Every person has his/her choice of who they think is good or better. All I can say is that people in musical theatre are all good. They've got talents which is why they were chosen for a specific role.
i think that is why i like her Kim better than anybody else. MS is a modern opera. Not exactly an opera but a rock musical. I saw her in Melbourne 2x and i was seated on the third row in the middle. i could see her facial expressions in every scene. it was really a touching and strong performance. much better than anyone I have seen in the USA and OZ.
I am planning to see her again in Sydney or NZ before the tour ends. Laurie is my favorite Kim. She is the best IMHO.

i saw Laurie Cadevid in Melbourne at Her Majesty's for the 2nd time. I was captivated by her strong and powerful voice and a very, very good acting. I also saw her debut on Australian television when she guested on Spicks and Specks TV show last June 20th. Laurie is very beautiful on TV and can carry herself very well in any situation.

This is one of my favortie scenes! I play Thuy whenever I use my original London cast recording! Thuy lost me at the line "And now you'll shoot your cousin". What did Thuy mean by that?! Somebody please tell me I clearly don't understand the meaning of that line in this song and suspensful moment between Kim and Thuy.
I have seen the Melbourne 2007 show four times and will see it again at least two more times. On 28 June, we also get to meet the cast. I can't wait. I even bought the high-end Nikon D80 so I can take high-res photos, particularly of Laurie. She is a natural. The quality and strength of her voice goes very well with her acting, which she has honed even more since 2005. Lea's Tony is well-deserved but Laurie's Kim can hold her own with the best of them. I love you, Laurie. You make us all proud.

I saw Laurie play Kim on Tuesday in Melbourne for the Australia Miss Saigon Tour. She was fabulous! And Stephen Mahy who played Chris was gorgeous (we were so lucky to have had him instead of the more experienced one - I can't remember his name). The only drawback was the heigh difference betwee Laurie and Stephen. Laurie is very short and Stephen is way too tall but gorgeous! I love Miss Saigon and the Australian cast gave it justice. I can't wait to watch it again!

Her name's Laurie Cadevida, and she somewhat resembles Lea Salonga. Yes, she is Filipina and she is also the sister of Star in a Million S2 Winner, Kris Lawrence. She was a two-time reigning champion on Ed McMahon's Next Big Star before being eliminated by Katherine Cue, the show's eventual grand champion. Ever since then, she's performed in small productions. Coming up, she will be the new Kim of the Miss Saigon Australia Tour.
Laurie indeed has an outstanding voice that sounds similar to Lea Salonga although the accent is obvious. The Tam is big.. finding younger Tams tend to get confused as most Kims' complaints of. I couldnt care less about the Thuy here. The Kim rocks!!! Is she filipina?

I wouldn't knock Thuy's singing because the role is very challenging musically and vocally, so cut him some slack. Hitting the high B at the end "You don't know how to kill!" is hard, and this Thuy does it well. I know this because I will be playing Thuy in Miss Saigon this January 2007 in Chicago.
This is one of the best Thuy's Death scene on here. Kim was beautiful. Thuy was okay and does the singing well. However, the direction is not exciting. I hate the fact that Thuy just stands around.
I'm sorry, but this is my favourite bit of the whole musical. You should check out the new CD where Joanna Ampil is Kim. The Thuy on the CD is fantastic.
Laurie Cadevida played Kim in North American Tour for 3 years. She started as an understudy. She also did Miss Saigon and Aida in Wisconsin, early this year.
I followed her career since I first heard her. She is very beautiful and sings very well. She also sang the National Anthem at a Lakers' game in Los Angeles. From her bio, she was a music major at California State University Northridge before she started touring with Miss Saigon.
I've never heard this Kim before, but she sounds remarkably like Lea Salonga...uncannily so. I concur with most here--Thuy is very weak here, but Kim's voice saves the scene.

wow this is terrible. Nothing about it is good except for Kim's voice. Her acting is weak but she sings well. Thuy is HORRIBLE. has he never had any training. WOW THIS SUCKS! to clarify..they had two kids switch between the matinee and night shows..one was a 5 yr old boy and the other was a 7-8 yr old girl..which you see in this clip
That Kim was very good..saw it live..Thuy was decent..more active during the show I saw..and the Tam was a bad choice..they should've just stayed with the little boy..why have an alternate?..and a girl at that..how demanding can that part be?! haha

This Is The Hour tells the reason of why Thuy's been killed by Kim. So,then,Kim takes Tam (her son), and then the Vietnamese soldiers find Thuy's body ,and they declare it as the hour that Thuy was shot and killed on that day he was assinated by Kim.

