Thank you for posting this video; I wanted to see a "real world" user and not an infomercial and after watching your video I went out and bought the turkey fryer and fried my first turkey for Thanksgiving (2011). To say that I was pleased with the way that my turkey turned out would be an understatement.........it was the juiciest and most flavorful turkey that I have ever tasted. I'm doing my second bird for Christmas tomorrow and can't wait. Thanks again for posting your video.
@mustangfivepto1 I am always happy to hear that I have been a help to someone!!! Thank you for that! I have loved this fryer for my turkey from the beginning and now I am thinking about doing cornish game hens for new years. Not sure if I'll do a video tho. How did your Christmas bird turn out? Did you do a video? I'd love to see it :)
I just watched the infomercial on TV and WHAT A SCAM!!
FIRST, they don't tell you how much it is.
SECOND, THEY OFFER FREE GIFTS , THEY SAY' are worth over $250.00.
Ya' know what they call 250 bucks worth of gifts? An instructional video , probably cost 5 bucks , 3 vacuum press & seal lids, sold for 19.99 for 20 on another infomercial, gloves to handle the turkey, you can get anywhere for 10 bucks & a $5.00 coupon. So about $30-$40 worth of crap they say is worth 250. HOW MUCH IS THE FRYER ?
@Gamersukatlife Yah its ashame how those infomercials try to throw in a whole bunch of other crap to make a crappy product look good. But thats why we have youtube right? Honest opinions of a product from REAL people. Well as for price...I paid 99 dollars for mine and I got it from Lowes. They took off an extra 10% for military discount so it actual price was around $90 for me. I didnt get any extras though, but thats ok it was well worth it! Have a Merry Christmas, and thanks for the comment :)
Thanks for making this video. its the first video i seen that its a normal video (opposed to a infomercial) that i can see it works--REALLY works! How do it do with the steaming part, that is if u have tried that yet?
@howardkevinm You are very welcome. It was fun. And yes it really does work :) I have seen those infomercials too. Those turkeys come out so friggin perfect that you wonder if its true. Well as you can see the birds are beautifully fried by this machine. It was money well spent. And No, I have not steamed yet. But when I do, I will def do a video on it :)
@howardkevinm Peanut oil IS the recommended oil because of the high burn point. But I have to admit it adds a little something to the flavor too. One of the other commenters mentioned using Canola oil, but I have not tried it and probably wont. Peanut oil is a bit more expensive, but you can use it over and over and over again without getting that burnt flavor to it. Price is not too bad, just go to walmart and get 2 of the 1 gallon bottles :)
@pr0n3 Please do...You wont be dissappointed. Just please be sure to follow the cooking time for YOUR size of turkey. My brother, the one in the video carving the turkey, he got one last year and didnt follow the cooking time for the size bird. He OVER cooked it toooo long and it was hard, dark, and dry. Good luck to you :)
I got the big 20 lb XL model from QVC. It came with a window but I didn't peek in during cooking just lifted the lid. I used regular canola oil instead of peanut oil. It turned out great not greasy at all. I cooked a 16 lb turkey and that seems like a decent size for the machine,
@sansaviera ... Wow !!! You got the big mama fryer :) Thats a good size one but I just dont have the room to store that one, lucky you.
And Canola oil huh ??? Thats a first. Have you tried the peanut oil and just didnt like the taste of it or what? I have never tried it with the canola oil before.
I have also learned that a smaller turkey works best in these things. This Christmas I just did the whole butterball turkey breast and the size was perfect. It was a 10 pounder.
I have the same turkey fryer and so far so good! The only drawback is the outlet attachment. It's not long enough and I find myself checking to see if it's still plugged in every minute for fear of it falling off because of the magnet attachment. The turkey came out pretty good though. It was tender and cooked evenly. It says up to 14 pounds, but I find that 12 pounds and under is more manageable. Anything larger than that is guaranteed to get stuck in the basket when trying to pull it out.
@kemacy79 ...Yeah i know what you mean about the magnet attachment. I was worried about that too the first time too. But the second time I figured if it didnt happen the first time it probably wont happen this time :) Better to be safe than sorry though right? LOL
Oh and yes I totally agree with the 12 pound limit. I might even go with a 10 pounder for Christmas if I can find one :)
@larissakrout ...Thanks Larissa. I hope you enjoy yours when you get it. Oh and when you do just remember the ones from QVC do not have the window on the lid. So be sure to check the specs on yours whereever you but it from. Some people have been dissappointed because theirs didnt come with the lil window on top. Merry Christmas :)
@sexibeach ...Hi, I didnt even notice the max fill line. I used 2 bottles of peanut oil which were one gallon each, so I just poured them both in. Perhaps if I would have bought the big 3 gallon box of peanut oil I would have measured out the 2 gallons against the max fill line. But since both bottles totalled 2 gallons, I didnt even pay attention to that. I will pay attention to that when I fry on Christmas though. Thanks :)
@MagicQueendom your so welcome, I know what you mean but it was so scary for me I went over and over and over everything.. but boy i sure do love it, and don't regret buying this, i'm also thinking of doing a low country boil now that its summertime.
@HELENCASTRO8823 ...I think the first models of this didnt come with a window. How did it work out for you? I guess you dont really need a window anyway cuz once the turkey starts cooking the window fogs up pretty good anyway so you cant even see the turkey inside. Have you used it yet???
@unicomaky ...It takes about 2 gallons of oil and can fit up to a 14 pound turkey. Its not an oil per pound measurement. You just put in about 2 gallons. Its very easy and the turkey comes out great !!! I cant wait to use mine again this year. My neighbor uses hers year-round for steaming, boiling, and frying fish, so she really gets her moneys worth :)
Awesome video! I just bought one of these today and seen your video and now I cant wait to get mine lol...my questions for you are...did u let the turkey sit in a warm water bath for 30 minutes before frying it like the manufacturer suggests...and what injection marinade did you use? That turkey looked so yummy! Thank you for sharing with us here on youtube and I hope to hear from you soon.
@cheris34 ...Thank you, and yes we did sit in in warm water but only for about 15 minutes. That was all it really needed. But yours may be denser so you just have to check on it from time to time or just go ahead and leave it the full time. MAIN THING IS Be sure there is not s single ice crystal and please dry the bird very thoroughly. Oh and I used the cajun creole butter injection marinade. :)
Girl I was most impressed with the fact that the breast was tender AND juicy !!! I have never in my 39 years had turkey that was so freakin juicy. And even though it was deep fried, it was not greasy at all. The outer skin was thin and crispy, and the inside was moist and fabulous !!! Easy to clean too. Just threw the big inner pot in the dishwasher and wiped down the rest of the machine. Crazy !!! Gonna do it again for Christmas and gonna do a vid on the grease removal and clean up. Stay tuned.
Looks great!!! I love fried turkey
