I have to disappoint you, THIS song is NOT called " SOUS LES PONTS DE PARIS (under the bridges of paris)" but "SOUS LE CIEL DE PARIS (under paris skies, under the sky of paris)" instead !!!
Those two songs are completely different in melody.
Me alegra especialmente, si alguien quiere aprender Acordeón.
When I play on my accordion then I dive into another world of harmony and nice emotions, fantasy and dreams. You can see it within my clips. I travel around the globe just by playing songs - feeling the rhythm and spirit of foreign countries and their people... memories come up into my mind.
Musicians understand that happyness and what I talk about. I'm glad that you share it with me ! Music can be so powerful.
I have to state, that this is a personal arrangement from a radio-transmission many years ago. There were two or three accordions (I don't remember anymore) playing. So I took from each accordion parts and mixed it together within this song. I can't even tell you the year of transmission because I had it recorded on tape for a while (tape tells you, that it must have been already 20-30 years ago at least)... ;-)
hi i had to compliment you on your gorgeousness and affinity with the feeling this song carries...I have a worked with Edith Piaf songs and as my late band described it,'' Piaffinitee on you tube'' I love the French atmosphere and all it brings !
I share your opinion: this song carries wonderful feelings. I love french atmosphere too but I have to say at the same time, that not only Piaf or accordion nor musette is the only thing to love. There are many genres, instruments, great artists - wanting to say: I do have many favorites. Musette, argentinian tango, klezmer, tango nuevo, gipsy, jazz, blues, country, folk, pop/rock, bigband-sound, classics, percussion... there is so much to be loved.
If you want to join a future "virtual project" one day, don't hesitate to enter my group "musicians support musicans" and post your wishes under "virtual projects" - or contact me here on Y.T. I am always interested in those things.
I don't count the years anymore after some decades of pausing I started again. Just read my vita here on my Y.T. mainpage. My aim is to start with other instruments (just started some month ago with panflute, just begun with trumpet, snaredrum, flute, clarinet and percussion). I feel to be intermediate on keyboard and my most beloved instrument is the accordion. My aim is to combine all those playing within virtual projects (and create a CD eventually lateron).
This is the most beautiful composition. I listen to it every night and it always makes me think of the sky above Paris, although I am in Brooklyn. I listened to it as a little girl in Poland and now I have it for everyday use on YouTube. Thank you to the one that posted it up. Magda
Music is related not only to emotions very closely but to memories in special. And you are absolutely right: when I hear this music (not only my playing - but musette waltz in general) I immediately feel "sitting in a french bar/cafè having a cup of coffee within the streets of Paris" or "watching an exhibition of artists" close to rive Seine or on the "champ de mars"... maybe a walk through cartier latin...

Beautiful! Playing like this makes one really appreciate the accordion, so many people seem to simply play pieces of music, not really enjoying the instrument specifically itself you know what i mean. really nice, 5 stars
The accordion is very, very special amongst the instruments. For me it's more like singing: bellows action equals to "breathing", and all singers do know how important breathing is for voice and expression.
The accordion must be part of the body, one needs to feel and act according to it's needs.
The other important thing is to "understand" the song itself - it's structure, emotion, beat, intention...
I try to combine those two things as good as possible.
Was würdest du bei Maigret denn verbessern wollen ?
Thank you for your comment and that you like the accordion's sound and the music I play on it.
I speak german, english, french - for the otherones I have to use onlinetranslators (to make it easy, I prefer to write in english usually, but I tend to answer in the same language a person posted here).
I love your interpretation. It is really crisp! Does that make sense? It sounds polished and professional. In any case Congrats! and I hope I will be able to play like that one day!
Did you use sheet music? because without that is an extra-exceptional piece, oh and i like the german response ;) Tschüs tschüs und thankyou für eine schöne Melodie is that right?
No - I did not use sheets and there doesn't exist a written version as far as I know. It's just a free played version out of my head taken from a former radiotransmission.
Please excuse my answer in german - sometimes I just forget that this is an international channel.
I need to add that my aim is not beeing "bestone" or "one of the best" but to find myself within my music, to express myself throug playing on the accordion. My songs/videos are not perfect and are not supposed to be (mostly test or prereleases to catch ideas and opinions). Aim is showing something special, very personal - own interpretation and ideas. I'm always searching unique, rare music.
oh what a nice comment... I like it when people tell they are dancing to my music, because dancing and music are sticking so tight together.
Nevertheless many songs that I play will be hard to dance on due to changes of speed (i guess at least). My next song (behind the horizon, hinter dem Horizont - Udo Lindenberg) is much work again due to leakage of any (good) sheets. I just started putting together note for note on my PC.... this will take a while for sure.
I have listened others playing this song on youtube. Some of them are professional in skill but you play this with enjoyment and you seem have a different transcription(repeat the theme with different krys). That's why I admire you.
Yes, you are right. The way I play it, is different from what is known as "standard sheets" one can buy. This is from a former radiotransmission (at least the basics, it's a long time ago when i heard it - and i can not verify each note to the same like on that transmission).
This is what i like most: searching for the "uncommon way" of playing, special versions, own interpretations and variations but not the common standard in general. But sometimes i like to play a simple cover too...
Hello again my friend! Listening to this piece again, it is incredible! We have not spoken for a while :D but i thank you for all the notes you have sent me!
Excellent playing as always! i continue to look forward to new videos :)
Fantastic! A wonderful version of one of my favourite French songs. As a beginner I enjoy seeing an expert at work. Thank you for all your videos. I look forward to more in 2009. So I need to keep practising!! LOL
Thank you very much for your comment - but I am not an "expert" (nevertheless, many years of playing behind me). You will hear more from my side! Now, I am working on a duett with "mucklum's" guitar-version of MUSETTE FOR A MAGPIE (creating an accordion-voice / accordion-arrangement including sheets and finally playing and recording that too)
If everything goes the way i like it, i will be able to publish that about mid-january or at least at the end... playing/training just started.
Yes, you are absolutely right. It's one of the "old fashioned, old style"-accordions. They are not build anymore... in the way, they were made like that (and the sound)... what a pity.
Thank you again for this compliment. It belongs to that type of music and the composer as well. Yes, i want to show that former generations had own styles and beautyful songs/harmonies as well. Musette is so rich of those harmonies and melodies ! But many songs are quite hard to play and have complicated baselines or right-hand-fingersettings (so, don't underestimate musette !). One needs much training for good playing. Nevertheless there do exist simple versions for beginners as well.
...loveing irish folk as well - your country has got a lot of nice jigs and reels (some of them are really not easy to play)... beside the famous whiskey ;-)
It is a mix of what i heard on local radio many years ago... played by an accordion-duo... and what is left of it in my mind, with a personal interpretation and arrangement but very close to the original version as far as I can remember. No sheets available anywhere with that specific version (at least to my knowledge today).
Thanks a lot. I'd prefer to have a partner playing with me musette-waltz as duo... but this version is ok with me the way it is. Nevertheless i will try to add some small improvements like phrases, runs, shakes...

