Actually we had been hitting 70mph on the straight during hot laps, now the track is asphalt and we are doing closer to 80mph. Maybe you are seeing racing on smaller tracks? The speedway is Albany Saratoga Speedway at Malta, NY.
Dong2phat4u I'm 15 and have been racing for my entier life and it is crazy fun you should really look in to it and would like to see you racing in the future
where are you racing at? I'm in North Texas. Right now I've let of the dirt track a little and brought out my dune buggy racing beast that will crush my dirt car in acceleration once it's done. I am putting a FZR 600 engine/trans in it, it'll haul AZZZ
Is this professional racing? Would it be difficult to get involved in this kinda racing(amateur) as a hobby? Start a team? I am 32 and have no experience.
That's about $5000 initial investment, not accounting for tools and spares, and buying a used car, which is definitely the cheapest way to go, and assuming you have a truck to tow the car to the track. You learn as you go and although the car is only, say, $3-4000 used, you spend $5000 a year in tools and repairs.. But you only live once. I only race 5-8 times a year right now. I spend a lot on this hobby but wouldn't have it any other way.
naw, I just found a COMPLETE and race ready completely fresh dirt track car for 1000 (it was an elcamino with the chevy boy symbol: 350CID). full suit, helmet with internal radios (though yu don't use tose in dirt racing), and 2 other radios without the helmet and visor for 800. A trailer can be borrowed from a friend, or find one cheap and install a tool box yourself for 600 bucks.
If you don't know anything about what it takes to get a stock car to handle well on dirt, you are going to run at the back of the pack. I would recomend subscribing to Circle Track magazine, and read all the technical articles you can get your hands on. On these short tracks you are spending more time in the corners than on the straightaway, so work on handling first, and when you've got it working good, build a faster motor.
are kidding me ? these cars don't do 70mph down the straight. i've been watching racing since i was 1 week out of the hospital. i'm 16. street stocks may be fast but not that fast. at least not everytime. the sportsman cars are lucky if they do 70 down the straight everytime.
@lilcindilouwho yea lol i race dirt track. wen u watch its like these r slow! wen ur raceing. specially streeter n superstock. wen ur in the car ur flying.
There is no back wall.....I think its funny when people come to the track I do, look at the wall and go, I WILL DIE IF I HIT THAT!....the sad thing is when I go to theirs you don't hit walls, you slide of the track and hit a tree.....so much safer!
That guy talking needs to be somewhere bigger......he's actually quite good at making the race sound exciting.
