  • SO much better than flags of our fathers (i thought)

  • isn't that katsumoto from the last samurai?

  • @gizmonator25 Yes i think so.

  • i saw this movie when i was like 9 and it scared the shit out of me

  • This is better than Saving Private Ryan.

  • I think as Americans, even though we hated Japan during WW2, we have since grown to deeply respect their fighting spirit, and their unwillingness to surrender, even in the face of obliteration.

Japan is one of our best economic allies today, and Americans crave many things that are Japanese (cars, electronics, etc), as well as Japan loving many things that are American (entertainment . . electronics, haha). It's great to see how far our two nations have come since then =]

  • *general draws sword*

"I will always be in front of you"

    gives me goosebumps evertime.

  • This movie represent everything on war : Patriotism, Loyalty, Spirit, Human Endure, Despair, Insanity, Tolerance, Atrocities of war, Dignity. You can find it all in this movie. Best war movie that so underrated

  • Remember, this island is where the planes with the atomic bombs took off to nuke Japan, so "If our children can live safely for one more day, it would be worth the one more day that we defend this island" Because of Japans tough defence of Iwo Jima the children of Hiroshima and Nagasaki could live another 36 days....

  • usa sucks!

  • this was better than flags of our fathers.

  • Crazy Japs!!!!

  • jeden z najlepszych filmów :)

one of the best films :)

  • IDK why people hate the japs man u gotta look from their porspective. For me I see some brave men fighting for their country just like any other people do. They were the bravest of all and the one that fought courageously in this war. i have respect for them and i hope that im not alone

  • @amandasshorty bro its a movie ;)

  • Japanese: Has the most fighting spirit ever

  • the japanese were the bravest soldiers in the world at world war 2, too bad they fought for the wrong side, they knew that they had no chance to win the battle, but they still fought on so that their families at home could live without seeing the war in their own city's, i respect them

  • once in a while a great sequel comes along , glad to have seen it =D

  • hat's off to the japanese, out of all the armies in that war they where the bravest. I respect them highly

  • One of the only war movies that actually made me feel sad toward the japanese people.

  • @Ichigo1423jfk that scene where those japs saved that american kid named 'sam almost broke my heart

  • @cirasoni09 stfu

  • @TMN734 dude ur a racist fagot just shutup

  • すげえ、ニノの演技はやっぱりうまい!

    この映画を見てた時、すごい泣けて。。。

    また見たくなりました。

  • if it was in english i would totaly watch it

  • @AlexBoy123HBG

Oh, mate, don't be so ignorant, it's a good movie, give it a try. Cheers! :)

  • @AlexBoy123HBG my advice is to watch it anyway its a great movie phenomenel amazing

  • @AlexBoy123HBG just watch it and you will even like the language of japan.

  • @cirasoni09 Oh look, a korean who's living in the past. Get on with time man.

  • はっきり言って韓国は中国の属国だろ^^

  • 棒子、黙れ~~

    それはお前らだろ^^

    ベトナムとかさ^^

  • wow,, have to get this one! BLURAY !! =D

  • The last great war movie

  • where can i rent this movie?

  • @lala102197 try netflix.com

    :D

  • i will always remember ken watanabe more as the general in this movie than saito in inception

  • I can feel the blood of the Imperial soldier bumps through my vessels...TENNOHEIKA BANZAI-I-I!!!

  • loved it. gave new view on the war..

  • Man the Japs are such fearless bastards, i have always had fear from them, but i admire and envy them too, i don't think someone else is brave as they are .

  • HERE FOR NINOMIYA KAZUNARI <333

  • Going back to taegukgi

  • Awesome movie, many thanks to the creators for this piece of history.

Those Japanese officers should have organized better defenses rather than lead pointless charges when their nerves gave up. USSR would've never held Stalingrad if it fought like that. In such a way, they could've really prolonged these battles.

But as the commander states, the Japanese empire should've never gone to war with the US. Big-time failure of an inefficient, militaristic government.

  • @T90SVladimir Because pointless charges was never something which the Russians did in Stalingrad.

