There's a small and excellent online depression support group called Depression Hangout that is always open to anyone who is struggling with mental health problems (not just depression). It's run in its own chaotic way by its members who meet regularly in the chat room and it's a great place to seek and provide help and support, make new friends and even just have a laugh. (We all need that too!) To join just go to depressionhangout-dot-blogspot-dot-com.
Can you ask him please how he has not gained weight on Lithium? This is very unusual. What dosage does he takes and does he take any additional medication. If you can find this out I should be very grateful. Thank you. This video is encouraging.
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been a fan of Maurice for 15 yrs. His honesty about his condition has helped me and my family in so many ways. I recently got to speak to Maurice on the telephone and tell him how much his strength and honesty about his illness had helped me and I'm so greatful for that opportunity.
I spent 4 hours in the ER yesterday and was finally diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I'm the first in my family to have it, and I have NO support from them at all...but hearing Maurice talk about what it's like- I mean, I just sat here nodding my head...like YES that's IT! I'm so glad to see a successful in, as was said, every way of life person who suffers with this horrible disorder.
having bi pol d aint no fun!i have it and my dad has it and he doesnt take meds for it!he repeats conversations that he has had with people!(talks to himself)i live with my wife and she can tell u without meds im a very mean and nice person depending on the mood swings
my mom has bipolar to and dosen't like to take her medication she likes to control it on her own but the reality is that she can't she is very understanding at times but her mood swings i just hard to explain but i know what ur going through hope it gets better for ur family!
It really helps a lot to see someone with bipolar who is so successful in all areas of his life - emotionally, spiritually, career-wise. Thank you for posting this.
Thank you for posting this. As a fan, it makes me proud that he is willing to share his private struggles and pain so that others may recognize warning signs and possibly get the help they so desparately need.
As a fan of Maurice for many years. I makes me so proud that he always is so up front with his feelings. He has helped so many people when he tells his story. Yet again, great job Maurice.
As a fan of Maurice for many years. This man goes out of his way to educate people on this disease. He puts his life right out there for everyone to see. As a fan this maks me so proud.
Wonderful interview. This is what makes me proud to be a Maurice fan...when he puts himself out there and talks about his experiences being bipolar to help other's who are either bipolar themeselves or have a friend or loved one who is.

Dear J and J, I want to express my appreciation to your willingness to bring this out into the open. Please take my video OBESITY THUNDER BAY and share it as well. The fact is MENTAL HEALTH is very confusing for many. I had no real concept until it was my turn to suffer some type of a breakdown. I continue to work to get my full life back ,and it has been a nasty trip to say the least. However,I am a better man for seeking the help. Please share my video as well.
Too bad a small part of his answer was cut off. I commend Maurice for everything he's gone through to get where he is today. Maurice U R so loved and I for one want nothing but happiness for you. Would miss you if you leave GH, and your dimples, though. You have a beautiful family. Sincerely, Alicia in Kansas!
Hey they deleted the segment where he explains how he decided to get help. Funny.

@ionabreeze I'm not sure what medication he might be on, so I would suggest that you get that information from a doctor or medical professional

It's good that he's speaking out about his pain. I have a friend and an uncle who both have bipolar disorder.

I know this topic all to well... Oddly enough I present as a medical mystery with my form of Bipolar.
I shall present this as an awareness, and then present my version of BPD. People need to be aware their is more than just the stereotypical one type.
