  • I went there in October for their 8 Levels of Horror for Halloween and the park just gave me the chills. I definitly looks negelected and old. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about how the park used to be filled with people and now their is nobody there...I rides were the creepiest park, run down, the paint was chipping, rusty......the empty seats. The perfect place for hallloween entertainment.

    2/6/12

  • I used to go there with my family every summer.

  • i heard this place was haunted in leslie rule's book ghost among us.

  • Nice vid but the panning is way too fast in many shots.

  • This was even worse than Geauga Lake, where I worked for two summers in the '70s. The vibe here was totally evil. I saw Rubber City Rebels play here outdoors one day, realized I had to leave the USA forever, there was no hope. I wasn't even paid by the hour at GL, I basically had to turn tricks for this boss who hit on all us females. I saw horrible accidents, and fathers abusing their wives and kids. Eating the food gave me ulcers and I was fired with no warning for taking 1 day off.

  • Too many stories come to mind as I watch this.

I worked for the Park from 72 to 77 making some "guest appearances" in subsequent years. Even this story is too long...and I have far too many stories to tell. Had the delightful job or returning to the Park to tend (upstairs) bar at the Hotel in 2010.

What a wonderful place it was.

  • I remember when all the steel mills and factories held Company Picnics at Conneaut Lake Park. Westinghouse...RD Werner Ladder Company...Hodge Foundry just to name a few. Wow I miss those days !

  • I live right down the street from Conneaut Lake Park. :)! Its so much fun there.

  • Good subject but much too fast with the panning.

  • Im 35 now , I remember going there when I was a little kid. That place seemed so big. It was always packed with people. You had to wait forever to ride the Blue streak. It sad to see it that way. So many good times . So many memories of friends and family that are not with us anymore. I wish my little girl could experiance CLP the way I did. Watching this video brought me back to the sights ,sounds, smells and feelings of the summers in the early 80's . Thanks CLP.

  • This Is So Sad My Family Used To Go Visit There Every Year:( Its Sad To See Conneaut Lake Park Go.

  • this used to be the high light of our summers. family and school picinics. the hell hole, sea dragon, the arcade, the ultimate trip. we were going to have our prom there and when the park went bankrupt our school lost the down payment. a place in erie donated there ballroom for us to have the prom in.what the hell happened?

  • hahah one time when the park was closed we went there and walked the tracks of the blue streak! it was amazing!! we also went into the devils den too!

  • its open all ten rides but still fun! the gum wall is classic!

  • I was just there about 2 weeks ago for their haunted house it was so fun

  • @GoSaints2009yeah How did it look busines wise?Struggling to stay open?

  • soo............. My mom went there when she was young, It is one of the funnest parks in pa...This park has memories... lovely meories and soon i will go theree........ So your wrong the place is beautiful and ancient soon i will go there.

  • man i went here this summer and it looked like its almost out of business...

  • i take it this was right after the fire and it looked a little dim for the park but it also was winter and they did hay a lot of support i saw i video a while ago before the guy edited it and it was after the fire and it looked like it was going to have a out come like idora

  • This video is crap!!! My family went to CLP a few weeks ago and it sure was not drury and no sad music playing. The park still need work done but the whole family had a great time.

  • The old video was taken one winter.I imagine if the same person would go back now and take the video,it would be better looking.

  • I recently was at the park last Thursday... it may be open... but the happiness and morale of the park has basically ended.

  • Very nicely done. You made a 23 year old cry. It's nice to read comments below and see that this place was special to other people. I know it always was and always will be to me.

  • best park ever and i still go there i like to go to the water park and like the tumble bug and i was on the flying scooters when the straps broke this year and i had to jump out but i still had fun!

  • It really looks different now ,sad to see it that way.

  • They are now open weekends

  • The Audio is blocked.

  • i was a toddler/kid in the mid and late 90's through early 2000's. Im 14 now. my grandparents lived in conneautville, and my cousin lives in conneaut lake. we ALWAYS went to CLP when me, my sister, and my cousins were kids. we would always watch the fireworks. i wish i could go back in time..

  • Conneaut Lake Park is reopening this summer, so you don't have to back in time, you can go foreward.

  • Wow, it makes me saddened that i couldnt visit!

  • I was just looking through a book on amusement parks (The American Amusement Park), and came across this one. After researching it on the web, I came to this sad video. Seems like a great traditional park now defunct as some others have before it. I grew up going to Wildwood, NJ in the summers of my youth and through today. It's changed a bit through the years, but I glad it's still around. I'm 40 now. Love the old parks, , I feel for the others who have lost thiers. Nostalgic and romantic I am

  • This is really sad.. I grew up going to this park. You just succeeded in making a 21 year old man well up over what seems to be a lost childhood memory. Conneaut was one of the biggest parts of my childhood/adilesence, I really wish I could help save the park. I remeber sitting on the peer off Shady Ave. for YEARS watching the fireworks with my dear friends and family. We no longer own a house at Conneaut so my only real memories comes from friends who I have lost contact with and The Park:(

  • very nicely done!

  • Very sad to see Have sent you a video from one off our parks that closed down in the uk in 2007 hope you enjoye

  • ohh w0w y ?

  • i came to this park in preschool.. and through out my childhood and now im 14 and i live near here still. its a shame that it closed. sniff sniff

  • i miss this park i am crying it is bull crap i wish i could help

  • I grew up next to the park as a kid... i worked there 3 summers in a row as i left highschool and went to college.. say 99-01 i think.. Anyway i really appreciate u posting this. I'm a producer living in CA these days.. but i always think fondly of when it was a successful park.. before they put that stupid fence up and started all the probs. ya know one summer they couldn't make payroll a few times? we worked for free from time to time. craziness..

  • Anyone remember ride a rama in the 80's. I lived in Conneaut Lake for most of my childhood and went there every summer. In fact, working at the park was my first job. I was so sad when I heard about the fire. But it seemed like the last straw in a downward spiral for the park. If things didn't change much from when I worked there -- & I suspect they didn't you all wouldn't believed the things that were stored under dreamland ballroom. The park could have been saved were in not for mismangement!

  • Great work Andy. I've watched this just about every day for the past month and a half. I'm a painting contractor from Natrona Heights, Pa and I moved to Florida in 2006. I met with the park director to volunteer to paint some of the buildings and rides in 2005but he never got back to me. My schedule was so busy over the next year that I never had the chance to try and set something up again. So, I visited the park one last time and donated 25 gallons of paint before moving to Florida.

  • Glad you like it. I'm pretty sure if your paint was still there, it was lost in the fire. :-(

  • Yeah, I remember maintenance taking it to the Dreamland Ballroom around back where they stored supplies. If it wasn't used, it probably went up in the fire.

I've been following all the news up there and it's frustrating to be a thousand miles away and not able to do much. Donations for the Clean Up are even being returned since it was cancelled.

I'm putting together a website called Save Conneaut Lake Park to help come up with some ideas and suggestions. I'll make a link to your video.

  • Sounds good.

  • I remember being a kid in the early 90's, not being able to even find a spot for my towel on the park's beach. Ahh, summertime at the lake, I wouldn't trade those years for anything.

  • Very sad. Remember in the 70`s, 80`s when you could hardly get through the place?

  • I'm as dizzy watching this as I was on my first Paratrooper ride in 1984! PS. Remember Fairyland Forest across from CLP?
