“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.” “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” - John 10:11, 14 and 27
Glad you posted this-i've loved hearing savannah play her fiddle since i first heard her play in kingsport-she is a joy listen to and so is audie & the rest of them in the band--don't get up there as much as i would like to anymore, so this is the next best thing
@rainharper62 Savannah started as freshman this year with a full scholarship at ETSU School of Fine and Performing Arts. I am sure we will eventually see more of her with their Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies band sections. Ron says the Fall Creek Band has been retired but they are maintaining their web-site for now.
@jlw37663 -Well, i think thats just wonderful!! Good for her!-I knew she was a smart young lady! She actually is the first young person that i've met that knew as much as i did about music-i've been playing for over 40 years and play by ear & by reading music--So it was like a breath of fresh air to hear her sing and play, I'm so glad she's going--She could really get farther w/her music than she has already-I think she would make a wonderful teacher too! Thank you for letting me know!!
I'm sorry for not giving the mandolin player the credit he is due in my prior post. That was an amazing piece of work you cranked out there sir. You and Savannah are very complimentary to one another in this piece. One of the most impressive I've seen so far.
@johnwon454 The mandolin player is Audie Ratliff and in addition to being a superb mandolin player he is a highly regarded luthier producing the Ratliff Mandolin at his shop in Church Hill, Tennessee. Sadly, he and Savannah no longer perform together. I have another clip of them performing Jerusalem Ridge in a later performance.
@jlw37663 I've listen to both of these a few times now and like this performance better. I feel Audie and Savannah complimented each other in a much more fluid way in this one. Savannahs notes are more distingiushed in this performance verses the later one you posted also. Please don't take offense in me saying this, I'm just being constucted critical in saying this, that's all. Thanks for sharing all that you have so far.
@johnwon454 No offense taken and agree with you on all points. Technically, I messed up on reformatting this one from the original 4x3 recording (actually Roxio messed up) with some occasional motion problems. Also, the Sony TRV-460 I used on this earlier recording introduces some distortion if the sound field is too strong- a problem that has never occurred with the Panasonic GS-320 used on the later recording
@jlw37663 Thanks for your efforts in sharing with us the best possible audio and video. I sure wish those two could have stayed together long enough to get a studio quality recording of this piece. Maybe Savannah can do the whole tune by herself and post it sometime.........
It's been a month now since I first heard this particular performance. I've listened to a lot of them up till now. All I can say is if that fiddle had a tach on it, you would have it "Red Lined" the whole time. Did I mention that I am amazed?!!!
@johnwon454 The second performance clip has been added to this channel today. It was made later in 2008 but at an indoor venue and using a better camera. The lighting was very dim so that accounts for the soft image and subdued colors.
WOW!! That was a GREAT Performance! I liked the fiddle player the best, she can flat out play, it is second nature to her. The mandolin player hits her pretty damn good too. I'd love to hear y'all in person. The sound quality leaves some to be desired..... Thanks for sharing and yes she is very pretty too.
