  • Awesome !

  • I've heard some people talking shit about this song saying it's "simple"... There's 8 distinct instruments I hear in this song... 3 guitars, drums, tambourine, two rattles and a hermonica. And gallons of reverb. ALL HAIL THE GROUPIES!

  • shittty voices

  • just cool..........

  • I wondered where Viagra got that catchy little tune for their Commercial!

More Recycled Rock, but still good!

  • i'v heard this first time on KFJC 89,7FM (Foothill College) and since that time I am a Groupies fan. Heeeyyyyaaa!

  • Love that Howlin' Wolf thing they got going here!

  • SMOKESTACK LIGHTNING!

  • didn't know the cramps covered this. always thought it was one of theirs.

  • dat is nog eens physidelisch<3

  • weird

  • cool!

  • what a howlin' wolf influence.

  • Classic. So messed up good!! Cramps cover this and Irony Butterfly cover it in their live shows, supposed to release a 45 version Fall of '11.

  • nice~

  • yaya smokestack lightning rip. anyway, this songs soooooo nice.

  • this is a straight smoke stack lightning rip, but the bass drum is CRAZY!

  • Paula's Pandoras are listed in the similar to this sidebar. She would've loved that because she sang this song with her all-girl band...I think it was at a Los Angeles dive called Al's Bar. Unfortunately Paula didn't live to see the debut of Youtube. Now much of her music is on Youtube too.

  • vietcong someone???

  • @dachefffkoch

As far as we know,it came straight from Vietcong :)

  • thx for this... revenge of the reverb !!! perfect post !

  • Primitive - The Groupies [New York, New York] - 1966 - "VERY GOOD raw Garage-Rock vocals, hooks." - Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era (Disc 3)-1998.

  • ... and still great!

  • definetly a rip off of spoonful by howlin wolf... still totally different though

  • @70moparbaby And here I was thinking it ripped off smokestack lightning

  • @ecthoranis ahhh haha youre right!! way to go groupies

  • True sounds of the 60's!

  • I search a track by the The Groupies, cant remember the name used in Dj Shadow's Painkiller (Kill The Pain Mix) which lyrics contains : "..my radioman is my number one high" . Thanks

  • Birth of punk rock. Bar none.

  • Although I prefer this original to the cramps version, had it not been for lux and ivy, many of us would never have heard of these weirdo 60s no-hit wonders.

So you gotta give 'em credit of opening up this particular can of worms.

  • Deffanitely their best song (in my Opinion)

  • Ive only heard the cramps version of this before but I love to hear the originals.

  • @bigczech7 I'll give this groupe credit for originating the song,.. but must say that I find that The Cramps did a much better version of it. Their version has much more texture and atmosphere musicaly and the vocal performance is much more dramatic too.

  • @Skulldini Well I can’t deny that. I totally love the cramps, that’s why all these originals that they paid tribute to, keep showing up on my recommended section. I saw the Cramps in Detroit, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

  • @bigczech7 Absolutely! Thing was, when they'd cover a song they didn't just duplicated it ( like most others do ),.. but they'd give it their own distinctive flavor,.. crampsify it, so to speak.

  • @Skulldini

Cramps made a dull song and just an inferior copy of this. Can't find nothing creative.

I also never liked Cramps. Monotonous and boring band. Late 70s-early 80s there were many fantastic and high energy bands with tremendous power.

    My opinion.

  • @dancing0being I found that they had a very cool and distinctive musical style and were often quite inventive, clever and funny too. Can't please 'em all though. Hell, nothing is enjoyed by everybody all of the time I guess.

  • @Skulldini

    Critics said the same.

My father said when i was small about the 80s- "My daughter, never mess with U2, Cure, Smiths Holy Triad". I just expanded and improved his list.

  • @dancing0being Well, you got one thing right..."Your opinion".

  • @hollies65

My cruel, crude father. He had a frail little being in his hands and just crushed it.

  • Norman hello if its you tell me

  • Super great!!

  • good song

  • Hi i search a track by the The Groupies, cant remember the name used in Dj Shadow's Painkiller (Kill The Pain Mix) which lyrics contains : "..my radioman is my number one high" .THANKS.

  • memorable song in the Vietcong level with the guy shooting with M60 from Huey flying around a bridge

  • Hahahahah! Couldn't agree more Janis!!!

  • ^^^^

  • hey I've been looking everywhere for this song's tabs and I can't find them, if someone could please post them! thanks ^^

  • primitive tab. look at smokestack lightnin by howling wolf. i cant help but think this riff was borrowed. the timing is a bit different. also the cramps covered this and theres tabs for it. just so you know, this song fuckin ripppppppssss it.

  • every band has it's influences, I'll search for those tabs, thanks for the info!

  • @jkuebler89

Yeah, this and the Cramps version are fucking great.

  • That's because, they did take it from Smokestack Lightning lol.

And yeah, whichever way you look at it, Howlin' Wolf, the Groupies, the Cramps... this riff can do no wrong. This song can do no wrong! My personal favourite version is the Cramps, just because Lux sounds insane on it.

  • @MmeLEnfer

I like most of all the "Skeletons-Primitive" song (different song, same title). It's fantastic for me but hard to find.

    Cramps?? No, not my taste.

  • @dancing0being

    I don't own any Groupies, sorry I can't help.

The Cramps are brilliant - one of the greatest rock'n'roll bands.

  • @MmeLEnfer

No, the 80s band Skeletons have a song named Primitive. Only title the same. My father had recorded it in a cassette tape from a radio station.

Cramps is a good band but i find them not very attractive. I don't like many 80s bands too. I just said my preference. If you like them...

  • @dancing0being That's cool. They're actually a 70s band though, formed between 72 and 75.

    ^That sounds cool

  • @dancing0being Well The Cramps dont belong to any decade, 80's or otherwise. They span thirty years,.. they're post-punk though ( formed in 1976 ).

  • The guy to the far left was my boss. He is a cool interesting guy with many interesting stories. No shit.

  • Never thought there were any recordings of Pete Hendleman and the Groupies! Wow!

  • This song remember me the war in vietnam!

    Rules! (no war)

  • Doctor Feelgood does im a hog for you baby- on a live import. check out The Cramps!

  • yes.

  • one of the best garage rock song ever

  • OH YEAH!!!!

  • does anyone have "I'm a Hog For You", the B-side?

  • YOu can hear it on their myspace page. go to myspace and add /theoriginalgroupies after the dot com . It looks like you can download it, but I couldn't get it to work. Check my channel for two more Groupies videos (Little Baby and Meet Me in the Bottom)

  • Nuggets- Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era Vol.3

Great album, it includes that song.

  • i know u don't believe me but thats my brother

  • me too i searched for vietcong but i cant find that song where did you?

  • xD You're smart to put Vietcong in the tags. That's how I came to know this song... it's so cool...

  • yep... those are some of the best songs ever made... the vietcong war era... how deep it was :)

  • @DesertFox101 Vietcong has awesome soundtrack, but the songs are quite obscure and hard to find.