  • @estagonandfire Yes, they weren't. Pointless charges in Stalingrad are something the lunatics at Hollywood dug up to portray the incapable Soviet soldiers, commanders, and government. And you drew it up from them apparently. I've read much on WWII history, in particular the Eastern Front, all I can say is: Pathetic. I'd suggest reading through David Glantz's trilogy to get a through understanding of the battle. But of course you won't, cause your WWII knowledge apparently stops at Hollywood.

  • The soviet soldiers were incapable, so were the commanders and the government. I suggest you take a look on the statistics regarding Stalingrad, which will prove that "some" Soviet "soldiers" must have passed away being driven pointlessly into a shower of bullets.

  • @estagonandfire I actually HAVE looked into the statistics of that battle and many others, many times. If you had too, you would see that the casualties for both sides were roughly equal. German soldiers were driven into such showers of bullets and artillery no less than the Soviet. It was a battle of attrition in a larger, total war. Now please stop spreading your nonsense BS and read about the battle by RESPECTED, EXPERIENCED HISTORIANS. Because it is very clear that you have NOT.

  • @T90SVladimir

You must be retarded if you are stating that the casualties on the German side were equal to that of the Russians. I will not discuss with a mongol, who thinks something like that.

    Good bye.

  • @estagonandfire I'm glad you've freed up my time, because you are an idiot. If you're incapable of at least reading wikipedia. Your stupid statements only prove my point further, so thanks for those assets as well.

  • When i watch this i get so pumped to be a japanese and rush americans with my samurai sword and slice their heads off. BANZAIEE!!!!!

  • As a war movie should be.

    Eastwood's best to date.

  • finally a good war movie from a different perspective then the "All American Heroes"! going to watch it right now :)

  • nino is in this movie! must watch!

  • The innovation of this movie is the war lived by japanese army

  • When can we get Ken Watanabe his OSCAR!?!?

  • brilliant movie

  • Their are a lot of war movies out their but very few actually capture the real depth of the war and this movie does a great job of capturing it and this is my favorite war movie other than Saving Private Ryan, the mini series Band of Brothers, Black Hawk Down, and The Hurt Locker

  • @nanobozz ..band of brother if you analyse it...its probably the best movie

  • one of Clint Eastwood's greatest achivements as a director, and one of my favorite movies

  • A superb and accurate view of the Japanese perspective...thank you Mr, Eastwood. :-)

Posted to my Facebook, to share :-)

  • i thought this was the best movie ive ever seen, well war movie, it made me cry

  • the reason i was sceptical about this film was because i saw flags of our fathers and found it too slow.

  • is this movie good? ive seen alot of movies and wanna find some good war films and also some good action films especially kung fu movies. im probably watch the film anyway it looks good, but recently i saw a s.korean film called taegukgi a brotherhood of war and that was an excellent movie which i defintley recomend so if anyone sees it tell me how ya liked it. but ill leave another comment about how i liked this film once ill have seen it,

  • neverhoodyn

how manny hospitals and civilians do you think there was in hiroshima and nagasaki :P

  • gamenerd i agree with u all the way.. this movie also was lke way better then avatar because it wasnt some gay rip off of halo and how we shouldn kill aliens. lol

  • when you watch movies like this you see that the best way to go when governments of 2 countries want to go to war the best solution is to just shoot them and be done with it

  • ''how you would feel if america and japan would enter war''

''america is the last country in the war that japan should fight''

    rolf

  • @NoobSnoopy Japan never wanted a war. The Americans cut of oil supplies and other vital supplies to Japan, and that caused suffering in Japan. So in order to tell the Americans to stop, they sent Task Force 7 and launched an attack on Pearl Harbor. But Canadian and British intelligence knew of this attack before it began but U.S.high ranking officials shut them up. Blame the US for all the suffering that was to follow, not Japan.

  • @niHonRanDomSnippeR

"In order to tell the Americans to stop they attacked American soil and killing civilians" Do you realise how stupid this sounds?

  • @neverhoodyn Civilians?! Pearl Harbour was a military base! It was a HARBOUR that allowed MILITARY vessels to pass between San Fransisco and Manila. Also, where in my comment do you see that? I clearly said "So in order to tell the Americans to stop, they sent Task Force 7 and launched an attack on Pearl Harbor. " No civilians died at Pearl Harbour, unless your definition of a Marine is "Civilian".

