I just found this preview of Barbara's upcoming audiobook for "Living Alone and Loving It"! It has preview recordings of Barbara reading from her book as well as written essays.
Hey ! That's Me with Barbara Feldon!! It was taped during the 2 weeks it was in Hollyood at CBS-TV City.
They taped 4 shows that same day: on the previous show, playing opposite John Schuck , I won only $100,...but won that round, so was held over for the "next day's " show, when my partner was Ms. Feldon. (That's what I had hoped for all along) ,...and we were on the same wave length.
Dude, do you have ANY idea how much I and millions of other men envy your opportunity? I was all of 10 years old when you taped that show, and I already had a thermonuclear crush on Barbara Feldon, from which I've never fully recovered to this very day.
@JimpK That's beautiful! I'm always happy whenever the contestant wins in the winners circle. That's a great testimony! Barbara Feldon is just terrific, and John Schuck was very well known in the 70's, and he was in a TV show with Richard Shull called "Holmes and Yo-Yo" which I thought was a good show. By the way, how does one get on a game show? If they bring back the Pyramid, it would be great to see it with its original stage and decor. That what made it so cool.
@JimpK The whole show is now up to look at now, Jim. It just got uploaded December 9 in case posting the link doesn't work. w w w .y outube.com/watch?v=7qnleAwk0Tw
The Winner's Circle was THE best game show endgame in television history... The big Pyramid, along with being the focal point of the entire game and set, definitely served its purpose. Aside from being beautiful, regal, and flashy, the Pyramid was also a looming, somewhat menacing, and VERY imposing character... A foe that was to be defeated. The $10,000 would stare down at celebrities from its apex, daring them to help their partner win the spoils in under a minute... Tension galore!! :-)
@singingsav It did! I would have gotten nervous if I had saw that happen, but fortunately that glitch proved moot here. Even if it had run properly, the contestant wins with time on his side (about 17 seconds by my count).
Notice too that the pyramid has practically always involved big money...$10,000 was a major windfall in 1973 (and I still think it's a lot of money today, even with inflation).
From what I know, none of the New York CBS shows exist, and only ABC shows from 1978 on exist.

loutenore33 4 months ago
@loutenore33 You could say that. They wanted go to LA to tape a month's worth of episodes with Hollywood stars to boost them.

This was the very first year of Pyramid and the producers weren't too refined in the rules like they were in later years.

She was a most delightful and charming woman.
