I think the story of sonic should always be about technology corrupting nature. And that each game should start in the most natural human-less world. Only to progressively change over the course of the game. So that finally when you are in the heart of the enemy's lair, you're surrounded by a completely technological landscape vacant of life.

I don't care if Sonic 4 is a "rehash" of other Sonic games. At least I'm playing a really great 2D Sonic game after 17 years (Sonic & Knuckles being the last good 2D Sonic game, in my opinion). I prefer Sonic 4 instead of the new Sonic Generations. If there's any 3D element on gameplay, I discard it (taking the fact that some parts of the Classic Sonic levels shift to some close-up perspective, changing the gameplay a little). For me, Sonic is just like Megaman and Castlevania: only good in 2D.

They said they are making huge leaps forward in programming but nothing exciting visually, which is good! They said since a few huge obstacles were cleared they can move more quickly hopefully.

I totally agree with you. But on the other hand, the thing I want mroe than anything else is a return to the same physics and feel. Sonic 4's feel was okay, but it felt off and as you said "uninspiring." I haven't played Sonic Generations yet so I can't say anything about it. But with this video, the physics looks really accurate. It is the fun momentum based platforming that I miss the most.
Oh, and I would personally love a remarke of all those other Genesis games!
@ShadowAlex The problem I have with Sonic 4, and with all recent Sonic games, is the Homing Attack. The invention of the Homing Attack, like in Ocarina of Time, was a concession to the difficulty of targeting enemies in a 3D environment. It makes absolutely no sense in a 2D game, however.
When you go place where you must run around (circle) when you are upside down. When you jump you will die or get into place where you can not get out.

There is a glitch.
When you go place where you must run around (circle) when you are upside down. When you jump you will die or get into place where you can not get out.

@pkstarstorm1up Just so you know, it is the games that make people hate Sonic. The reason they like the Genesis games so much is because, well, they were good. Anything post-Dreamcast is FUCKING AWFUL, with the exception of a couple of handheld games.

@iamchocoboknight91 First off it's Sonic Team that makes the games, secondly none of Sonic's games are bad except for the Gamegear games, the educational games, the pinball and puzzle games, and Sonic and the Secret Rings.

To make matters worse, there's a fan game that's being worked on titled Sonic FanRemix which actually has decent graphics and physics that actually work! What's even funnier is that Sonic 4 had a team of at least 100 professional developers with a budget over 1 Million dollars and they make a game that looks even shittier when compared to a game of little-to-no budget made by only 3 people. Yeah, nice going Sega; the company that even its fans can make better games than you can.

Sonic fans are once again saying that this game has redeemed the franchise, just as they have been saying in last 5 years; while others are boycotting Sonic 4 because of Sonic still having green eyes and Robotnik still being called Eggman. As many Sonic fans hoped this would be the triumphant return of the once respected Sonic franchise, the game was a piece of shit. The game had horrible physics, craptastic graphics and every level and boss is a rehash from the first two games.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Coming to terms with understanding that the preceding hundred Sonic games listed here are fantastic, Sega decided to return to their roots in milking a fluke franchise with more sequels. Sonic 4 promised to return to the first side-scrolling Sonic games, the only playable character will be Sonic and it has been confirmed to be available for XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare, though the game is in the style of the classics.

Fans make better games then Sega! Sega destroyed the own mascot with week games, after sonic adventure 2, sonic completely die. Nintendo each time make Super Mario game its awesome, Sega each time make a sonic is a crap game, Someone go to that company and revive sonic again with a awesome game, sonic once rule the 3D plat-forming so make sonic adventure 3! @blazewave222 Well I am not saying the games are bad after adventure 2, the fact is some games are awful another's are ok, but not that good, The sonic you mention in my personal opinion is awful, bugs everywhere, poor design, week story, etc. Some reviews give to that game like 3/10, 40%, etc. The games are kinda ok, is sonic heroes, sonic colours...The rest is crap even Sonic 4 isn't that good... Sega killed the own mascot, is kinda sad, I am big fan from sonic, Mario compare to him is gayness

I play sonic since the first game come out my friend in 1991! the last sonic games are a crap, compared with the old ones. The last good games was adventure 1 and 2, heroes is kinda good to. but the rest are just awful games! Sonic got destroyed by sega in the last 5 6 years or more! sonic was on same lvl as super mario now compared to mario, sonic is awful!

@ugochib actually not, sonic 1 is good, sonic 2 is awesome, sonic 3 is awesome, sonic and knuckles is great also, sonic 3D is marvellous, sonic from game gear come out after sonic 1 for mega drive, and the game gear game is not that bad, in that time was a awesome game!