  • @niHonRanDomSnippeR

If you honestly believe that japans intention with the attack was for the Americans to open the supply routes, you are an idiot. "hey, lets attack one of the greatest super powers in the world and maybe they will leave us alone! deeeerp"

"The overall death toll reached 2350, including 68 civilians" They also targeted hospitals during the attack.

  • @NoobSnoopy it didnt exactly ring true did it?

  • @NoobSnoopy As wise man once said, words are cheap, it is action that counts.

  • my grandmothers cousin died over iwo jima the last day of war:( i salute him!

  • świetny film. Odwaga i determinacja Japończyków broniących swojej ziemi jest powalająca. Chylę czoła, generale Kuribayashi.

  • Epic, Intense and Awesome movie. i totally recomended this movie to those who haven't seen this movie, you're gonna love it, like i do and thousands of others :)

  • "Congratulations! Your husband is going to war."

Almost as terrible to hear as:

"We're are sorry to tell you that your husband has fallen in battle."

    I hate war...

  • BONZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI MUTHAFUKAAAAAA

  • BONZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kazunari Ninomiya did an amazing job in this movie. It's terrific.

  • =O

First think i see that when we out in HD and full screen that looked like in blue-ray or if u were watching a movie on the cinema...

  • i dont support them in ww2, and their bombings of Other countires and Pearl Harbour, but the Americans acted to rasionally.

  • @shinfield13

we didnt act rasionally. how would you feel if someone was saying how there would be no war and we can have peace..then bombs your best naval base without warning?

  • I liked the combination of the two films, but flags of our fathers was a rather weak link. Maybe they should make a film on the vietnam war like this, i have yet to see one that doesnt dehumanize the Vietnamese.

  • @deruntergang1

Most Vietnam movies actually dehumanize the Americans.

  • I watched this film because i'm a fan of Ninomiya (as Saigo).

he really did a great job and his voice is so adorable.

This movie is awesome. I never had so much emotion to war films. everytime solder commited suicide made me wonder if that was really necessary? most people who commited suicide in Saigo's team were just scared. they didn't know what would be waiting for them if they chose to live on......

  • Great trailer. Awesome movie.

  • what I like from this movies is the fact that they show the bad and good parts from both sides and the japs arent only bad guys and from the american side that they arent all like rambo and arent all shouting fuck all the time.

  • good movie

  • I hav alot of reaspect for the japs in ww2 they dident hav the best army nor the best gear or men but they foght for the homland an died In honor that is what a true milatary iss go japs!

  • seen all of them... this one is the best...>:)

  • is this movie in japanese

  • Saving private ryan is the best

  • this is one of my favorite movie..... I love this movie and the trailer is so good.

    Thank you. I watched it.

  • great and amazing movie!!!

  • i watched flags of our fathers yesterday, i might watch this tomorrow

  • True meaning of war.

  • Top ten greatest movies of all time in my opinion I have this at number 6.

  • i loved this movie so much

  • @gamenerd323 I think saving private ryan was way better than this film, i mean this isn't a bad film but i would say it's the second best war film ever made.

  • This movie made me cry for the first time in my movie watching life. Such a beautiful movie, Clint Eastwood's best!!!

  • I've seen this movie. It is the best war move ever. One of the best movies i've ever seen. The Special effects are even better than Avatar.

Way better than flags of our fathers

  • @gamenerd323 There's no special effect in Letters from Iwo Jima... or at least. Not even 1% of the total amount there was in Avatar....

Don't get me wrong, Letters is an awesome movie, and I completly agree with you... but about the special effects ? That's just crap and lies....

  • @gamenerd323 Yeah, avatar's were a bit over done for my taste, and repetitive

  • @gamenerd323 was flag of our fathers good?!? that is the worst war movie i ever saw, we go and see war movies to see the fighting, and what do we get? love the story and 2 minutes of action, wtf that isnt a war movie. WHO AGREE?!!!

  • brilliant movie.
