  • However, please try to understand and follow at-least to what we utter in our liturgy for being like an Orthodox Christian. Then you will come to know what is there in that picture (not an icon) which is against our Orthodox Church's teaching. It is good to have ecumenism between churches and through that we can consider that all are equal before Christ. I even uphold that, however our doctrines, fundamental beliefs and dogmas which were upheld by our early great scholars cannot be disregarded.

  • This is what we are affirming in the second stanza of our Nicea Creed which is considered as the completion of all the prayers. You may be against the Protestant teaching which is just because it happened in the recent history; remember that similarly only church's stand on Catholic devotions and similar teachings. Oriental Orthodoxy and the theology of it is something vast to understand.

  • If you are a devout orthodox, then understanding and following the oriental orthodoxy it in the right sense is also important. Remember for why we rejected the dogmatic definition in AD 411 held at the Council of Chalcedon. We Oriental Orthodox adhere to the Miaphysitism which hold that in the one person of Jesus Christ, Divinity and Humanity are united in one "nature" ("physis"), the two being united without separation, without confusion, and without alteration.

  • a small request... could you give some credit to sruthi and m.p. george achen in these video descriptions? thanks!

  • the best song i love

  • hey nice video...is there a way that i can get the lyrics in syrian..would really appreciate that

  • The sacred heart picture of Jesus Christ during 00:58 - 01:00 is not an Orthodox icon. It's just a Catholic devotion, which is against Orthodox doctrines and traditions. A lot of us are using these pictures without proper understanding of the doctrines. Please correct if possible.

  • back in 1052 AD, they (Orthodox) were against icons and such but a few hundred years afterwards, they began to accept them and all churches have at least one icon. why else do you think they allow for people to pray in front of a large st. thomas/gregorious (or whatever saint icon is present) icon after the service?

  • I agree, a lot of our churches use just any picture even though it may be Protestant or Catholic.. Good point.

  • excuse me, i am an devout orthodox, and i think it really does not matter if its catholic, its a depiction of Jesus and rejecting that would be wrong in God's eyes, under Gods eyes, all sects of Christianity are equal, get ur facts right

  • @malankaraothodox94 Actually, it really does matter what kind of icons (holy images) we use in our churches. There are canons in the orthodox church that direct us in the writing of icons. Icons are visual expressions of our faith - they're symbolic. The way in which an icon is made is quite important.

Also, I would have to disagree with the statement that "all sects of Christianity are equal." The truth is non-negotiable. Either we have the truth, or we don't.

  • @jmkora yes you are right in a way, its the truth or not, orthodoxy belief is the truth or it is not, maybe for an extremely devout orthodox its important for the right icons to be present, but for someone like me, who just wants to praise God, it really does not matter. but under God, all is equal

  • @malankaraothodox94

We believe that we have been entrusted the true faith and worship, handed down from the Apostles, through the generations. Icons are made with specifications. It doesn't matter whether one person cares or not, there are rules governing the creation of icons. If all are sects are equal, as you say, why does Orthodoxy matter?

  • @jmkora I guess ur right, what I probably tried to say is that god does not judge according to your specific sect, but your actions in your life

  • I am so glad that our brethren in India Chant in The Syriac Language,

That was spoken by Our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Words can't describe how great this sounds..we really do need more and more of our liturgical music on here..they mean so much..Thanks buddy, great job!

  • Beautifully composed, Really Superb, Expecting to see more such. Let's bring back our old heritage of the divine Syriac language more into common through these kind of initiatives. Wishing you all the best.
