, I didn't make the page but who ever did has quoted me verbatim. I know ZC dohcs and their potential. I can also tell you that yes they were a good engine......in 1985.....lol You can sink a lot of money into developing a ZC but at the end of the day what are you doing? Trying to repeat the multi million dollar development and improvements Honda did in the following two decades on a few thousand bucks.. Fail.
i am also from nz and most if not all of our hondas are the genuine jdm's. good thing about nz is we got a shit load of variety just like anywer else exept no detuned engines and we can take the cat out without braking any emision laws
Our NZDM stuff is basically the same as the UK/Euro market stuff but the good thing is it's vastly outnumbered here by JDM imports.
NZDM stuff is actually often de-tuned :(
We do get D16a9's but they aren't that common, they came in obd1 form in the '92-'93 EG5 Gti.
They are basically the same as the Australian D16a8 but had no cat converter fitted and the compression was dropped slightly so they make the same power as the D16a8. d16a8/d16a9/ZCdohc is all pretty much the same in my opinion.
Enough with the bonehead stuff man what are you trying to prove here?
No d16a9 is not known as "the most powerful", it's a decompressed D16a8 with lower compression (9.3:1 as opposed to 9.5:1) and no catalytic converter. When your only talking a few hp difference what's the big deal anyway. It's still slow.
I know why you think D16a9 is the tits, it's because you have one. If you had a D13b you'd probably be raving about that too. I've had two D16a9's and they are nothing special.
NOO-U liar..No way this is ZC engine..I've got D16A9,simular to ZC,Rev's up to (7900rp/m stock ECU,and is MUCH MUCH more agressive than U'R -dxi engine...bonehead!!
What planet are you from and who do you think you're talking to? Here in NZ we have genuine JDM import vehicles pouring out our asses. D16a9 is a Euro/Australia market engine code and was never sold domestically in Japan.
I've been living breathing and building fast hondas for 10 years now and I think I know a ZC when I see one.
They do not rev to 7800 stock, what it's actually revving to and what you see on your tachometer are two different things. This is no dxi, I can assure you it's a ZC.
ok ok ok first of all this guy isnt pushing his car to the limit and if it really is a dohc zc then that thing should be punching harder if your at WOT at 5.5k rpm
but looks for sure that its an EF but not too sure on the model. if its infact the EF3 then its jap si.
umm, not really... The DOHC ZC motor is one of the strongest Honda engines manufactured. Thats y most ppl. boost them, they usually hold strong. I shift my Rex @ 8 ( been doing it 4 a year now) w/ out ANY problem at all. It cuts off at 9rpm (chipped), but i dont push it either. Its got about 70k+ miles, & is STILL going VERY STRONG, and SMOOTH when daily driving as well... XD
no my friend, its ALWAYS runnin great. But mine is semi built tho. Besides being tuned by a respectable Performance shop in my area, as well. If im tellin u it can handle it, its cuz it CAN. ( @ least mine, if u fuck up ur "heads" , then thats all u ) Dont generalize a motor bcuz of ur personal experiences, or such. I have blown a tranny b4 ( in my earlier days when ur young/ignorant & punish ur car unmercifully), but NEVER a motor,head,etc... Im not a rookie, son... lol XD
sounds like a vtec...theres a moutian..its really a hill, that goes up for about a mile and half, and there are alot of street races...at like 2 in the morining i hear street bikes clicken through the gears, and not to soon after that i hear a cop lol.
Civic of '90 I believe first and second EF3 isn't the 1.5lt with 92hp? It revs up to 6500 rpms,7000 only if you push it too hard...but the red zone begins from 6500rpms...Except EF3 is the 1.6lt (i) but wasn't that the same with CRX?
PLZ reply,it's not that I know it it is that I believe...Let me know
ZC = Underestimated. Where bouts you from? Im from welly. I remember an old friend of mine bought an ef hatch for $1100. It was weird cos it was soch efi with a 3 inch steel intake going to the bottom of the bumper. It reved out to 13000 rpm and made vtec owners cry lol.
Yeah I blew up the Zc in my EF7 so put in a D16a9 and blew that up too, this time I built my own engine. D16a7 block with ZC dohc head, took a bit of fabbing but it's been pretty reliable so far, boosted to 16psi.
yeah i know, looked up the specs awhile ago. i'm saving up for a b16 now, so it can look like i'm redlining on the stock tach lol sike nah but yeah i really do want a b16; mainly a b18c1 but thats wayyy out of my price range lol

Whatever you say man. You just keep having fun with your 1984 "F1" technology.

I dont know about European models but here in New Zealand we mostly import our cars from Japan, so EF3's here are JDM civics with a dohc ZC engine.
The 1.5lt model here is called an EF2.
The crx models are EF6 and EF7, the dohc vtec 1600 is EF9
