Although I have always lived in central Pennsylvania, alas, I have no relatives here that would remember the flood, they all live in Iowa, my parents moved here from Iowa in 1992, three years before I was born. I knew about the floods (1888, 1936, 1977) through history lessons. Before now, I hadn't seen actual footage of the great flood of 1936. This newsreel is one of the saddest things I have seen. I found myself crying nonstop whilst I was watching and still am crying a little as I write this

From :36-:38,did you see where it was at in the Armstrong tunnels!!!This meant that Carson street was completely under water.I couldnt believe when I seen this.My grandmother has the original copy of the Pittsburgh Press that has these photos.I always look at this when I go to see her.

My Dad was 11 at this time, my Mom was 7, they talked about this flood all my life.

Amazing. I live near that area. I know Altoona got flooded bad too, but Johnstown and Pittsburgh got it way worse.
