Hello a quick question about your Dynavox, as most of what anyone says in English is a constant repetition of around 3,000 to 5,000 core words, would it be possible to have the speaker who generates the voice profile for each user, to read out individual words and have them as audio files that would playback automatically rather than having the program trying to "read" the words? It would help with pronunciation but the computers may not be fast enough in this sense.
Great video. I don't like using dedicated devices either, my family can mostly understand me but as adult who has to go to most medical appointments myself, the staff often can't as tend to get different person each time,
I got iPad with Proloquo2go its much quicker with the new word prediction. I use a T-bar stylus for smaller menu's but I Iike how can zoom it up to make links bigger on webpages.
Would a stylus help when you selecting directly off screen?
just an idea, but since typical keyboards use usb ports, would you be able to plus your regular keyboard into your dynavox when you want to type large amounts of text?
I have a question, but it's a bit hard to phrase. Does the Dynavox speaking your words feel to you like 'your voice'? I mean, when I say something it feels like my voice, but when I record myself saying something and play it back, it feels like someone else's voice saying what I said. Do you know what I mean?
@Abnormaldiversity if you're asking if my actual voice is on the DynaVox, the answer is no. if you're asking if I consider the voice I use on my DynaVox to be my actual voice, the answer is no. the DynaVox comes with pre-programed voices. I chose the one I liked best. fortunately, i can speak. I only use my DynaVox when I have a lot to say to people who would have difficulty understanding the way i speak. If I completely misunderstood your question, i apologize.
Nice shirt Nicole!! i forgot you were a met fan... I totally loved this video. i didn't even know dynavox had usb ports... must make it more compatible with other devices. the prices of them are insane... i wish all technology was more accessible to begin with, it would make it fair for everyone. it makes me sad that technology like the dynavox costs so much, because i'm sure there are people who would benefit from it who dont have one because it's so expensive.
You do great with the touch screen. Has that gotten easier since you got your pump? Can you change the size of things so that someone with less hand control could have bigger buttons or pull-down menus? Is there a way to install it on your main PC so that you can do all your editing and testing on your main PC, then when you copy it to the dynavox it'll be good to go.
@jharr299 I'd say it's about the same. yes, you can adjust the size of the buttons. I'm not sure but if the dynavox software is available to buy separately, it would cost a fortune. I know there's an ipad app similar to the dynavox software and that's $189. prices are absolutely insane.
Interesting. Even though I am rather geeky, I have no knowledge of Dynavox and other similar systems, so my questions might be a bit naive.
You said that it is simpler to edit the text on your computer than on your Dynavox. Is it possible to either install the Dynavox program on your computer or to use some other software to speak directly from your computer? This would not work on the road, but would work at school or at home when you have access to your real computer.

Some of us in the Autism Community also use Augmented Communication Devices. My roommate, "Drew" who as an Autistic is "non-verbal", & uses something similar to communicate with his parents, teachers, ect.
Awesome job nicole! Will we be hearing your actual voice soon?! I know people cant understand you all the time but in some videos we like hearing you! The voiceover on the dynabox was obviously great for this video! Keep up the good work.
Ps wear your i-3 artie shirt in an upcoming video!
Hi Chica! I know alot about AACs and the Dynavox. I knew how most people who use switches use them but not someone who can use their hands. Or that you can type in what you want using Word. Or that it is like a computer. Great job explaining. Now someday if I need one, I'll have some info already. Btw, I have muscular dystrophy. Nice to see your videos.
Respond to this video... Nice work Nicole, I especially liked how you explained things. I'm sure everyone understood, of course I understood because I have a very simular device, my device is called tobii c12

@AphroBeauty thanks! you're not the only one who asked me that. If I do a video where I don't have too much to say, I'll probably speak it.
if I remember, I'll be sure to wear it :-)
