I've been wanting to get into wind/hydro but am having a hard time finding enough to allow me to move to the west coast. Any ideas/names/companies? Thanks for the upload... most people have no clue what we do out there every day.
Next time try a CO2 tank and feed 300 psi to the impact gun. It wont blow up. I've done it many times with my impact and it gives it a tremendous boost in torque.
@ucw458 intersting idea would need a high preasure regulator and airhose and someone to distract the safety man ... a hightourk is the prefired tool but we didnt have one ... a portapower pump/ram pushing on a short slugging wrench will work ... no room to swing a hammer in a intermediat headcover ...
Yea... I've been a Millwright since "81" worked on over 30 hydros mostly on the Columbia river dams, from repairs and rewinds to complet turbine/ generator replacements and new instalations, good work, mostly indoors and as long as u don't mind getting dirty ... I'm union so the pay is OK :)

what part of the dam is this where you are trying to take out the siezed bolt?

Dang. Loox like you're going to have to cut a few of the bolt heads off with a torch.

We couldn't get a bigger impact on them, didn't have a high-tourk so used a porta power on a slugging wrench to break them loose :)
