  • Update. Ricoh is doing very well. We are schooling 2nd Level. Dressage clinician and judge says, " He is going to be a Dressage machine". Lucky me.

  • Fabulous Angelika. One day most people will use +R and explicit behavior marking. Behavioral science gave this gift to us, might as well use it. And what a fabulous new language we have to communicate with that is kind, gentle, and opens a kind of friendship we only dreampt of until now. I have seen this action done before and with clicker training. I may teach my little Andy mare this one.

  • Awesome wanna do that with my horsie.

  • I first got him to pick up his leg. He started to paw, but I only rewarded him when he held it still. Then I started to push on his hoof with my hand. Anytime he would resist pressure I rewarded him. I have done a lot of other work with positive reinforcement so he understands the concept and it makes it easy to train him to do about anything. I keep it positive and fun for him so he really likes it.

  • He is georgous! And what a cool thing to think up and train! Love how calm and attentive he is. Well done!

  • What a beautiful, well trained horse! Great work, it must have taken a lot of effort to teach that :)

Was there any specific way to train him to resist pressure??

I'd love to train my horse to do this, when I have some time on my hands, it looks like a very useful trick!

  • How did you teach him that?

  • This is fabulous!

  • Please tell me how you started to teach him how to do this!

  • this horse is three? What lovely training for him!! he's darling! I am really amazed and impressed by him and trainer.

  • What a beautiful and smart horse! I love how he tries to help you down, too!

  • What a nice video! - thank you for sharing!

  • So creative you are! Lovely!

  • Wow :-) And he's absolutely beautiful, what a lovely face :-)

  • How very cool!! (He would still need to be about 14 hands for me, or else learn to hold a step ladder...LOL!). Fine looking horse!!!

  • This is MidKnight Attraction. Colorado..I sent the mare to you! An arabian Sheeka. He is so lovely. The lady I work dressage with says he is the best i have owned. She wants one just like him! He is training level now. But will do Piaffe on the ground and other neat tricks. He is a blast! I HIGHLY recommend Knight Invader for your crosses! Thanks Tammy!

  • What a cute trick. I own Knight Invader and I 'm not sure which horse this is. Can you tell me your name and the dams name? Nice looking horse too!!!! Thanks.

  • Love it!

  • This is really cool, great training idea! I could never vault on bareback, never thought to teach this lol :o)

  • I love it! My horses need to learn this. HA!

  • That was awesome, good work.

  • This is fantastic!

    Great job!

  • So far how long did that take, is the most common question. It took a while. Just started in stages of leg up, hold, hold highter and resist pressure. After he figured out what I wanted it was amazing because he was actually helping me up.
