  • This is an adaptation of the sega song Embas labas by Maxime le Forestier who visited mauritius in those years. This adaptation is well known all over european french countries and is still frequently played on radio - This reminds me of Home embas-làbas sweet little usland of mine...

  • This song is from Mauritius! Original version is in Sega typical music from There...later translated partly by Maxime...

  • @rveerasa This song ain't from Mauritius, although it was popular there at the time of it's release. Sounds Moroccan to me.

  • @brilliantos Actually it is from Mauritius, the language is Mauritian Creole; which I understand and speak. Yes it was originally from claudio. The great travelling musician Maxim was inspired by claudio's work and honoured him accordingly.

  • which country this song come from?? its not mauritius but we got same like this..

  • Martinique. This where the singer comes from.

  • actually from mauritius

  • Anyway -> Music & Lyrics

    -> Claude Veerraragoo @ 1988

(can't find where he is from?)

  • @hylozoik Claudio Veeraragoo is the author & compositor of this brilliant piece of Séga. Along with Jean-Claude Gaspard amongst others, Claudio Veeraragoo is a legendary artist in Mauritius, known for numerous brilliant and timeless songs (Bhai Aboo par exemple).

Search "Claudio - Ambalaba" on youtube to come across the original piece. Credits to "rn019" too for sharing such a rich collection of Mauritian Séga.

Mo espérer mo pan rate narien aster... :)

  • @hylozoik

the song originates from Mauritius. The version of Claudio Veeraragoo (not Claude Veeraragoo) is the original one. Maxime Le Forrestier did a cover here.

  • @hylozoik he IS from mauritius, original version is mauritian

  • @hylozoik this song is a "sega" of veerraragoo, traditional style from "île Saint-Maurice" (a french territory)

Maxime le forestier was changed the lyrics from the original , its talking about a man who love a girl but she cheat him , wheras he keep her love

ps : Sorry for my bad English ...

  • @Arratoiia

    aaah - very "eye-opening" =) thx !!!

Mauritius isn't a French territory, it's an independent country.

  • @khrysenthem Autant pour moi , merci du ratrapage

  • @Arratoiia It's MAURITIUS and in French, it's ÎLE MAURICE. This island was first named Mauritius by the Dutch in honor of their statehouder, prince Mauritz of Nassau and during the french colonization, it was named Isle de France and thereafter during the british colony, it was renamed Mauritius.

  • Moi ti n'a mon ti femme dans mon la case Moi ti n'a princesse, tu vas guetter Dans ma tête, j'entends le grand ciné Avec son gros anneau dans son zoreille Tout c'que ti besoin, moi donne toi Ti robe à fleurs, moi donne toi Chapeau la paille, tu peux gagner Tu fais toucatacata dans mon la case Ambalaba, ambalaba, ambalaba Tu mouses mon salade, ambalaba Ambalaba, ambalaba, ambalaba Tu mouses mon salade, ambalaba
  • @val91201

I have my little wife in my house. You will see she was my princess.I heard gossips. She has large earrings.Everything she was she gets it.Flower dress, straw hat.She went and cheated in my house.Overthere she was having something on the side.A side dish like a salad. She was having a side dish like a salad overthere.

This is translation creole to English.Ambslsbs means overthere in Engllish and toucatacata means cheating in English

  • It comes from La Reunion. The language is Reunionais creole

  • @kevincheekhoory Maxime Le Forestier is a french man but in this song, he uses french island vocabulary : it is "creole" or creol in english ( but i'm french and i don't know if the word " creol" does exist !)

  • @kevincheekhoory claude veerraragoo is mauritian, the original song is mauritian. a mauritian sega which travelled the world, translated in spanish and even malay. but for us mauritians, the original song is best, because it just reflects part of our mauritian identity through sega

  • claude veerraragoo is mauritian, the original song is a mauritian sega which travelled the world, translated in even spanish and malay.

  • @kevincheekhoory

This is creole from Mauritius, you're right

  • @kevincheekhoory france ;) and african style

  • @kevincheekhoory france..

  • Et Ta ééé Pa kréol Sa....

    Sansson Claudio Li Mari Mié

  • Really nice chillout!!! It is not entirely french. Most of it is. But there is a more upbeat version wher it really comes from. It is a mixture of dialect from Reunion island / Mauritius. Try google for it. I come from there....

  • Thx for this Clue ! =)

  • magnifique, ca fait vachement balancer !

  • Quelle belle chanson !

  • Thanks for the post!

I don't know why I've known this song for 20 years without knowing any French.

Somebody, kindly trnaslate the lyrics. Thanks.

PS: Is that Bobby McFerrin playing bass? :-)))))

  • To give away a Secret : I understand only german - and some "crumbs" of french,? englisch

    - nothing of creol? or any dialects ;) - the rest is just "impressive construction".

PS: I think B. McF. has his own bass, in his voice ^^

Re: Bobby McFerrin, I only meant that I thought the bass player in the video looks like him.

    Cheers.

  • hmm ... to go out on a limb:

Life (Love) is like a mixed Salad - the right ingredients & preparation

is a daily new process. ;O)

    PS: suits!

  • @1bolt2many

I have my wife in my house a princess you will see,wih her large earrings.Everything you want I give to you, a straw hat, a flower dress, but overthere you are having something on the side.I have my boat marie therese, my hook and bait and went to the reefs to fish.I gave you everything but overthere you were having something on the side,a side dish like a salad.

  • hmmmmmmmmm

  • Sehr schoen !!! Danke.

  • Enbas la bas is a sega of Claudio. Before Jeanclaude get the crown of Mauritius sega king!!En bas la bas was great sega and still going on. Tous que tu besoin mo donne toi.chapeau lapaille tu peux gagner...-hahahhah Great!!Just love to here it by Maxime Le fôrestier,so much love and charme and goodfeeling...so exoctikt Thank u Maxime.

  • Tu ressemble tellement a mon comedien cheri Robert Gustavsson ohhhh trop beau..

  • I'm not sure what you mean by 'avant le lancement de JCG'. Didn't Maxime Leforestier 'copied' this from Jean Claude?

    Perhaps I'm mistaken?

Anyway, I like both versions. Great. Hylozoik - thanks for this.

  • ur rite my dear this song have been copied by maxim after the mauritian original sega ... however its not so bad

  • sega mauricien! ocean indien!

  • my favourite song loving it xxx