Laurie Cadevida is just an amazing Kim. no wonder Australia's Miss Saigon audience and critics alike are praises for her outstanding performance as Kim. Even co-stars Leo Valdez and Sophie Katiniz are all praises for Laurie's acting and singing abilities. Laurie Cadevida is my favorite Kim!!

I saw Jennifer Paz, too. I think Laurie Cadevida is way better than Jennifer Paz. Laurie's crystal clear voice and her belting ability makes her one of the best Kim i have seen. And Laurie is way younger than J. Paz. So she will only get better acting and voice wise.

I saw Laurie play Kim on Tuesday in Melbourne for the Australia Miss Saigon Tour. She was fabulous! And Stephen Mahy who played Chris was gorgeous (we were so lucky to have had him instead of the more experienced one - I can't remember his name). The only drawback was the heigh difference betwee Laurie and Stephen. Laurie is very short and Stephen is way too tall but gorgeous! I love Miss Saigon and the Australian cast gave it justice. I can't wait to watch it again!

This my girl Tiny Toon. We were on this tour together; she by far grew in this role and has surpassed any and all of my expectations. She's amazing! Oh yeah, Mario is the guy playing Thuy, great tenor voice.

Her name's Laurie Cadevida, and she somewhat resembles Lea Salonga. Yes, she is Filipina and she is also the sister of Star in a Million S2 Winner, Kris Lawrence. She was a two-time reigning champion on Ed McMahon's Next Big Star before being eliminated by Katherine Cue, the show's eventual grand champion. Ever since then, she's performed in small productions. Coming up, she will be the new Kim of the Miss Saigon Australia Tour.

Laurie indeed has an outstanding voice that sounds similar to Lea Salonga although the accent is obvious. The Tam is big.. finding younger Tams tend to get confused as most Kims' complaints of. I couldnt care less about the Thuy here. The Kim rocks!!! Is she filipina?

I wouldn't knock Thuy's singing because the role is very challenging musically and vocally, so cut him some slack. Hitting the high B at the end "You don't know how to kill!" is hard, and this Thuy does it well. I know this because I will be playing Thuy in Miss Saigon this January 2007 in Chicago.

This is one of the best Thuy's Death scene on here. Kim was beautiful. Thuy was okay and does the singing well. However, the direction is not exciting. I hate the fact that Thuy just stands around.

Laurie Cadevida played Kim in North American Tour for 3 years. She started as an understudy. She also did Miss Saigon and Aida in Wisconsin, early this year.
I followed her career since I first heard her. She is very beautiful and sings very well. She also sang the National Anthem at a Lakers' game in Los Angeles. From her bio, she was a music major at California State University Northridge before she started touring with Miss Saigon.

Laurie Cadevida sounds like Lea Salongs. She is great. I saw her live in Hollywood at the Pantages in 2005. She will play Kim in Australian tour of Miss Saigon in March 2007. She is very beautiful even more beautiful than Lea Salonga. Laurie is my favorite Kim.

wow this is terrible. Nothing about it is good except for Kim's voice. Her acting is weak but she sings well. Thuy is HORRIBLE. has he never had any training. WOW THIS SUCKS! The direction is horrible too. Nothiing about this scene is intense. infact its kind of a snoozer. This scene can be so scary but here it looks like a bad high school fight scene. sorry. don't by it. No way thuy was going to kill anyone. I don't believe him at all. We should count his acting "isms"

This Is The Hour tells the reason of why Thuy's been killed by Kim. So,then,Kim takes Tam (her son), and then the Vietnamese soldiers find Thuy's body ,and they declare it as the hour that Thuy was shot and killed on that day he was assinated by Kim.
