  • cooking wand of all wonder mom..

  • @Noveskerifles heh heh - I love your comment. - roc

  • Wonderful history on the fork. It's amazing that it's still around so many years.

  • @URanInTheUglyForest Yes - I am glad I have that fork! My aunt threw away everything else and it almost broke my heart. ((sigh)). Thanks for stopping by! - roc

  • Haha you're cool

  • @ummmmm20 Thanks! Hope you stop by again! - roc

  • @ladytressa I had the same problem and i found a "cleaning tool" that I bought in a pack at Michaels arts & crafts that is intended for cleaning greenware before it is fired. It looks like a long skinny bottle brush. Prior to finding that, I would wrap a drinking straw with a paper towel to clean my teapot spout but with not a lot of success!

  • Loved the video ! Loved the fork !!! When I grew up the old lady across the street would invite me for dinner. She had a fork just like that !!!!!

  • whats a sputal?

  • Tearing up again...LOL well one item that i need that i can't find here in our area is a teapot spout brush to clean my teapots well. i figure i will look when i travel to see what i can find.

  • LOL the mini condom

  • heh heh heh. - roc

  • Thank you for your videos, make me laugh :)) btw, you look really stylish in this your new haircut.

  • I tell you-I love going to Kitchen places too-There is a place in Seveirville Tennessee that I love to go to-Its a warehouse type store that has EVERYTHING in it-But i get lost in the kitchen stuff everytime..now my family knows where to find me when we go!!-Jamie

  • I'd love to see that place in Tennessee, Jamie! Maybe one day! - roc

  • i read all the comments, and it seems like the two things that almost everyone seems to be mentioning are the spurtle and the little condoms lol.

how come the new spurtle looks sooo different from the old one, and yet they are called the same thing?

  • I don't know! I wanted a second spurtle like my old one - the new one is a classic design from Scotland! It certainly is very different! - roc

  • haha that condom-like cap is so cute! hahahaha lol

i like that spurtle! i look wooden spoons to cook with becos they don't conduct heat. and i think that spurtle is cool bcos you can drain with it easily!

  • I have heard your name all over you tube every now and then so I had to come and check you out since Doug and Beth did a video response to you. You are hilarious!

    Brandie

  • Thanks, Brandie! I am glad you found me! It is always good to have a royalhairdresser in your corner!

Doug and Beth are two of my favourites! -roc

  • love your hair (1) and i love kitchen gadgets too! one of my fave stores is the container store coz they have organizational stuff and loads of cool kitchen gadgets.

  • The hair has been a nightmare, Christine, but I am getting used to it... slowly! Kitchen gadgets are compelling! - roc

  • I loooooove kitchen crap, roc! You have especially nice crap if I may say so :)

  • Thanks Liz!!!!! - roc

  • we watched the galloping gourmet, i loved graham, so much personality and he cooked!!

hahhaa, your squeezie bottle (don't ask me to spell raspberry coulee), i have several, too, but i don't have the little keeper top condom thingies. cool idea.

  • The little condom thingy works well, Robin! Order them from Lee Valley! - roc

  • LOL!

You have just got to love the tiny condoms!

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • Yup, tiny condoms. They startled goretexrobo. heh heh heh - roc

  • Oooh, I love all your useful/useless crap things. I love the spurdle. Never heard of them before. I loved the story of your granny's spork. It's sort of like a spoon and a fork becauseit's sort of curled. Cool stuff.

  • Moosie contacted Graham Kerr and asked where to get another spurtle. Kerr actually responded and said "no longer available, sorry" !! It really is a wonderful tool and I use it all the time. Granny's fork IS special! - roc

  • Looks like you have your hair under control now. It's cute

  • Yeah... I am getting used to it, but it is strangely more work. I have to spray it... (( sigh ))

    - roc

  • i love all your useful kitchen crap!!! lol

  • Thanks, Melanie!

  • Very cool! I like that your favorite things are older, been a round a while and last. Most things today are soooo cheap. Great story about the fork !!!

  • Yeah, my Granny was an amazing woman. Maybe I will tell my great story about her - she died when I was 13 and I still miss her. I treasure my fork! - roc

  • Haha its fun watching your videos(:

My Grandma has lots of old kitchen tools I might show them someday :)

  • Please do show them! I think I am going to make another video asking all my peeps to show their favourite kitchen things! So, do it and let me know!

I am glad you enjoy my videos. - roc

  • Ah! you are a coffee drinker! -roc

  • That's so funny, the red cap condom!

