  • My great, great uncle was Eddie Burbanks!!!

  • SIMPLY THE BEST, BETTER THAN ALL THE REST.

  • Raich Carter was a football legend but like many fine North East players, he only won a few caps (13, although he did lose 7 seasons to the war). The great Sir Tom Finney includes him wiith Wilf Mannion and Stan Mortensen (also sons of the North East) as the three inside forward he would choose from in his ideal team. Coming from the great Sir Tom himself, recommendations don't get much better than that. Raich was by all accounts one of the all-time great English players.

  • @SouthCoastMackem I saw Carter in action on more than one occasion. So if you're curious about what he was like on the pitch just LMK, mate...

  • I have 2 tickets from this match if anyone is interested in buying

  • The Preston side included a young Bill Shankly in defence, who would later say that the Dutch 'Total Football' team of the 1970s reminded him of the 30s Sunderland team.

  • @ about 0:31: England LEGEND Raich Carter!!
