just watched the fim last night, if i hadn't known that this was the ending i would have been crying, i was close to it tho. on one hand i would have loved for the two to live happily ever after, but on the other hand, it makes the story more tragic and even more emotional, the film is definitely one of the greatest films about a gay relationship out there atm, but lets hope some happier films come out in the future!

I prefer gay movie with happy ending.

I think some gays has a miserable life already. they would like to watch something that energize them. and also for people who aren't gay they could know more about gay better in a good way. just my opinion.

This is very sad. Everyday I wake up next to my bf I tell him I love him, before watching this clip it was always hard for me to say to him. I use to think actions spoke louder than words but hearing it can speak volumes as well.

I never saw this movie but the scene in the car is very moving. A tribute to his acting.

this was really sad AGAIN sigh. i overall really liked it tho, it wasnt corny campy gay, yea those r ok but i prefer more serious with little humour interspered like this one :) But yea, why oh why cdnt it have ended differently. Brokeback was different cause ennis hadn't seen jack in years...

but theres plenty of movies with straight couples in which one of them dies in the end... its just life, and life doesn't always work out, movies like this are just showing us that. love while we have the chance and blah blah blah :p

That's fucking sad, a little too squeaky a sad voice, but that was okay. Did he have AIDs (not being stereotypic but it was an outbreak in the time)? They were both cute, I liked the blond guy, he was a really good person throughout the whole movie. The black-haired guy on the otherhand was a bastard, some times, until he finally broke out of the "closet."

Shelter is the only one. And Latter Days. But this is like 2 movies out of 40 gay movies. they really all end unhappy mostly with one of them dying. I hate that. There should be more happy gay movies, please!

"Just a Question of Love", "Maurice", "All Over The Guy", "Beautiful Thing", "Get Real"...

Hi pepercat 17.I truly understand your feelings about such movies as this. It can be depressing but cheer up as there also are movies that really can give you a very positive lift about gay life. 2 of my all time favs are "Latter Days" and a french movie w/ english subtitles (if that does not bug you) titled "Juste une question d'Amour (Just a question of love). Latter days will make you laugh and cry and "Juste une question.." is intelligently done. You can see trailers of both here at Youtube.

I don't think it's explicitly mentioned, but taking into account its the 80's and the mysteriousness of the illness, I'd guess AIDS. So many people died back then quite suddenly with very little understanding of what was happening.
