  • This song always brings chills

  • If I could come up with one melody as good as in this song, ill die happy.

  • Although I am an atheist and will stand by my beliefs to the end of time, I must concede that religious people sure do know how to make amazing songs.

  • i don't know why, but i'm a sucker for old hymnal songs, i just love the meaning of the lyrics(i am a t christian) and just how they sing & and the piano style. it surprises me that their are people who actually dislike this video, it's a wonderful song, each vocal part is sung wonderfully!

  • Check out my piano cover of the carol God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, which includes the Mr. Bean Jazz version! You'll love it! :)

  • every religion have one common thing- MUSIC.

No wonder why GOD and his creations are linked by the bliss of music

  • @cadogenwest Islam doesn't have music.

  • @me23614011990554 Nor does Buddhism.

  • @me23614011990554 yeas it does and I'm a muslin by the way

  • @cadogenwest Let me elucidate. Conventional Sunni Islam (which makes up the majority of Muslims) doesn't have music.

  • very nice, thank you for sharing this

  • "Oh tidings of vomit and bile, vomit and bile. Oh tidings of vomit and bile."

Sorry, just describing my general quesiness this fair morn.

  • Shivers down my spine.Beautiful.

  • let's debate religion guys! What else are we gonna do in the comments, say we liked the music?NAAAAAAH

  • Does anyone else think that they chorister at 1:50 is Andy Roddick? Seriously..it looks just like him. Love this btw. Wish I was so talented. Merry Christmas all!

  • 2:22 just blows me away every time, love this song

  • Beautiful. The true message of Christmas.

  • Absolutely stunning. I'm feeling the warm, cozy buzz of Christmas already

  • I'm an atheist, but this is absolutely beautiful :)

  • @tehmonkey100 I agree. Europeans have almost perfected religion: All of the culture, none of the extremism. Warms my heart, it does. Makes me sad to live in America.

  • @ih8makinusernames Well we have right of worship clause in the Constitution..

  • @ih8makinusernames American's don't have many options. We either have culture less commercialized atheist bullcrap or strict religion. I myself am not too religious but America needs religious morals, values, and culture!!

  • @TheAmericanDefender America needs humane morals and values. A lot of religious morals make no sense. Their culture should be less commercialized, but not necessarily religious. And of course you have the choice.

  • Me too, but I really love this song! Check out Annie Lennox's version and other versions of this on this site too! :)

  • @tehmonkey100 Man is inspired. Not original

  • Beautiful

  • @golferknip11 Sorry my mistake Its because this is Britain, a country thousands of years old. The Churches are easily more than a 1000 years old. This is Cambridge Cathedral I THINK, built around the year 900AD.

  • @adanali85 - may god bless and keep you.

  • thx for posting this at least this one is the right one

  • I love the heavy organ music at the beginning.

And yes, I know it's July and Christmas is another 5 months off, but it's still great music, whatever the season.

    God bless you all.

  • Which companies are the church organ?

  • adanali85 - just had a quick visit to your site, and I guess you're Turkish, any chance you could post some nice Turkish music vids for us to watch?, I love the sound of the oud!

  • adanal85-salaam alieikum, a very nice comment from you, peace to all our Muslim, Buddist, Hindu, Jewish, Pagan and Atheist friends out there.

  • Stunning!

  • Thank God for the gift of music. What a beautiful thing it is!

  • Wonderful...God Bless them all.

  • Salaam brother. Kul 3am winta bkhayr

  • Druid (and former Anglican) enjoying the music of my forbears.

  • @teddy1066 : Then off to hell ye shall go Merry Gentleman or nay !

  • I am a Wiccan turned Reformed Unitarian/polygamous Mormon with a smattering of Zoroastrianism (but no mayo on that, please) and I find this to be a perfectly lovely version of a Christmas classic.

  • I think this video is poised to go 6 figures on Christmas Day!

  • @gondolacrescent5 I think you are right!

  • @gondolacrescent5 Yep. It did on Christmas Eve!

  • I would be disappointed if the hymn were concluded with a round of applause. That would mean it was a performance and not a sacred act of corporate divine worship.

The combination of architecture, art and music-is this not proof of the existence of God? The inspiration was not created in a godless void. I don't mean to be rude or intolerant: This is something that Christians created, embrace and offer to others who want to join with Christ.

The door is always open to any who knock.

  • I love being an Anglo-Catholic! But above all, I love being a child of GOD!

  • To all muslims remember we are sons of Abraham. lets live in peace.

  • This is my favorite hymn and they sing it amazingly

  • It seems odd not to hear an applause directly after a performance like that

  • This song is truely magical, although some people try and do "modern" cover of it, the traditional choir style is always my favorite.

  • Regardless of faith or lack of this a beautiful expression of spirit and art. A star in our human heritage.

  • @incufish23 Indeed...worth preserving

  • In the screenshot from the another video, it looked like a picture of or the Coldstream Guards, LOL! :)

PS: I am a mild Atheist/Atheist wing Agnostic

  • Wow, this is amazing!

  • I remember attending services at KCC a number of years ago, and I was at Carols at King's being recorded by the BBC in 2004.

And yes, this is my favourite carol/hymn.

  • Although I am Catholic and love my faith dearly, I must concede that you Anglicans sure know how to sing.

  • @bmccoy78

The Anglicans did not changed the slightest bit of the catholic singing-tradition!

  • You can just feel the british in the music

  • i 've got the book by david willcocks,i could try it on the piano!!

  • 2 people have no Christmas spirit.

