  • Absolutely gorgeous piece! And what an amazing pianist he was! His energetic rhythmic playing reminds me a lot of Rachmaninoff, although his style is utterly unique. Magnificent!!

  • Amazing, one of my favourite medtner pieces, and a gem of a recording! i'd so much like to hear his No 6 Canzona serenata.. if it weren't so shameless i'd say it's the No 1 Sonata in a playably short, enjoyable package.

  • Fantastic! The best of Medtner, both in composition & playing. This piece makes the most friends for NM in my experience as its all concentrated:whirlwind dance in perfect classical proportions, memorable themes, melting central section & variations and his characteristic dark, warm colors thruout. For those who KNOW, this must be among the great pieces in the repertoire.Rachmaninoff was right in his judgement!

  • Medtner also recorded on roll. I have transferred to a working CD this piece, Dansa Jubilosa, March of the Knights and another of the Fairy Tales, all originally on piano roll.

  • Wonderful playing! Thank God he got a chance to really do it in the smaller pieces.

  • i LOVE this piece and this performance is terrific! why his music is neglected i do not know. rachmaninoff thought medtner was one of the greatest composers of the last century.