  • Yes, it tickled my funny bone! - roc

  • very interesting 'stuff'. i have a small glass & wood butter churn that was my grandmother's that is my favorite useless kitchen item ;)

  • It is these little things that are our favourites, Gail! - roc

  • I also love kitchen gadgets and could spend all day in one of those kitchen stores. Sometimes you can find the neatest things! Loved seeing all your stuff.. :D

  • We have a couple of really good kitchen stores in my city, Judy and I always enjoy browsing. I'd like a WilliamsSonoma in town, but we are not big enough for them to come here! Oh well - there is always internet shopping! -roc

  • Roc, you would love the W-S store! I like to go in and stare at the wall with all the kitchen gadgets. LOL I pick up the fun little tools and dream of all the things I won't make with it. Really it's just Ooo and Ahh time. But I love it. :0)

  • There is one in Toronto (about 2 hours away from me) that I used to frequent when I worked in Toronto. Lots of fun, but expensive... It is there, I discovered AllClad pots and pans. Pat absolutely adores the frying pan!

  • We have a Williams-Sonoma store at our mall!! See, now you have two reasons to come down this way! LOL

  • Oh, Judy, there are really many reasons to come your way! You also have South Padre Island! AND, Williams Sonoma! What's not to like about that?????

  • So, when can I expect you??? LOL

  • um........ when you least expect it!

  • Roc-

The kitchen utensil are cool. I do not do that much cooking, but I do like all the fun tools :) Gigi

  • Yes, me too, Gigi! - roc

  • You're french?! Is it your first language? If so, i would have never guessed, you have no french accent..!

  • No, not French. English is my first language. That "fouetter" word just popped out! It is one of those curious things that sometimes happens to me! I spent 18 months in France at school years ago, and my mind reverts with some phrases or words. I know - it is bizarre. - roc

  • Exactly. I want the KitchenAid, but I really know I would use it once and likely not twice! Stupid, huh?

    - roc

  • I Love all of the those... I kept thinking the new spurtle was a wand XD And lol at little red condoms! Roc you're not afraid "to go there" :D

    Hugs

  • No, Dalton you are right! I'll just about go anywhere... within reason, of course! As long as it is with a bit of style! - roc

  • Of course! Style is Popparoc46! :D I always fail when I try to "go there" lol

  • I was a big fan of Graham Kerr and I am hooked on the food network. You have some great history with your kitchen crap...I love the way you say "thats all thats it". :)

  • Yes, Kerr was a great character. I miss him, but he has changed ... no more butter! - roc

  • Those Are Cool. I Have Some Family Hand Downs Also. ;0)

    Roberta

  • You should show them, Roberta! - roc

  • Yes; I Am Going To Insist My Son Get This WebCam Hooked Up As Soon As I Get Moved. Then I Will Start Posting Some Videos. ;0)

    Roberta

  • I love Food Network and get my recipes from there all the time!

  • Well, I watch it! - roc

  • Fouetter = whip?

I love the old fork. Almost a 100 years old... Wow!

  • Yes, that's it Sylvain, whip! It is funny how the French in me comes out sometimes. ... or maybe it is just my mind getting older! Fouetter. Such a nice word!

The fork is special! - roc

  • You have quite a nice collection of kitchen crap - but my favorite is the worn down fork. Great stuff...and thanks for sharing. ;) -Doug

  • Where in the heck have you been??? I know I know - Kaia is out of school and you are busy doing stuff with her!

Yes, the fork is special. - roc

  • Yep...stuff's been busy. And just so ya know, I am about to upload my response video to this "kitchen crap" video. ;)

  • I loved your "kitchen crap" video!

  • I love all your gadgets and I LOVE the foodnetwork. I watch it daily. My favorite shows are Iron Chef America and Alton Brown. I also love Paula Deen and Ina Gartin. I have a cook pot that was my grandmother's. It has lost its lid and handle, but I use it to cook and mash potatos. Maw (that's what I called her) was born in 1905 and married at 13.

  • Alton is wonderful. I like Paula and Ina too - and Nigella.

Imagine - married at 13. It is a different world we live in today. I bet that pot is a treasure even without the lid and handle! - roc

  • I have to many of these things as well :)

  • Who could live without them, Dave? - roc

  • Like a little condom... so funny!!!

  • Little teeny ones! - roc

  • I'm so getting a spirdle.

  • You are going to love it! - roc

  • I like the bottle cap....mini comdons....never heard of such a thing Roc,I always learn when i watch you!!!Thanz alot!!!!Take care, give Pat my love also!!!!

  • Thanks Jenny! ... yes, mini condoms! Doesn't matter, they work! -roc

  • I have almost all of those item... but I need those little bottle condoms. Where did you get them?