  • Amazing, we make the most beautiful creations (art, music, architecture), and commit the worst atrocities in the name of the same faith. christian, Jew, Muslim. makes no difference.

  • Even though I turned Atheist last year, I still love these Christmas songs.

  • Oooh, this and Charles Dickens....Merry Christmas.

  • My favourite Christmas carol, done the best I have ever heard it done. Bravo.

  • wow I got mega goose bumps from this... thanks

  • Its amazing. As a Jew ive grown up learning the exact opposite of every thing this song proclaims about but it so moving :') Merry Christmas Youtube

  • How nice that the above comment from adanali85 is from a Muslim, pitty that the same spirit of mutual respect and appreciation cannot be reflected in the wider world. Christian, Muslim, Jew or Hindu - we are all human.

  • this is the exact same as " Oh little town of Bethlehem? just different words?

  • @BerryCherry0407 No, it's not. The tune is different.

  • beatiful vocie

  • to all who think this is a Roman-Catholic service:

It isn't!! It is an Anglican service within the Church of England as a matter of fact :))) We are Catholic, but not Roman-Catholic. Wikipedia might help you with its explanantions.

  • The sheer power of music!

  • i get shivers whenever i hear this carol..it makes me feel all christmassy.

  • Needs more cowbell.

  • Beautiful...Stirring.

  • dis is a gud song to relax

  • yeah , when people gather to make songs and hymns to God and especially to the evolution and growth of humankind, to evovle the best things in our souls, thats when we are truely strong and find peace among ourselves and eachother.

  • this is a great arrangement and performance. I particularly like the high choral counter melody about 3 quarters of the way through.. truly excellent climbing effect that takes the composition to a new level.

  • Lately I've been having problems with religion, I'm not sure what I believe in and whether I can still call myself a Christian or not... But this amazing song somehow makes it easier to believe in God. Such a powerful piece. I've loved this carol since the very first time I heard it many years ago.

  • im personally not christian/catholic, and this is amazing. Your religion is amazing in how it has developed a story around your Jesus that is so truthful and powerful that things such as this may come out of it. great video

  • @Jfritzful you're not a christian but hold the story of jesus to be truthful. intriguing!

  • @ukanian no, i dont find his story to be truthful, i find the people who believe his story is truthful very believable.

  • how beautiful! happy yuletide!

  • When it comes to singing this song, no one hits it more powerfully than the Catholics it seems

  • very good! i like it! God is exalted!

  • even though i am an atheist, some church hyms and gospel songs are so beautiful, mabe it is just because i love almost all music generas except trance. :)

  • @carrosten Agreed, I think religion is ridiculous but I love these songs.

  • oh my gosh!! the guy at 1:50 looks like my choir teacher!!

  • Though I am an atheist, this song is so powerful to me. Thank you for sharing!

  • My pleasure!

  • @herifuzhenguan2 One day, you might ask yourself why it does what it does to you. If you really thiunk about it, long and hard, your atheism will disappear like smoke on the wind.

  • @withnail555 Haha. You are right. I made this comments long time ago. I'm not atheists any more. I got baptized this October.

  • @herifuzhenguan3 Haha! Excellent. You'll have a much happier life for it too. Well done you and an early Happy Christmas!

  • @herifuzhenguan2 Though i am a Christian, i pray for you.

  • @herifuzhenguan2 oh gosh i so agree!

  • wow i am a muslim and this is very powerful hymn, very uplifting stuff peace to our christian brothers

  • And the very same to you!

  • Yo tengo la partitura original de este arreglo

I have the original score of this arrangement

  • Brilliantly sung !

  • absolutely beautiful, give us more please!

    Stuart

  • Merry Christmas! It's wonderful to hear the traditional carols done in such a time-honored manner.

  • 1. God rest ye merry, gentlemen, Let nothing you dismay, For Jesus Christ our Saviour Was born upon this day, To save us all from Satan's power When we were gone astray: O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy, O tidings of comfort and joy. 2. From God our heavenly Father A blessèd angel came, And unto certain shepherds Brought tidings of the same, How that in Bethlehem was born The Son of God by name: O tidings of comfort and joy
  • 3. The shepherds at those tidings Rejoicèd much in mind, And left their flocks a-feeding In tempest, storm and wind, And went to Bethlehem straightway, This blessèd Babe to find: O tidings of comfort and joy. 4. But when to Bethlehem they came, Whereat this Infant lay, They found Him in a manger, Where oxen feed on hay; His mother Mary kneeling, Unto the Lord did pray: O tidings of comfort and joy.
  • very beautiful carol. Merry Christmas everybody from Madrid (Spain). Feliz Navidad a todos, amigos, este villancico es precioso y está interpretado de maravilla.

  • i must say i also thought that this rendition was corkingly splendid also. the other replicantes leave much to be desired old chap it really is appalling. anyway im off to shoot some feasent and smoke a pipe if you don't mind.good day

  • i must say that i very much enjoy this rendition. i find it much better than many of the modern replicantes

  • My favourite carol - always has been, even when I was very small, and it still is now. :-)

  • One of the best that i heared.....

    Thank you...

  • peaceful

  • Beautiful, well done KCC. This is what angels are made of......

    WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Omg, this is hauntingly beautiful...

  • cistercianus, that's asking a wee bit much. The church stopped making permanent sopranos about 500 years ago anyways, and the young men are college students, not priests.

  • I hope not! Some of them are very cute...

  • I kinda just hope they keep singing. It is a wonderful way to praise the Lord though

  • thanks!!!!!!
