I'm surprised you didn't link them at 6:50, press the links buttons right next to the eye and all layers linked move at the same time so you can rotate both layers and keep them the same distance apart!

@SkylarJackson That isn't always necessary because the spacing wasn't even when he put the text to path. If he'd linked them they wouldn't have been evenly spaced in the end.
