@URanInTheUglyForest Yes - I am glad I have that fork! My aunt threw away everything else and it almost broke my heart. ((sigh)). Thanks for stopping by! - roc
@ladytressa I had the same problem and i found a "cleaning tool" that I bought in a pack at Michaels arts & crafts that is intended for cleaning greenware before it is fired. It looks like a long skinny bottle brush. Prior to finding that, I would wrap a drinking straw with a paper towel to clean my teapot spout but with not a lot of success!
Tearing up again...LOL well one item that i need that i can't find here in our area is a teapot spout brush to clean my teapots well. i figure i will look when i travel to see what i can find.
I tell you-I love going to Kitchen places too-There is a place in Seveirville Tennessee that I love to go to-Its a warehouse type store that has EVERYTHING in it-But i get lost in the kitchen stuff everytime..now my family knows where to find me when we go!!-Jamie
haha that condom-like cap is so cute! hahahaha lol
i like that spurtle! i look wooden spoons to cook with becos they don't conduct heat. and i think that spurtle is cool bcos you can drain with it easily!
I have heard your name all over you tube every now and then so I had to come and check you out since Doug and Beth did a video response to you. You are hilarious!
love your hair (1) and i love kitchen gadgets too! one of my fave stores is the container store coz they have organizational stuff and loads of cool kitchen gadgets.
we watched the galloping gourmet, i loved graham, so much personality and he cooked!!
hahhaa, your squeezie bottle (don't ask me to spell raspberry coulee), i have several, too, but i don't have the little keeper top condom thingies. cool idea.
Oooh, I love all your useful/useless crap things. I love the spurdle. Never heard of them before. I loved the story of your granny's spork. It's sort of like a spoon and a fork becauseit's sort of curled. Cool stuff.
Moosie contacted Graham Kerr and asked where to get another spurtle. Kerr actually responded and said "no longer available, sorry" !! It really is a wonderful tool and I use it all the time. Granny's fork IS special! - roc
Very cool! I like that your favorite things are older, been a round a while and last. Most things today are soooo cheap. Great story about the fork !!!
Yeah, my Granny was an amazing woman. Maybe I will tell my great story about her - she died when I was 13 and I still miss her. I treasure my fork! - roc
I also love kitchen gadgets and could spend all day in one of those kitchen stores. Sometimes you can find the neatest things! Loved seeing all your stuff.. :D
We have a couple of really good kitchen stores in my city, Judy and I always enjoy browsing. I'd like a WilliamsSonoma in town, but we are not big enough for them to come here! Oh well - there is always internet shopping! -roc
Roc, you would love the W-S store! I like to go in and stare at the wall with all the kitchen gadgets. LOL I pick up the fun little tools and dream of all the things I won't make with it. Really it's just Ooo and Ahh time. But I love it. :0)
There is one in Toronto (about 2 hours away from me) that I used to frequent when I worked in Toronto. Lots of fun, but expensive... It is there, I discovered AllClad pots and pans. Pat absolutely adores the frying pan!
No, not French. English is my first language. That "fouetter" word just popped out! It is one of those curious things that sometimes happens to me! I spent 18 months in France at school years ago, and my mind reverts with some phrases or words. I know - it is bizarre. - roc
I was a big fan of Graham Kerr and I am hooked on the food network. You have some great history with your kitchen crap...I love the way you say "thats all thats it". :)
Yes, that's it Sylvain, whip! It is funny how the French in me comes out sometimes. ... or maybe it is just my mind getting older! Fouetter. Such a nice word!

At Lee Valley. Do you have a Lee Valley? It is a woodworking / tool / gardening stuff store. The little red condoms are meant for the tops of glue or caulking tubes. They work well on the coulis bottle! - roc
I don't have one near me but I just found the store online and ordered some...thanks so much for showing me this, it's going to come in handy with with of my craft projects too
ROFL!! I love the mini-condoms. Never heard of such a thing.
Your spurtle looks to have a few less miles on it than my oldest, but even mine has held up amazingly well. That's some pretty tough wood! That new porridge stirrer spurtle doesn't even look like a spurtle. How the heck are you going to drain a pot of spaghetti with that thing?
I went straight to the source. I just emailed Graham Kerr asking if anyone still makes the GG original. We'll see if I get an answer. :-)
You bet the value of your spares increased! WOW!! How wonderful that he responded, and so quickly! Too bad they don't make the spurtle any longer. It is a wonderful kitchen tool and others should benefit from it!
I searched on Ebay - nothing except one person requesting a spurtle. So, ours are treasures! Guard it well and keep it safely away from fire, Moosie!
I am addcited to Food Network. I want all of their gadgets too. Oh you are so lucky to have that fork. I wish I had something like that. Very nice favorite things video. Great job! -jenn
I watched it for the first time this season. Before, I thought Gordon Ramsey was a total jerk. Then I watch his show Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America channel. I understand him better now and like the show.
I just finished reading his book - an autobiography. (he can cook, but he can't write!) He has an interesting story and I quite like him. I, too, thought he was a loud mouthed jerk in the beginning, but he is very skilled and knows what he wants!
i remember watching graham kerr but then he got religion and stopped drinking and he wasn't nuch fun any more. i also love it when you show things. i learn so much.

