@bnnkhardcore Is it an expantion of The vox valvetronix amp series i have the vox vt30 and i was wondering is this will expand its modeling capablities
hey, how do you plug this into your line 6 amp?do you just plug the guitar to vox and vox to the "guitar " input or you connect it some other way? cause i do that, and i don't get always the best of sound lol, or atleast the one you get. how do you plug it into the speaker?
@xaviour111 guitar, to this, to the amp. it's marked, guitar in, guitar out on the tonelab. It tells you where to put another cable going out and to the amp. Not rocket science, bro.
Since it has a vacuum tube inside, do you have to replace that tube? and if so, how often? and can it easily be done by myself, or should I trust someone else?
(Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm planning to buy this soon)
can you use an external distortion pedal and use the effects on the tonelab together? let's say i would use a distortion box and use the tonelab's delay? will it work? thanks in advance
You can put this into a cab but it is best if you turn off the cab for that preset for the best tone. The reason for this is that it will end up sounding all phasey and weird and not like the real cab that you are trying to emulate. For example: your Marshall cab will never sound like a Fender Bassman, but you can use the Tweed amp setting to get the Bassman sound and then run that through your own cab. This is the way to do it for any amp emulator for best results
@tynok2094 neither. This pedal aims to replicate sounds produced by classic tube amps (they have 11 amp and 33 cab models). Let's say you have a mesa boogie dual recto head and a 2x12 orange cab and the combo produces a certain sound, then you can select the amp and cab models in this pedal that aim to replicate that sound.
@bnnkhardcore So am i still able to use it with a solid state amp. I know it sounds like a stupid question but i don't want to waste two hundred dollars
@bnnkhardcore I'm weary about getting the right distortion pedal or multi effect processor.More so the multi effect mainly because I might loose the analogue sound of my amp.But it sounds pretty good in the video. And also it sounds like it has some sustain which i definitely want. Can you elaborate on my concerns a little.
@simplemelodia I've used both in the studio quite a bit and POD has like 2 usable sounds. The vox has a shitton. I just bought one based on my experiences. POD is massively more popular.. not sure why... *shrug* It has more generic modern sounds and all kindsa current artists endorse them... so that's probably why. I've been playing for 20 years since I was 7 years old.. and VOX in my opinion is way way way way more dynamic.
If u never bought one try a pocket pod or this one here those are really good. with this here you can switch between sounds quickly yes not with pod (need extra pedal for pod switch) you can use it on an amp a cabinet or right to your soundcard mic line in. if u have the money you should buy a boss gt 10 (450 €/§)
I was thinking of the me70 from boss? Sounds affordable and with a lot of sounds. I play live so being able to switch is really important. Anyway does the pod x3 series have a harmonizer?

this is good for when you want to have alot of effects but dont want to carry all the pedal?or when instead of wasting money on a bunch pedals you have em all right here right
i hate it when really good equiptment like that jackson fall in to the hands of people who cant play well, work on getting the notes rather than getting the equiptment.
@blazemite "fall"? Instead of masturbating with the guitar for 6-7 hours a day like you, some people gotta go out there n' work their ass off in order to buy the gears the love. So even tho they are not able to play at ur outstanding level, they can enjoy playing with the stuff they work hard to earn
Or possibly a fender strat with texas specials or les paul with 57 classics or even an sg with 490/498 humbuckers. What im trying to say is there is no top notch high quality jackson, maybe the phil collins signature, and thats still crap. Dont even get me started with schecter. ive seen schecters at my local hastings witch is a book store.
you just have to go up and down using the stomp buttons, which is a drawback of the ST. Another shortcoming is that there's no midi in/out so you can't use an external controller for quick patch changes
The distortion sounds like one of those Krank amps hehe. It just has that little extra oomph over Line 6 I can tell that much. You can tell the pick attack is not fake sounding like Line 6. Always the same no matter how you pick.
Does your ST come with a Van Halen preset? and how many effects can u use at once? I want to use phaser along with delay at the same time. Thanks! Great demo
Can someone tell me if or how do you go from say, patch 2 to patch 10 without having to keep incremating in singles? please. Just bought one and doesnt show anything.
Tube amps are a lot more expensive than solid state amps. I have a Fender solid state 100 watt amp. I use the tonelab to give me the tube sound for a reduced price
Omalley, do u really notice the tube tone on this thing? i havent tried one live yet so..i dont know, and i was wondering if this pedal has some kind of Whammy, hope u can help me
Yup. I had the SE (still not knowing why I sold it) which was basically the same but with more buttons ;) I modelled a Marshall JCM800 with a boost pedal with it and the sound was fantastic! The tone was so thick that you almost could cut it with a knife. In my opinion it just has some minor issues with noise (If you simulate a cranked up high gain amp). The onboard noise gate didn't work too well in my opinion, but it's a 1000 times better than most "pure digital" amp modellers on the market.
i used to have a gutairport, which was pretty cool but sounded very digital too me like all line 6 (not dissing on line 6 tho pretty cool for the money) and I had to sell it to pay rent, so now I'm going to buy the tonelab st cuz u can use it on computer or an amp, etc, and it has a pretty decent tube sound with the tube in it. anyways, ive looked everywhere and cant find out if you can use it with a program like guitar port or GTR, a live play, computer amp type of a thing, does anyone know?
Hey dude! I got the tonelab too. but i cant record with it using USB connection. adobe audition or any other programs wont record the signal. what program do you use?
There should be a website for you to download the software from. If its not in the packaging, google "vox tonelab software" or something like that and you'll be able to find it. If your really lazy I can find it for u. btw how is it? I really want one!
THanks guys, already figured it out. although i still dont know how to record so that i can hear myself playing... aa who cares.
It is a really great effect board for homerecording. quality amp models and effects. And the USB sound librarian is very useful if you want to modify the patchlist. All in all if you want a great little pedal just for much less money buy this. If you have the money try GT 10 :)
ST is a vdery good piece of shizzle. You know you can also change the tone/ dist/ etc. to match the exact song... to do it you go to a song preset.. say 60 (smells liek teen spirit) and you turn the knobs, a little dot will appear on the LED screen if it matches correctly! have fun! and read the manual.

i used to have a gutairport, which was pretty cool but sounded very digital too me like all line 6 (not dissing on line 6 tho pretty cool for the money) and I had to sell it to pay rent, so now I'm going to buy the tonelab st cuz u can use it on computer or an amp, etc, and it has a pretty decent tube sound with the tube in it. anyways, ive looked everywhere and cant find out if you can use it with a program like guitar port or GTR, a live play, computer amp type of a thing, does anyone know?

Hey dude! I got the tonelab too. but i cant record with it using USB connection. adobe audition or any other programs wont record the signal. what program do you use?
Csuvog 2 years ago
There should be a website for you to download the software from. If its not in the packaging, google "vox tonelab software" or something like that and you'll be able to find it. If your really lazy I can find it for u. btw how is it? I really want one!

You should use ASIO if your soundcard supports it. Adobe Audition should be able to do the job as long as you route the signal path correctly.

You know you can also change the tone/ dist/ etc. to match the exact song... to do it you go to a song preset.. say 60 (smells liek teen spirit) and you turn the knobs, a little dot will appear on the LED screen if it matches correctly! have fun! and read the manual.

can you use it as an audio interface with other modelling software (amplitube, guitar rig etc)
tsatsaronisnik 2 years ago
Yes. I used the podxt USB cable to record directly with cubase/audacity. I posted a sample just now.
