There are open areas and load screens to more areas. It is pretty much open world though.

I have a ps3, the visuals in the videos of the game I have seen look awesome. If I keep hearing positive things about this game like I have I might pick it up just because it is different than alot of other games I have seen,

my only advice is if u have alot of cash cuz theres a lot of ps3 exclusives that are releasing and im playing fallout 3 goty ed uncharted 2 and bioshock thats why im not getting it
