  • .....and this is why she's my favorite actress of all time. She's so breathtaking and explosive!

  • this is one of her deepest performances,it would be a good film if they restored it completely on a dvd

  • @KURISUCHRIS99 It's been on dvd for some time now. Check amazon.

  • this is by far my favorite movie she ever did, and save for a few silents, Ive seen them all

the transition, honesty, and brilliant film making is scorching and so totally authentic

for me its one of the top3 performances of her career

story matters much more than filmaking, and here they serve each other is a stirring and riveting dance

    Joan is the greatest

  • Do you have this movie? Could you please upload the whole thing? Thanks:)

  • I like the scene where Walter Huston gets horny for Sadie...awesome..!

  • even though this was a flop

it was one of joan's best performances

  • "Sadie Thompson is on her way to Hell!!!! LOL! I don't know why but this is my favorite scene in the whole movie.

  • yes i loved this part in the movie too and her dress was so sweet:-)

  • Everything about her was so beautiful. Those eyes, that voice, that face, that talent.

*sigh* Where are today's Joan Crawfords???

  • when the guy starts going into prayer it made me want to just hit him...no one likes a high horse..JC is great...you would never see such motion from todays stars

    D

  • The way these scene continues, as she is mesmerized into a conversion, is sick ... and foreshadows the ending when his mesmer comes back to bite him!

  • Joan's look was way grotesque in this - she almost reminds me of Jerri Blank for some reason - but this isn't a bad performance from her, even though everybody else pretty much sucks.

  • One of my all time favorite moments in any Crawford film...Joan's first truly great performance, even if she was too hard on herself in life to ever accept this after it flopped. Thank you for posting this beautiful, powerful moment in cinema history!

  • I first saw this clip while watching a bio of Joan Crawford. I have to say, what a powerful, beautiful woman. I love this. I HAVE to get the DVD of the film.

  • I just got it in a pack with "Of Human Bondage" With Bette Davis, an early Marilyn Monroe film called "home town story" And a Barbra stanwyck movie for 3.99 in a bin from Wal-Mart! Talk about a great deal!

  • Wow, Joan is one amazing actress, very captivating.

Can anyone tell me how you separate a film on your hard drive into clips to put in slideshows?

  • "Rain" is marvelous. It's classic and endures the test of time. Joan's Sadie Thompson was brilliant and film is a shining example of "Pre-Code Hollywood" at its best. Joan's performance equals that of Bette Davis in "Of Human Bondage." In many ways, it's better.

  • Because times were different back then.

  • Why did Joan apologize?

  • The movie wasn't very well received so she apologized to her fans for making it.

  • "Rain" is one of my favorites althoug Joan apologized for making this film I love it.

  • @omarory

    Ditto....

Although it wasnt politically correct at the time, "Rain" is one of those movies that was very powerful in its message about morals and hypocricy...Joan gave a great performance, I think it was one of her best.
