True, but he didn't subract a negative. He subracted 48. not - 48 or technically (-48) which is what your thinking about. the equation would be 2x^4 + 10x - 6x^4 - (-48x) + 18 for you to be correct.

Very nice video, however, there are tons of people out there who would wonder about the why adding the 1 to get rid of the parenthesis. So, i think its useless to mention such a thing when you can just remove the parenthesis without adding one.

Remember, some people may get confused by it. i have seen it happen in my math Class.

@mokatrechi my math teacher is the main reason I dropped out of high school. She didn't like me because I was the only white kid in her class. I got my GED and went to technical college. I just wish I hadn't let her get to me so much. She would start screaming at me if one of the other students cursed, or talked. They always blamed me. Not one person in that class would ever talk to me. I just stood up in class and flipped the bird and called her a crazy bitch. Never went back. =/.