Graham Kerr...the Galloping Gourmet..I looooooved his show..he was such fun!! I don't cook much either. I decided about 10 years ago I really don't like it, unless I have to..like when we eat. LOL.
I'm so glad you made a response vid to this! I could tell you were a Gadget Goddess too! My favorite of yours is the fork. So many women using it so long, it has a life of it's own. Like the Velveteen Rabbit, it's become Real.
OMG the Galloping Gourmet. I think my sister had such a crush on him back in the day. That fork! The history is just glowing out of that thing. All the people it made cake for. All the kitchen conversations it was there for. Contagious because you shine brighter when you hold it.
Lee Valley sounds like a cool store. I always have to stop a browse Canadian Tire when we're up there.
Every woman had a crush on Graham Kerr! He was funny, a little bit sexy, and, for God's sake, he COOKED WITH BUTTER! Yes, I am fond of the fork! Good memories and great cake! Granny would make this steamed English pudding and serve it with strawberry jam. I can smell it now!
Marylou, you need to google "spurtle" and add Graham Kerr. Then you will see what I have. Just 'spurtle' will show a picture of the thing to stir oatmeal!
Okay - I am getting more used to my hair. It is fussy though. - roc
OMG I love kitchen gadgets. I won so many not that I really cook that much. But if I WANT to I have the right gadget. I don't any that you have though, hmmm I think I need to go shopping. How do you make simple syrup and why don't you just put sugar in the tea?
Simple syrup is one cup of sugar, one cup of water and heat it to melt the sugar, but don't bring it to a boil. This way, the sugar mixes well into the cold ice tea. - roc
Moomay, it is a spurtle. It is great for stirring stuff and with its curve, you can pour water from a pot without spilling everything in the sink. - roc
I like the little red condom the best! :) Funny how we get hooked on stuff - I have wooden kitchen tools that were a gift when my daughter was born - 32 years ago - shoot, maybe earlier than that. However, I'm looking to replace them with bamboo - the cells are tighter and it seems cleaner than wood. But I too loved Graham Kerr - he was so entertaining!
Oooh, good to know! Thanks. I'll be making a trip to the kitchen store or the import place with my son (when I'm not crippled, we cook together.) We love gadgets but resist buying them due to space considerations.
Very interesting kitchen items..I must say..I think your little caps/condoms are the size I used to buy for..well, the who/what are not important..lolol..
very nice its all useful

Marylou, you need to google "spurtle" and add Graham Kerr. Then you will see what I have. Just 'spurtle' will show a picture of the thing to stir oatmeal!
Okay - I am getting more used to my hair. It is fussy though. - roc

Oh I loved watching Graham Kerr. I like watching him cook, but it was so much fun to see him eat what he fixed.
Ah, the good ole days.

Yes, he certainly enjoyed what he made! I liked all that stuff better than the light cooking he does now. Yum, butter!

OMG I love kitchen gadgets. I won so many not that I really cook that much. But if I WANT to I have the right gadget. I don't any that you have though, hmmm I think I need to go shopping. How do you make simple syrup and why don't you just put sugar in the tea?
Ultimatecruegirl 3 years ago
Simple syrup is one cup of sugar, one cup of water and heat it to melt the sugar, but don't bring it to a boil. This way, the sugar mixes well into the cold ice tea. - roc

A what? A spoodle? Love the fish spatchler.
What is a spoodle? A spoon for noodles?
Wow, that's an old fork!

My cutting board is bamboo and it is great. Doesn't weigh a ton and it's easy to keep clean. And, it doesn't get too cut up! - roc

Oooh, good to know! Thanks. I'll be making a trip to the kitchen store or the import place with my son (when I'm not crippled, we cook together.) We love gadgets but resist buying them due to space considerations.

Very interesting kitchen items..I must say..I think your little caps/condoms are the size I used to buy for..well, the who/what are not important..lolol..
have a great day!!!
