Overall around 8 minutes. First part is 2 minutes unitl seperation of solid rocket boosters. Than 6 more minutes main engine firing accellerates it to 28 000 km/h. Later on there is a non powered flight for about 25 min. Then the smaller engines are firing for about 2-5 minutes (depends on which altitude your flight should have) to put the shuttle into proper orbit.
All engines firing at launch are producing around 200 million hp and they burn about 2200 tons of fuel in only 8 min.
I'm watching a digitally encoded video for free on the Internet of men rocketing into space as seen from the vantage point of commoners flying through the air using their handheld computers to capture the event.
What a joy to be alive in the free world in this age!
one of the best space shuttle launch video seen from a plane i've ever seen.
@dmgmsa1 No, not the last. There were two more after Discovery.
The space program costs money. A drop in the bucket when compared to our three wars and world wide policing actions, which combined with the tax cut insanity make cutting manned space exploration an easy target for anti-science right wingers. Never mind that our military budget dwarfs everything else and every other countries military budgets (combined). Didn't you know? It's hip to be ignorant.
@smart451cab sorta yea did u hear that they found water on mars and umm my parents told me that the reason why they stop the space program is because there selling them to pay of Americas debt... and WOW you smart....
@duncan7599 your moms face you fucker! Of course Its real you spaz! Go suck dick fucker! It's what you do best I guess!!! I'll go play with your moms fake titties!!!!!

lol its so awesome, those lucky bastards, when it first started though, the capt, was like ""those of you sitting at the left can see the space shuttle, those of you from the right can see the people at the left watching the space shuttle" lol, i love at the end when it just disappears, damn that things going fast.
