  • John Lee Hooker played Delta Blues, in his own inimitable style. John Jr. is going his own way with the Chicago sound. People want him to be his dad, but he's obviously going his own way. Good for him.

  • I find it funny that people who probably can't even play music are flaming this guy for not being his father. If you want to hear his dad, then leave the "JR" off your youtube search and take your hate elsewhere.

  • SUN JUN 19

John Lee Hooker Jr. 5PM $10/13

    Skippers smokehouse Tampa Fl

  • Love the video. I am a huge fan of the Blues and I am only 27 years of age and I was inspired by guys like Albert King, John Lee Hooker, Howlin Wolf, and Jimi Hendrix. I think that his son John Lee Hooker Jr. is the truth. I have to check out the whole album to see what he is working with. Killer Song and Guitar work. Classic Chicago and Delta Blues. Well Done.

  • I saw him in Comox (bc canada) and i have to admit i really enjoyed the show. i bought the cd and listened to it again and again. He's got a good sense of humour which is aparent in lyrics. funny guy

  • dude this is awesome, lovin' it

  • 2 Grammy Nominations says it all,

    He is a Premier Bluesman

    Stop hating

  • Got a chance to see him in Roanoke, Va this summer. He's a great showman. He took time before and after his set to stand and talk to folks. My wife and I spoke with him for a good 10 minutes and he came across as a genuine guy. No star attitude... just a regular guy.

  • i like it, it reminds me of johnny guitar wtson

  • He aint his dad, he is himself. JLH was, as Van the Man said once: "a window into the past" - no one but no one can replace JLH - the one and only, and kudos for JLH Jr not doing that but being his own man with his own style, it's blues ffs.

  • totally agree, just great.

  • He can do dis and he can do dat. Not a bad songwriter. Decent singer. Everything is so straight ahead. A little restraint will serve him well.....

  • he is not his dad people. this is "New Age Blues" his dad was the orignal blues. a style yu cant beat. john lennons son is not like his dad with music either

  • So my girl asks me "What kind of music do you like?" The Blues baby . "You mean R&B?" Nah baby. I'm talking about the blues, you now an old black guy with his banjo, sitting on the porch of his shack way down in the south talking about the girl that left him. You know the blues. "Oh you mean kinda like what I'm gonna do to you" Son of a bitch - Someone pass me my banjo

  • Great Video & Arrangement, Killer Guitar Work*******

  • wow whatta an awesome video!;)

  • you guys can bag on it all you want but it still good i mean yeah its difrent from what his dad did and iam a huge fan of his father but hes just tryin to make his way in the world

  • Pretty ordinary. I was disappointed. If he wanted to completely depart from his father's style then he should have recorded under another name.

  • @JohnnyTRex99 Is there any particular reason a guy isn't allowed to play his own music under his own name?

  • @Gre6oriusH : Great comment and great song.

  • niiiice

  • Well, not all bad but no good as well. Anyway certainly it's not f****ing shit... Still it's the Blues. Or kinda. And I don't like junior's music neither!

  • Killer tune, I like it. Awesome voice and lyrics!

  • This is quite possibly the worst song I've ever heard.

  • Its a shame for this guy. Constantly living in his fathers shadow. People seem to just keep saying he's shit but in no way is he trying to copycat his dad. I think he's ok.

  • nothing by john lee hooker is shit

  • U guys need to RELAX!!! Art is in the eye and the ear of the beholder!!!

  • Y'all are a bunch of goofs. Nobody else is as good as JLH either. This ain't bad. I'm not saying it's the greatest, but it's respectable.

  • :'(

  • PURE SHIT

  • F@#king garbage. If this guy ever did LIVE the blues, he just looking for a pay check with pice of shit. The talent and the SOUL died with his dear ole' dad.

  • @nickandjanel Yeah, I'm sure his "dear ole' dad" would appreciate calling his music "F@#king garbage.". :/

  • this is.... horrible

  • ✰✰✰✰✰✢

Merci for Posting this... His website deserves attention also... He's been there/done that in the Game alright... the Real Deal unlike the pussy ass "Blues Purists" here who can ALL go f**k off in their diss-respect of this fine Man who like his Daddy has LIVED the Blues.

