  • Wow, you captured the famous arson of the man at 3am on Tuesday morning @3:56 !!!

  • Nice time-lapse movie! smooth! Do you know you can make time-lpase movies with any camera with this device: (copy address to browser): tempusALL.bymac.org

Works with ANY camera! cool :P

  • captivating timelapse must tell a story. a static wide angle shot is very generic, and shows very little of the experience. your time would be much better utilized to personalize your footage to document a specific project rather than a wide angle soulless capture.

  • Oh man! This was one well-made video and really fun to watch. Plus has great info on the description. Thanks for making and posting this.

  • Thanks for sharing this, what a great contribution! Was awesome to see my first year in fast forward and cool to see the Man burning on the first night, I totally missed it happening and though it was a big joke when I heard people talking about it the next day...

  • mynameiszee: OneManBanjo

  • Does that dust kill the party or does it look thicker than it is.

  • Depends on how bad it gets. But you generally wear a face scarf or respirator for when that happens.

  • Anyone knows the name of the songs of this video? Please answer me

  • Baby Gramps is the artist.

  • or maybe not it says sean lee- one man banjo at the end...i know the last song is hocus pocus bow legged locusts.

  • at 3:55 someone set the man on fire by paul addis, he was arrested and charged with arson

  • you are a dipshit.

  • awesome

  • It's the 3rd largest city in Nevada for the time it exists... Don't you want toilets? Infrastructure? Rangers? 7 story art objects erected? Giant buildings exploding into the sky? Multi-million dollar parties all across the desert? Yeah, you stay at home. I'm chipping in on campfire wood! ...And having the time of my life! By the way, there _ARE_ cheaper tickets. You just need to look on the site. LOL
  • or learn 2 do fire poi and spin there 2 get in 4 free

thats wat im gonna do eventually lol

  • spoerl92 said:or learn 2 do fire poi and spin there 2 get in 4 free

thats wat im gonna do eventually lol

    ------------------------------------

Hate to tell you this, but spinning poi doesn't get you in free at Burningman. LOL If it did, 99% of the people wouldn't have to pay. ;-)

  • Yep... not even the few groups who do conclave get in for free technically (I don't believe so anyway)

  • None of the tickets go under $200.. Look, I just don't have has much money as you.

  • Yes, some of them do... income tickets & Scholarship tickets...

  • You just need to apply for limited income and scholarship tickets and you can get cheaper.

However, the real cost is in the preparation for the event.

  • I got my tickets on craigslist for $200. If you're having problems scrounging the money for the event how about

    1) pick up and recycle aluminum cans/bottles.

2)Put the money into a savings account every month and voila you'll have money for burning man and then some.

This is how I paid for all of my traveling when i was under 18. I would regularly make over $200 /week just from recycling stuff.

  • I found out a lot more about this festival. I love it and plan on going next year. A dollar a day isn't a lot and it's more than enough.

    Thanks!

  • Your welcome. Just make sure to go to the burningman website and read up on the section for the first timers. A lot of really useful information and to ensure you have a good time pack shelter and enough food and water for your time there. Enjoy your burn.

  • In the end it's up to you and how much you want to go. If you can't figure out how to pay $200-250 for a ticket well that's on you. If you think about it if you just put one dollar a day into a piggy bank and saved it for a year you'd have more than you'd need for the ticket.

Also $250 dollars is not a lot of money for an event that goes on for 1 week and has as much infrastructure as this one does.

  • WHAT!?

That defeats the whole purpose. Bullshit.

  • set to whitewater by kyuss = great

  • i live in new mexico so i go evry year i did not get to go this year $250 tikets thats screwd up

  • dear god you had to break down the cells too? jesus. y'all are the man!

  • life is wayyyyyyyyyy beautiful..even without drugs, finding your releive in desert,,or trees,,burning something ,,and pretending this is making life better, try to find different ways to get naked in public more often etc etc,..open your eyes to world "the real world"

  • what was the theme of bm 2008?

  • american dream, next yr is EVOLUTION: A Tangled Bank

  • cool sand storms

  • nice! i didnt see myself, but i did. ; )

  • how did you store all of the images how big of a harddrive or what did you use

  • It was stored on a ruggedized industrial computer running slackware Linux. It has a 60g drive inside.

  • BioLAB @ SoulStance2008 Check it: Wakingminds . org

  • Whenever I have to explain BM, I send people this shot. Really shows how incredible the burn can be....it's

  • Beautiful...makes me miss the event a little. Was neck deep in Frog pond hot springs 24 hours ago....

  • Hi Peef! I didn't know you set this up! Once again you've amazed and impressed me. Is there anything you can't do? Well chosen music as well. Q: Which direction did this camera face exactly and, was that the Crude Awakening production in the background on Sat after the Man burns? I would love to see that event in Time-Lapse and a slow-mo version would be fun too! Your genius is greatly appreciated. Hugs and a kiss! ~Day

  • nice work.

  • whats the song/singer at like 5 minutes?? :P

  • sweet sean lee is awesome i wish i could just run to the rearest place and pick up his cd

  • where does this happen? and why is this for?

    thanks

  • its all for you!

  • I think you should have kept the original full size images, or did you? With them you can make 720p, 1080p, 2K, and maybe even 4K HD video.

I prefer using a Digital still camera though, like my Canon Rebel XT. More megapixels = power for the future!

