  • It's a shame that no one got to hear Dave's solo, from the small little pieces of it that I heard, it was brilliant.

  • i do finally have the live concert CD, and i can't stop listening :P

  • Comment removed

  • why dave's solo is so silent? :/

  • @muchacha2808 It is not only on this song either! And i really HATE it! It is extremely sad, that he is so silent during the entire show actually. There must have been something wrong with the sound, going out to the microphone recording him :(

  • adrian smith isn't from this world!

  • bruce isn't wearing a german uniform, it's a british uniform from the first world war

  • @edheadward its actually a hungarian helmet, and just black over coat and trousers

  • Love that poem at the beginning (I think it's called "Anthem for a Doomed Youth", but I forget who wrote it). It really fits with the nature of the song.

  • that's such an awesome song :)

  • if this was a spine chilling experience just by watching the video, imagine watching this live...

  • haha lol i maked a song on school with same title lol

  • @Daffo2010 Maked? Dude my dog has better grammar than you

  • Isnt bruce wearing a german uniform?

  • Save and Janick are really quiet. The CD isn't like this

  • the only problem is that Dave's guitar sounds preety muted...but that is the crew's fault...

    Awsome performance :D

  • best rendition of a heavy-metal anthem ever!!!!!

  • if you havent seen maiden live yet, you deserve a slap lol

  • @89Wrathchild I live in Pakistan. My chances of EVER seeing them live are as good as zero :( Slaps for me! :P

  • @CouchPotatato well, they played in India in 2008, so you have no excuse!

  • @89Wrathchild India and Pakistan are bitter enemies. I wouldn't have gone even if I had the means to. I'd be curry-raped :P

  • @CouchPotatato I'm aware of the politics of your neighboring countries, but it's not like most people (not me anyways) can tell the difference between a person from Pakistan and a person from India! As long as you weren't running around screaming "ALLAH!!" then you would've been fine lol. Have Maiden never toured in Pakistan?

  • @89Wrathchild LOL. Nobody ever visits Pakistan :( Our terrorist image scares em away. And btw there's a LOT of difference between Indians and us. For one, we have a much lighter tone than them and we don't have the stupid Apu accent either

  • Why was this cut from the live album??

  • 6:33 = JIZZZZZZZ

  • This is epic

  • Bruce is dressed like a german soldier?

  • @wohololao

I think its a mix of several, but I know that isn't a German Helmate

  • they should use some real fireworks

  • 7:04 hell yeah!!!!!!!!

  • HOLY FUCKKK!!!!

  • <3 UP THE IRONS!

  • this is a massive masterpice Up the Irons FROM PR \m/!!!

  • those are enough lights to give an epileptic duck a seizure, you gotta love iron maiden.

  • JANICK!!!!!!

  • @timosha21 BIG TIME :D

  • the studio version is crap compared to this :O

    Up the Irons!

  • @Aarisure its not crap compared to it lmao. The studio version of the song is still incredible... however, the live energy does suit this song very well, and I prefer this version over the studio as well.

  • it makes it even kinkier if your a fat old dude just trying to get off.....

  • I'll visit Ypres tommorrow with my class, I'll be thinking about this awesome song when we will read the poem from the intro.

  • i can barely hear poor daves solo

  • do this DVD got something else apart from the concert??

    great song!

    UP THE IRONSS!!!

  • Yeah its got some interviews about making the album and clips of them recording the album,

  • Man bruce dressed up alot in that show.

  • @Ajepson2 all about making the best possible atmosphere for the fans man! LOVE MAIDEN

  • 6:25 my favourite part. it's awesome solo <3

    UP THE IRONS! \m/

  • Brilliant story and music. Peace.

  • Its such a shame that its so hard to hear Dave at all on this tour, his solos are amazing, judging purly by how it looks like he played them!

Still the best band ever though!

  • and the same thing happened to dave on there flight 666-some where back in time world tour.

  • couldnt hear daves guitar to well

  • Yep, we can't hear the best solo of the fucking album: Dave's.

  • Tottally agree dude but you got to admit Adrian fucking rocks...

  • Of course, Maiden wimped out when Adrian left.

