I've got a baby one in a pillow case in a box at the moment - found it this morning all scared and by itself on my deck! Called WIRES but they have not come yet to get it. It's so cute. I've given it water and probably should get some native flowers - but only had a manderine so gave it that and it ate it.
Hi Lilyvon. The little ones usually stay with their mother for a while. It was good it ate the fruit. I hope WIRES have collected it by now! Let me know how you got on.
@tambaz1 Hi. Answer: Male facing the rear of the female. As all mammals do but boy! Can they be noisy! -:) One theory as to why 'missionary' isn't favoured is so the male can keep on eye open for any predators around.
I think it would run away before you got close enough for it to bite but having said that their teeth are sharp! It must have been very hungry to let me get so close but I moved slowly and I was very quiet.
They are very social - mate like any mamal - just possum on possum humping!!! Oh, and we kept the possum for a while until it was big enough and strong enough. Set it free and it still comes down to be fed. Very cute.
looks like brush tail
