@superbarnsley no it didnt; i rmbr watchin this match live and after this catch, the opposing team [Pakistan of course] argued like hell that he touched the boundary! the 3rd umpire eventually declared that he didnt n the Pakis wanted to quit the match; soon after the prob was solved...i mean gimme a break tho! thats one helluva catch!!

This is really one of the Greatest Catches of all time, but with due respect to this catch of Justin Kemp, and all the great cathes held by Jonty, Gibbs, Ponting, Collingwood etc etc, in my opinion the best catch ever held was the one taken by Jacques Kallis (yes a South African again, no surprises here) to dismiss Shahid Afridi in the finals of the Coca Cola cup, 31/3/2000 at Sharjah. It was truely incredible, running backwards he twisted his entire body and caught that catch, just fantastic.

I hate to be the ignorant American to ask this question. But since I've never really seen any cricket before: You play without any sort of gloves? And what would've happened if the ball had crossed that line?

Only the wicket keeper (person standing behind the batsman/batter) can ware gloves. If the ball crosses boundary without touching the ground it is called a sixer (batsman will be awarded 6 runs) else if it crosses the line along the ground then 4 runs are awarded to the batsman.

I have not seen a better catch than this in my last 20 plus years of watching cricket. The Jadeja catch, Martin Crowe's catch, Jonty's catch , Yuvraj's catch all pale in front of this one. The ball is going full speed and high Kemp has to run, strech and jump at the same time, then angle his right hand in such a way that it actually twists from audience to the field.