  • At Lee Valley. Do you have a Lee Valley? It is a woodworking / tool / gardening stuff store. The little red condoms are meant for the tops of glue or caulking tubes. They work well on the coulis bottle! - roc

  • I don't have one near me but I just found the store online and ordered some...thanks so much for showing me this, it's going to come in handy with with of my craft projects too

    (((HUGS)))

  • Perfect!

  • ROFL!! I love the mini-condoms. Never heard of such a thing.

Your spurtle looks to have a few less miles on it than my oldest, but even mine has held up amazingly well. That's some pretty tough wood! That new porridge stirrer spurtle doesn't even look like a spurtle. How the heck are you going to drain a pot of spaghetti with that thing?

I went straight to the source. I just emailed Graham Kerr asking if anyone still makes the GG original. We'll see if I get an answer. :-)

  • OMG - I can't wait to hear the answer. I'd love another! Just like you, I need a spare. You never know. Norman (YTShadowKnight) wants one too. - roc

  • I can't wait, myself. I figure if anyone would know, he would, and I found his email address. So...

  • leave it to you to be able to find it!

  • Heheheheee... Around me, ain't nuthin sacred.

If I get a reply from him, I may send him this video. :-P

  • Well, I just got a reply from him this morning, and I quote:

"Unfortunately the Spurtle is no longer manufactured. So hang onto yours!

    Sincerely,

    Kerr"

So there you have it. The price on my spares just went up. LOL

  • You bet the value of your spares increased! WOW!! How wonderful that he responded, and so quickly! Too bad they don't make the spurtle any longer. It is a wonderful kitchen tool and others should benefit from it!

I searched on Ebay - nothing except one person requesting a spurtle. So, ours are treasures! Guard it well and keep it safely away from fire, Moosie!

  • love kitchen stuff ;)

i think i'll have to do one of those useless kitchen crap vlog after seeing this one and a few more

  • Yes, do a kitchen crap vlog! I love seeing stuff! -roc

  • oui oui ze french kitchen vlog is coming up soon!!

  • Oh boy! C'est bon en francais!

  • Its good to see that bottle uses protection.

  • hee hee hee hee! - roc

    PS you okay??

  • I am addcited to Food Network. I want all of their gadgets too. Oh you are so lucky to have that fork. I wish I had something like that. Very nice favorite things video. Great job! -jenn

  • Do you like Hell's Kitchen, Jenn?

The fork is special! I'm very glad to have it! -roc

  • I watched it for the first time this season. Before, I thought Gordon Ramsey was a total jerk. Then I watch his show Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America channel. I understand him better now and like the show.

  • I just finished reading his book - an autobiography. (he can cook, but he can't write!) He has an interesting story and I quite like him. I, too, thought he was a loud mouthed jerk in the beginning, but he is very skilled and knows what he wants!

  • i remember watching graham kerr but then he got religion and stopped drinking and he wasn't nuch fun any more. i also love it when you show things. i learn so much.

  • Bonnie, that is when I stopped watching Graham. I missed the butter! - roc

  • I am addicted to kitchen gadgets as well!!

I figure we have to have the right tool for everything just in case we need it. If we don't have the right tool, it makes everything much more difficult. "Everything" meaning what ever foodie project we are working on at the time. LOL

Wow! You have some cool kitchen tools Roc!

LOL @ the squeeze bottle condom! :0)

I like it when you show stuff!

  • I know what you mean! I love it when people show stuff.

    The mini condoms work well.

Still no card today, Joyce. Maybe tomorrow. That will make me make another video! - roc

  • Shoot. I sent you and Pat both a card each. Mailed them at the same time, from the same place. One had your name on it and one with his name, both the same address.

I think the P. O. is toying with us Roc! LOL :0)

  • I agree, Joyce! I have had issues with them in the past! It will probably arrive today... or next week....??? I'll let you know one way or the other.

  • I love kitchen crap. I have a ton of it. But, I don't have the little red condoms. It's a need to have. LOL

  • Do you have a Lee Valley store?? The little red condoms were about $2! Gotta have 'em! - roc

  • I love kitchen gadgets too. I need a bigger kitchen just for all of the stuff.

  • Yes, me too. There is never enough room! - roc

  • Little red condoms! ROFL! A very good collection of kitchen utensils you have there roc. That first spurtle you showed is pretty cool! I want one.

  • Good luck, Norman in finding a spurtle like that! I searched on Ebay, but (for a change) there was nothing!

Yup, little red condoms. GoretexRobo is in shock! - roc

  • OMG Roc!!! The teeny tiny condoms!! I was laughing so hard!! But that is what they look like..maybe the garden gnomes use them.