No doubt about that --- :-o !
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
Did you use sheet music? because without that is an extra-exceptional piece, oh and i like the german response ;) Tschüs tschüs und thankyou für eine schöne Melodie is that right?
cheeriocheerios 2 years ago
No - I did not use sheets and there doesn't exist a written version as far as I know. It's just a free played version out of my head taken from a former radiotransmission.
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
Nice!! can you post the bass chord please? is it am em am b7? i tried but not right....
aphato 2 years ago
You can play this in several versions - each one with a different "character" but all of them sound good:
Em...... Am...... H7 (simple base version)
or the extended one that I prefere:
Em (add-ins: F#/Em,D/Em,C#/Em, C, B/g)... Am... H7....G#/h7....
and I am sure, there are other versions too that will sound good.
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
Thank you very much for the kind reply i post a video when i master the song! this will help alot ;0)

Tres Bien! Second best version i have ever heard and i've heard a lot.

LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
Please excuse my answer in german - sometimes I just forget that this is an international channel.
I need to add that my aim is not beeing "bestone" or "one of the best" but to find myself within my music, to express myself throug playing on the accordion. My songs/videos are not perfect and are not supposed to be (mostly test or prereleases to catch ideas and opinions). Aim is showing something special, very personal - own interpretation and ideas. I'm always searching unique, rare music.
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
By far....best interpretation on youtube..
tastefully done with so much emotion
Keep it up!

Well - it just sounds in my head... over and over...
never ending. I can't delete it there (and i am glad about this).
A beautyful song for sure.

Thank you for sharing. I dance to your music. So lively. Looking forward to your next real music!
droi74 2 years ago
oh what a nice comment...
Happy Easter to you.
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
I have listened others playing this song on youtube. Some of them are professional in skill but you play this with enjoyment and you seem have a different transcription(repeat the theme with different krys). That's why I admire you.
Happy weekend to you.
droi74 2 years ago
Yes, you are right. The way I play it, is different from what is known as "standard sheets" one can buy. This is from a former radiotransmission (at least the basics, it's a long time ago when i heard it - and i can not verify each note to the same like on that transmission).
This is what i like most: searching for the "uncommon way" of playing, special versions, own interpretations and variations but not the common standard in general. But sometimes i like to play a simple cover too...

Adoro "Valses Musettes"!

LibertangoVieenrose 3 years ago
Thank you very much for your reply.
I meant not only the instrument good,
but also you plays like singing,
what a colorful sound!
This is what I heard several decades ago.
Thank you again.

LibertangoVieenrose 3 years ago
is this your own personal version? Or is this on sheet music?
krystalrearick 3 years ago
It is a mix of what i heard on local radio many years ago... played by an accordion-duo... and what is left of it in my mind, with a personal interpretation and arrangement but very close to the original version as far as I can remember. No sheets available anywhere with that specific version (at least to my knowledge today).
LibertangoVieenrose 3 years ago
bravo then :) You're personal style is very beautiful
krystalrearick 3 years ago
Thanks a lot. I'd prefer to have a partner playing with me musette-waltz as duo... but this version is ok with me the way it is. Nevertheless i will try to add some small improvements like phrases, runs, shakes...
there is always a bit to improve. ;-)

Merci beaucoup martin,
