Dave McKenna was one very special pianist. What can one say when they are exposed to such "eargasims". I remember seeing him with Tony Bennett years ago and started buying his recordings after that. thanks for this wonderful contribution.
Musicians like Dave McKenna bring the listener a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That's why each minute spent with them is a treasure that cannot be taken from our lives. In fact,he was and still is one of the greatest artists in the history of music. The kindness of his magical sound, caressing warmth of his ballad playing, frenziest drive of his swinging beat - such things happen just once in a lifetime and blossom in our hearts till the very end. Thank You Dave. We'll be loving you - always.
My parents took me to see him several times. As special as all of his performances were, he always took things in stride (no pun intended). He preferred small clubs with the din of conversation and ballgames in the background, I've heard, to concert halls. A great player.
I was introduced to the music of Dave by a dear friend several years ago,,,what a gift he gave me!! These kind of pianists come along all to seldom..Five*

A great piano player who never lost respect for the composer's original melody and meaning of the composition.
Dave McKenna was an inspiration to me and I am grateful for his wonderful musical contributions.

He died. This information make me sad. I still remenber his HomePage said " He will not play piano any more" about a year ago.
