@AC130EMPYREAL because an acceptable lift in powerlifting is that you break parallel (hip crease in line with the knee joint). A wider stance allows that to happen at a shorter distance compared to high-bar olympic style squatting
i got the same think last week but with less weight (310 pounds) it went to slip behind and i pushed it up and the weight just brought me down. The time kinda froze then i felt like i m gonna have a big accident but i was ok and continue normally my workout. The next day my lower back muscles were soar like a i did a heave dead lift
You obviously don't' compete. You attempt the weight, if you can squat 500 and you go for 515lbs you will fail. But you still push up as hard as you can, and the spotter get the extra weight that you can't push, so you don't get crushed. This guy dropped the weight on the way down, not the way up.
If you wrap your knees tight you should have an equally tight suit to even it out otherwise tightly wrapped knees have a tendency to shoot up again forcing your to lean too far forward. It is obvious you can control this weight.
Those spotters needed more guidance. Five guy shoulddn't have dropped 530. I have spotted some big weights (1100+)and caught a lot of them. A spotter needs to be close to the weight and needs to grab the plates when the lifter fails. This grabbing the bar from arm's length shit won't work and it gets folks injured.
i guess that was a blooper? kinda?
AC130EMPYREAL 3 weeks ago
@dimitrov: exactly what I was thinking. I mean it's only 530. It's not like it's 1000. That would be understanding lol
brink2992 8 months ago
Is it just me or are nearly all squatting accident videos the fault of the spotters. They fucking catch nothing!!
dimitrovBxr77 9 months ago
lol hehe doggystyle indeed...
skardinius 9 months ago
Why did you shift the bar over your head?
COOPZILON 11 months ago
how come on power lifting squats the stance is so wide??
AC130EMPYREAL 1 year ago
@AC130EMPYREAL It vastly reduces the range of motion that the lifter has to go through and hence less work is performed by the muscles

lmfao whats the point of having 5 spotters if they're not going to help you when you need them?
McMarkyMark 1 year ago
what happened? i see your left foot move, did u lose lumbar tightness? did u lose your valsalva?
ya, the spotters on either side, let the bar drop through. prolly lack of experience on their part.

@mohammad112388 that has NOTHING to do with what happened. And no, you don't want your head down.

Good way to break you neck.

I haven't seen a spotter yet that did a damn thing to help any lifter. They only react AFTER the lifter screws-up.

Spotting?
xXDK7Xx 2 years ago
No way, not when the lifter loses leverage like that, you can't expect the spotters to be able to support that unless they're some pretty big dudes.
dend027 2 years ago
thats why you do squats in a rack so you dont die if you cant get it
nathoniel01 2 years ago 2
Safety pinned racks aren't allowed in powerlifting.
dend027 2 years ago
That's some good spotting work there, Lou.

lilaxboy11 3 years ago
@lilaxboy11 I did it with 400 in but the saftey bars on the squat rack caught the weight. My neck felt like a peach the the next morning though.