  • Amour... this Man knows the Game like his Daddy John Lee Hooker... You won't understand Truth reading Martin Luther King or Malcolm-X... read Iceberg Slim's "Pimp: The Story of my Life" and then You'll know about the Game and Blues and even the mind of Prez Obama the Pimp too... f**k yeah Baby

    Respect.❤LylythR.

  • i guess you people miss the old sound, i mean how the sound use to sound back then, it was warmer, just straight instruments and less dinmics in other words not digitalized, i bet this man sounds good on a acoustic concert and that the song you think is bad for blues, has other potential meanings,NO?

  • He hasn't got a speck of daddy's talent, just a skilled voice. Down right shame.

  • his father would kill him if he hears this

  • wow this is wrong

  • crackhead !

  • he will never be his dad... this is a damn shame, and a smack in the face to all blues legends.. This sounds like shit!!

  • john lee hooker my ass... this shit sucks

  • me neither...

  • I don't like it...

  • Not even in 10%. Also... "Blues Ain't Nothing But a Pimp" - bullshit.

  • not even a shadow of daddy

  • True Say!

  • @ChallengersDeep

Igronant comment, he wont ever be his dad and he probably doesn't want to be a clone either, he has his own style. This song and video is excellent.

  • @sunnydayinperth Exactly, they said the same thing about Hank Williams Jr, but with time, he was able to step out of his fathers shadow. Give the kid some time, he's got potential for his own career!

  • @sunnydayinperth listen to this song. this asshole is trying to make a quick buck off his dad's name. jr is a sellout and this is NOT the blues.

  • @ChallengersDeep Thats your opinion, its wrong, but you are at least entitled to it.

  • @sunnydayinperth well i suppose i dont really relate to this. assuming that you do, i feel kinda bad now...

  • @ChallengersDeep he s young and you re a troll

  • @ChallengersDeep - true but daddy wasn't born the king. he had to polish his skills too

  • wow this really good

  • OMFG! YES JR. IS IN THE BIZ! =)

  • junior rocks

  • SUPER!!!

  • john lee hooker jr?! wow i need to wake up a little

  • cook it, baby.

  • I give him credit for not going the route of modern hip hop, r & b, "rock" etc., but this is too slick, too overproduced. Guess the old days are over.

  • mindfodder - Well, I liked this song.

  • i totally agree with you

  • hi ihr da draussen, mein rücken ist im eimer, meine moral im keller, aber john jee,man der bringt mich wieder hoch ,danke das es solche musik gibt

  • BILLIENT VIDEO!

  • Top of the list !

    something about,

"The apple does't fall far from the tree"

  • gangsta smangsta, its the blues. gangsta bullshit.

  • this video is gangsta!! this should be on MTV show'em what real music is about

  • Cool video, keep up the good stuff! And respect to your father. Boom boom!

  • All rigjht! It reached expectations from the name he's carring!

  • Official honoree of the 13th annual Webby Awards in best use of special FX/ Motion Graphics category

for JOHN LEE HOOKER JR/The Blues Ain't Nothin' But a Pimp

  • Nice stuff! I didnt even know there was a JL Jr.!

  • him and his father are great blues musicans!

  • This CD is as hot as the smoking barrel of a snub nose 38. This is what the blues is all about.

Noone can deny John Lee Jr.s blues pedigree.

    Dave King

    Cross Harp Chronicles

  • Magnifique

    Bon travail

  • c toi ca fab?

  • Great video! It's not the same 'ol stuff you see every day.

  • This video is very cool (even my son thinks so)!

  • John Lee: All I can say is "GREAT!" Great tune/vocals/instrumentals (love the brass); and great video! Clever and unique, congratulations, simply outstanding, can't wait for the CD!

  • @FrankVPhoto I find this a bit sad. His father was great, but jr has a different sound. You must also remember, Senior made his music decades ago, no wonder the sound changes. I find this song quite good!
