The problem with using a psu is you do not get pure dc. That causes the components in the amplifier to break down over time drastically reducing the life of your amplifier, receiver.
if u guys want something stable, buy a power supply with 13 or 14 volts, and min of 20 amps, if u wanna hook a big amp u need a 30 or 35 amp power supply, i got a 14 volts, 30 amps power supply for 100 bucks and is really stable, i have a video about ti if u wanna see what am talking about, i used to use a 500 wats psubut is not enough amps
So I have a power supply with dual 12 volt rails. Is it okay to run them parallel? Would I need a diode for this? I know for two separate psu's you need a diode for each yellow wire.
if you want to be able to power your amp to quite a high volume id go for a 500watt psu at least if u can get hold of a cheap 750watt gaming psu tho go with one of them but in england ther like 160$ so i only got a cheap one. still worked fine
@YOUWANNASMACKDKHEAD when you have to find out which of the 2 blacks connect can you just connect both into the ground on your amp and the yellow one?
psu not powerful enough? what Watt is it,. and try turning the psu on without the amp attatched by just looping the green and black wire on the big connector and if it still does it then the psu is no good.
the highest watt psu you can get for the money you have. although for a 880 watt amp geussing thats max or peak id say 500watt psu shud be fine. if your psu you cuts out when ur listenin just unplug and re plug it back in after abit. no psu can handle car amps aswell as a batery can so dont be disapionted if it cuts out at high vol.

I have a power supply with dual 12 volt rails. Is it fine to wire them in parallel? Would I need a diode for this?

where did you get the blue wire from to loop the green and black wires? like where did u cut it off from?
dcfoxfire 2 years ago
You should, connect more than only one yellow wire to the +, and more than one working black wire to the -, IF u want tu avoid your wire getting hot.