  • I did keep all 18,476 images. If you looked at "about this video" at the top right, you would have read that the images WERE shot with a 4 megapixel resolution (2272x1704). I have had no significant reason to produce a video at higher resolutions, but I may do so at some point.

  • I'm sorry. I mis-read the description. I did see the part about 4mp, then the part about downsampling and thought the originals were lost. My bad.

  • Amazing, I was actually suprised when I saw the man burn early (even though i was there). It shows how much work was put into replacing the man.

    :)

Thank you for bringing back all my black rock memmories!

  • awesome, does anyone what the music is that is playing during the vid

  • The information about the music is plainly visible in the credits at both the beginning and end of the video!

  • so fucking cool

  • totally awesome, 3:56 has the first man burn!

  • Just curious. How much money did they say the founders make off of this event?

  • That was GRRRRReat. See you in 2008!

  • YES! I love it! Added to my favorites! You have no idea how exciting it is watching this through and trying to figure out where the hell I was at what points! hahaha!

  • Haha, this vid is great! What an awesome contribution to the Black Rock community. :) Where can I get more info about the music?

  • this is f'in awesome!!!!

  • those are some nasty-lookin sandstorms

  • Beautyful video, terrific music! Is there a chance for unveiling the bands or interprets of the music played? I would be very greatful.

  • Fantastic video. Glad you had the camera in place the whole week. Disregard anyone who says different

  • you shouldnt show the whole begining its most of the video:(

  • wow!! You got the part where the man burns early! well done! I love this video.

  • with the resolution of these photos, you should print this to IMAX. i'm sure you could raise the money to make a print on the merits of the footage.

  • I'm going to make a high-def version sometime soon, but since I don't have a spare IMAX cam laying around, that'll have to wait....

  • I loved this so much that I stole a couple of pieces of it for a burning man montage... I hope you don't mind... Let me know what you think.

  • I responded with a CBS report on burning man 2007 which aired 9-30-07, it's pretty good, FYI I'm also putting my original footage up too here at some point.

  • 'Huge' footage my man, at 3:56 we've got that first burn on monday (followed by a little stream of water from a truck). You name it, such essential footage of the event.

  • excellent, thank you. have not been to a burn in 3 years, and found this vicariously pleasing. thanks

  • The Colors look incredible the night of the burn! I can't imagine being there! Awesome music. So cool that the early burn (and rebuilding) was caught on tape. Anybody who attends this is so TOUGH (and so lucky!)

  • Nice work! Luv this stuff.

  • if you search for the song by sean lee 1manbanjo

    im sure you;ll find it

  • This is such a great video. You've made history with this one guys! Awesome doesn't even come close to telling how cool it is to see the whole week + go by. Thank YOU!! See you on the playa next year!

  • i love watching it go from day to night...

  • totally awesome, 3:56 has the first man burn! so crazy!

  • the music in the backround...what artist is that?

  • The information about the music is plainly visible in the credits at both the beginning and end of the video!

  • Thanks for giving such a great gift to the community. AWSOME

  • ahhh, the best video ever

  • thanks for making and sharing. Awesome music as well!

  • awesome!!

  • this video is very well done. you are brilliant! can't wait for next years time lapse. we love you

  • Cool timelapse! Wish I had made it up there this year. So great to use solar panels. Good music too. Those sand storms look highly annoying and gear-threatening. lol.

  • I cannot tell you how awesome this is!!!YOu already know

  • Awesome.

  • I miss it so much... Thanks for posting this incredible video. It made my day.

  • Wow! I was asleep when the man burned the first time- now I've seen it, and so much more! Thanks Phil!! And I loved Sean Lee's banjo!

  • This video captures a lot - the pre-burn, rebuilding the man, the massive dust storms, the new burning man, and the burn itself! Plus lots of daytime activity and neon. Nicely done! Thanks.

  • This kicks ass in so many ways.

  • Pretty awesome stuff. How about a torrent of the full size version? I'd love to watch this on a HDTV.

  • It's in the works, but I've got to tend to paying work first! I'll post a link here once it's done.

  • Dude can you give us a link to a 1080p version?? This is awesome.

  • Thank you! Bril.

  • thanks, that was great to watch..

  • A little clock in the corner would be a nice addition. A higher-resolution version on stage6 would be pretty cool as well.

  • Just watch the shadows, they are a good indicator.... =)

  • Thanks!

  • Perfect, I think you may have caught the person who stole my bike on camera......

  • I have high-resolution pictures of every single frame. Let me know what to look for and I'll try to get you a good image.

  • music - can't take it.

  • Turn down your volume! :-p

  • Awesome...I watched this with my youngest son...a very special time as I explained some events etc and he pointed out things he noticed to me! Thank You!

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful gift!!! <3

    -john

(ps check my 2006 video if you want)

  • Absolutely brilliant... thank you for this GIFT!

  • The man burns at 3:55 and 8:02. Very nice video!! I need to finish my time-lapse video from Gerlach.

  • awesome job!

  • I love that the very significant things about burning man.. only take a few seconds... but I LOVE the direction of lights based on "where the cool is" like all the lights coming to the center for the "real" burn, and then wisking off to the right for the temple burn... brilliant.

  • Amazing!

  • Brilliant work Peef.

  • Who's the band?

  • 3:55 - first man burn on monday night!

  • dude. this RAWKS!

    massive respect.

  • you rock Peef. Two burns caught on tape.