  • glad he came back thoe

  • Nicko doing a great job!!! great show - sound - everythings good in this band. Saw them live. Absolute perfect

  • IRON MAIDEN es la mejor banda del mundo.......up the irons from Ecuador

  • first he says tell the tale, then he says tell the world

  • About 6.00 gave me tears and goosebumps. IRON MAIDEN FOREVER!

  • nick's fill there is one of the best. it's like a punch in the face

  • i love this song.

  • 7:25 gave me goose bumps

  • 8:54 even more :D

  • 0:01-10:17 gave me goose bumps

  • If you are a real Iron Maiden fan

    copy this text

and paste it with your country name/ +uruguay+

  • UP THE IROOOOOOOOOOOONS

  • shh teeny-bopper smex :p

the only thing you need to put should be clear...

    UP THE IRONS!

'kin love this song, hope one day they bring it out again, just so potently written. Adrian owns face when the solo hits.

Kinda a shame bout the sound tho, fades a bit, but that seemed to be a common issue on the DoD tour.

    Iron Maiden Forever

  • UP THE IRONS

  • that isn't a ww1 helment

  • Sign of the cross live in rio 2001

    is their best live song

Nickos drumming is fucking godlike and orgasmic

  • i disagree, i like it more the blaze version. Maiden's best live song with dickinson might be dance of death, phantom of the opera, or powerslave.

  • no bruce sings it way better

  • i agree dickinson is way better than blaze, but not exactly in that song. as the past songs from when dickinson left the band were made so they were adjusted to blaze's vocal ring, that song is better appreciated with the unique vocal cords and vocal ring blaze has. Dickinson's version is fantastic, but as i said it is more well appreciated from blaze.

  • Perfect...

  • 05:57 steves voice is awesome ^^

  • you can hear Bruce talking at the beginning.

  • OH REALLY!??!!?

  • Muito massa (very well)

Paraná - Brazil - UP THE IRONS

  • of every live song Iron Maidens ever done, this, by far, is their best! Fear of the Dark(Live At Rock in Rio) was VERY good but even this song live passes it! UP THE IRONS!

  • Clansman - Rock in Rio

    Best live IM song ever.

  • Hallowed be thy name-Death on the road

    Best Live song ever!

  • DANCE OF DEATH!!!!!!

  • Hammersmith '82 is the best they've ever done that one.

  • agreed. my favorite part is when he starts singing "Blood is falling like the rain......."

  • Love that part- Dickinson is one of the most talented metal singers EVER.

I'm not a big Blayze fan, but Paul Di'Anno was good on his own stuff.

Bruce has the range and more importantly the intensity.

  • hell yeah

  • great song. Adrian is genius :D

  • amazing solos, daves is better on cd, you can actually hear it lol

  • lyrics on the side are wrong lol. for this live its "tell the TALE of Paschendale". :P

  • you are right

  • the boooodiiies of uuus and our fooooes

  • Where is this concert?

  • Dortmund - Germany

  • This song gives me the chills...I love it!

  • The best song Maiden ever made!

  • Fucking Amazing Adrian's solo!!

  • one of the best songs in the world!!

  • i was wondering if any of our canadian friends have seen the film "passchendaele" ? the film reviews i've found are rather mixed.

  • It was okay. Too much love story and not enough battling. If you're looking something on par with Saving Private Ryan (as far as battles go), then this isn't the movie. It was a good attempt at Canadianizing a war story, though.

  • can anyone write the speach before the song, please. my english is bad and i don't understand a word. thanks

    up the irons!!!!

  • What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?

Only the monstrous anger of the guns.

Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle.

    No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;

Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,

    The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;

Lines 1-3 and 5-7 of Wilfred Owens' "Anthem for Doomed Youth"

  • Aww, I love solo at 7:45 ... And 7:25 of course. I love Paschendale, I love all of Iron Maiden songs, I love Iron Maien. UP THE IRONS! \m/

  • I love this part 07:25-07:45 and that synt. is awesome

  • hehe, bruce looks like one of those super-mario mushrooms :D

  • hehehe super mario mushroom

    you're right dude

  • super mario dickinson :D

  • wtf,mushroom?

  • março eh brasil porra !!!

    iron rulez

  • Death on the Road

    FOREVER IRON MAIDEN !!