Graham Kerr...the Galloping Gourmet..I looooooved his show..he was such fun!! I don't cook much either. I decided about 10 years ago I really don't like it, unless I have to..like when we eat. LOL.

Your hair looks great today!! :-)

  • Glad you enjoyed the little red condoms, Nancy! Everyone love Graham Kerr! - roc

  • I'm so glad you made a response vid to this! I could tell you were a Gadget Goddess too! My favorite of yours is the fork. So many women using it so long, it has a life of it's own. Like the Velveteen Rabbit, it's become Real.

  • Yes, the fork is special! I just hope my granddaughter will appreciate its history, but I tend to think not. Maybe I will bury it with me! - roc

  • Lee Valley Rocks!

  • Yes, it does! - roc

  • OMG the Galloping Gourmet. I think my sister had such a crush on him back in the day. That fork! The history is just glowing out of that thing. All the people it made cake for. All the kitchen conversations it was there for. Contagious because you shine brighter when you hold it.

Lee Valley sounds like a cool store. I always have to stop a browse Canadian Tire when we're up there.

  • Every woman had a crush on Graham Kerr! He was funny, a little bit sexy, and, for God's sake, he COOKED WITH BUTTER! Yes, I am fond of the fork! Good memories and great cake! Granny would make this steamed English pudding and serve it with strawberry jam. I can smell it now!

    - roc

  • I have an aluminum pie plate that my grandmother, mother and I have used. That fork is wonderful.

    ---Tammy

  • Yeah, I love the fork. It pulls at my heart! - roc

  • Some rally cool kitchen gadgets!:)

  • Gotta love them! -roc

  • Love you kitchen gadgets, especially the red baby condoms;-) I have way too many items to even attempt to show. I LOVE to cook & mom taught me well;-)

What is a spoodle?? I shall google it;)

I really, really mean this so please remember I am not blowing smoke up your arse, I adore your hair. You look young, spiffy & spry, yep, adorable;)

    That's all, that's it ^-^

    Hugs,

    Marylou

    xxoo

  • Marylou, you need to google "spurtle" and add Graham Kerr. Then you will see what I have. Just 'spurtle' will show a picture of the thing to stir oatmeal!

Okay - I am getting more used to my hair. It is fussy though. - roc

  • Be careful saying you love baby condoms. Could be taken the wrong way. LOL

  • Van,

    You are correct;-)

Only Roc would find these little guys, reminds me of this little ditty......

    No glove, No love;-)

  • Yikes!! Thanks for the warning!!!  ;-}

  • I have the fish spatchula..the little tiny condoms are very disturbing to me.I am going to have night mares now

  • Tit for tat, GoretexRobo! After all, Bryan payback is fair - with the nightmares you have given me with the horns and Xanadu!

Heh heh heh - little baby tiny condoms. Little tiny condoms... - roc

  • Oh I loved watching Graham Kerr. I like watching him cook, but it was so much fun to see him eat what he fixed.

    Ah, the good ole days.

    :)

  • Yes, he certainly enjoyed what he made! I liked all that stuff better than the light cooking he does now. Yum, butter!

    - roc

  • OMG I love kitchen gadgets. I won so many not that I really cook that much. But if I WANT to I have the right gadget. I don't any that you have though, hmmm I think I need to go shopping. How do you make simple syrup and why don't you just put sugar in the tea?

  • Simple syrup is one cup of sugar, one cup of water and heat it to melt the sugar, but don't bring it to a boil. This way, the sugar mixes well into the cold ice tea. - roc

  • AHHH TY for the education:)

  • Anytime, Rose.

  • A what? A spoodle? Love the fish spatchler.

What is a spoodle? A spoon for noodles?

    Wow, that's an old fork!

  • Moomay, it is a spurtle. It is great for stirring stuff and with its curve, you can pour water from a pot without spilling everything in the sink. - roc

  • I like the little red condom the best! :) Funny how we get hooked on stuff - I have wooden kitchen tools that were a gift when my daughter was born - 32 years ago - shoot, maybe earlier than that. However, I'm looking to replace them with bamboo - the cells are tighter and it seems cleaner than wood. But I too loved Graham Kerr - he was so entertaining!

  • My cutting board is bamboo and it is great. Doesn't weigh a ton and it's easy to keep clean. And, it doesn't get too cut up! - roc

  • Oooh, good to know! Thanks. I'll be making a trip to the kitchen store or the import place with my son (when I'm not crippled, we cook together.) We love gadgets but resist buying them due to space considerations.

  • Very interesting kitchen items..I must say..I think your little caps/condoms are the size I used to buy for..well, the who/what are not important..lolol..

    have a great day!!!

  • Ha ha ha ha ha!! ... little condoms! - roc