  • Anthem for Doomed Youth..the lighting and the sound effects before the riff starts ups the power of this song tenfold at least. sends shivers down the spine.

  • makes me proud to be canadian. They just did a movie about this war... $20 million, which is the biggest budget ever. Of course hollywood can quadruple that amount, but there would probably be american flags in it and that's not worth it.

  • Absolutely badass. My favorite Maiden song

  • I love his speeches before songs especially this one

  • this live version of Paschendale is kiss ass

  • acctually i ment to say KICKS ASS,my mistake :D

  • I believe the battle was in Belgium :P

  • you right :) I live close to pashendale :)

  • cool, bring me some good Belgium food :D

  • Isn't is spelled Paschenndaele or something like that?

  • yes, it is, but its easier for people who cant speak french to pronounce when its spelt like that

  • It is not french, it is dutch (flemish).

  • ok.... its easier for people who only speak english then

  • Great Song, Great Performance, Great Everything. UP THE IRONS \m/

  • eddie was originally a man who sent thousands of his(pretty damn ugly) pictures to them and then eventually became theyre mascot... XD

  • untrue, it was actualy a joke between the band and started off just as a head on the stage: Ed the 'ead... gettit?

  • for gods sake guys stop talking bullshit about the WW1!!! it was like 90 years ago and unless you are a complette idiot you wont be reminded of that crap that happened long ago!!! you are wathching this vid to see iron maiden preforming Paschendale not to be commentating the fucking WW1!!! I MEAN IT'S A WAR AND IT'S NOT GOOD!!!!! amazing song i love it and i think its so true, every single lyric is so fucking true!!! so if ya want to revisit the WW1 do us a favor and dont mess the coments here!!

  • "A song about an epic World War I Battle in Germany"

wasn't the battle of paschendale in Belgium not Germany?

  • it was, in the village of paaschendaele

  • having been in WW1, I really feel where these guys are coming from

  • Uh, you do realize, of course, that WW1 was over 90 years ago... meaning if you were 18 when you fought you'd be 108 now

  • You haven't been in World War NOTHING, pal....

  • I think its a nice touch that Bruce is wearing the German trench coat and "coal scuttle" steel helmet.

Showing respect to those that fought on both sides of the war

  • Epic song.

  • i love this song.

Was learning about Paschendale in school and it reminded me of Iron Maiden <_<

  • Bruce sure has a knack for the theatrics

  • i donno, but i cant hear murrays and gers solo, adrians i normal loud, strange o.O

  • adrains solos r godlike

  • *Wilfred Own

  • The speech Bruce says before the song is part of a famous poem called 'Anthem for Doomed Youth' by Wilfred Own :)

  • This is really good! But the low volume at daves solo is bad.

  • its normal that because he set hes volume clean so that lower it volum but for me i hear almost nothing a jannick solo :s

  • Great job man! W/ the lyrics, this song rocks!!!!!

  • very very good!!cant wait till 16aug. in assen holland! up the irons!

  • LOVE IT!

  • i was looking up the battle of passchendaele(which is the correct spelling) and found out that a feature film about the battle will be released in canada on november 11. no news about release dates anywhere else in the world.

  • thats pretty cool, hopefully you can post it on youtube for us aussies :)

  • you want the publisher suing him for posting copyrighted meterial? :P

  • Well they can just delete it if they don't like it hey, I think the publisher has better things to do!

  • Awesome

  • LOL, the battle of Paschendale was in belgium, no in germany Pavo4!!

    Maiden Rules!

  • Gotta love Dave's solo face.

    XD

  • yea :D

  • Yep, lol.

  • pure awesumness

  • one of iron maiden's best!! their lyrics are very epic and deep.

  • AWESOME!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG! It's my second favorite next to Hallowed Be Thy Name

  • Bruce is 100% British Accent there...

  • Why is the audio always so screwed up? All you can hear is Adrian. I'd like to hear Dave and Janick better.

  • "evil has a human heart and the man does play his part, terror of the men we kill, the human heart is hungry still" - my favourite line in any song, ever.

  • Eddy2394 ITS CRUELTY OF HUMAN HEART

  • Yes, i realised that later on, thank you.

  • I think this is one of their best songs. Just epic.

  • good
