  • thanks for the review now I know to pass on that piece of junk

  • bad resolution!

  • How do you record the screen?????? :P

  • @MagVidProd Using a video capture card.

  • can you put on a fisheye

  • @4tha3 Don't but this camcorder, or any Vivitar camera for that matter. Save your money for something better!

  • Is it just mine or do these things guzzle batteries? Mine only takes about 25 minutes to drain brand new batteries!!

  • the A-HD+ is on sale at my local wallgreens for $22...I know becase my dad got me one for christmas...it's alright-ish...

  • i can only get 4 seconds of recording on my camera...why?? and when i put an sd card in its only 7 minuets..?

  • @TAPKC It makes very large files in "HD" mode. Try using VGA mode.

  • @vwestlife how do i do that?

  • @TAPKC Read the instructions!

  • is there a microphone input?

  • @JadeColemanx No.

  • @vwestlife after i turn the knob all the way to the right it says Audio Disc Full what do i do to hear the audio and record sound or remove pics?

  • @TheSoulTakerLordV I have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

  • @vwestlife do you have a tutorial on how the functions on using this camera work?

  • @vwestlife It's cool i figured out the problem, it turns out Vivitar has been having issues with their cameras "certain ones" like the one i have and the knob i mentioned turns out the mini screw in the twist knob that lets it turn is too loose, so when the twist knob is pressed in so hard to get the camera to function it leaves a finger imprint it works like normal long as you keep the knob pressed. or get the receipt take it back to the store swapit for a new one or call the company

  • dude can you pause this cam

  • @joncoolperez No. Don't even think about buying this camcorder!

  • Great revue, very helpful. Shame you had to use that gastly background music

  • mine won't turn on. every time i press the power button the screen just flashes.

    what do i do?!!

  • @41cookiesbabe Try putting in FRESH batteries. IF that doesn't work and IF it's brand NEW, Got the receipt? take it back to the store for a new one and make sure you tell vivitar. If you can't exchange it still call vivitar something should be able to be worked out they may send you a new one or refund your money to you.

  • Hey cool I just bought the same one but in black

  • They have a new vivitar camcorder that is actually good.

  • Wait... no, it can't be! canyon.mid we meet again!

  • Comment removed

  • I hate vivitar.

  • This camcorder Sucks

  • this really helped thanks!

  • Sure hope the DVR410 SKU that I just ordered on bestbuy.com (one of the cheaper ones, I know, but I had a $25 gift card after trading in Yakuza and didn't feel like spending ANOTHER $20 for a $50 camcorder, although I probably should've in hindsight.) isn't as shitty.

  • @whoo689 There is no true "HD" camcorder you can buy today for less than $100 or so. These cheapo Vivitars and DXGs are all just using low-res VGA quality image sensors and then upscaling the output to "HD" resolution, resulting in very blocky, pixellated video.

  • The viewfinder is only ONE WAY??? WTF? So how the fuck do you figure out if you're recording your shit right if you're FACING the camera instead of doing the shooting yourself?? You have to record it first and THEN watch the footage? Lame

  • at xs cargo it 30 bucks no joke

  • went on ebay an found this piece of crap for £5 about 8 dollars

  • does this camera auto focus?

  • @JuicyCutie4 No, it is fixed focus.

  • @vwestlife hey dude i was wondering if this camera has flash light

  • @LVbadman No.

  • haha its on at Xs cargo for 49 plus taxes

  • can somebody help me? I have a Vivitar DVR 504. .i cant find any videos

  • Watch my video 'crappy camera' to get a REAL review of it

  • I got this exact camera but I had TERRIBLE luck with it. It lags the audio crazY!

  • Take a look at my latest, Specs are similar. I think Vivatar has some history, in 35MM print film but they basically DROPPED THE BALL in terms of making some useful yet affordable digital era devices. I think it's most of what you want, but the minimum standards should be equal to others, Sony, Panasonic, JVC. Swivel LCD, STEREO PCM audio, A bit better HD spec since it's just passable digital really.

  • can you use a fisheye with it

  • @opeagles555 Why would you want to? The fisheye lens would probably be worth more than this camera is!

  • horrible quality!

  • The worst one is the 910HD wasted 89.00$ on that piece of junk. Worst part I can't return it.

  • Wah wah wah. Poor little tech babies. You've all been so spoiled by technology. Sheesh. What are you expecting for something under $100. You want the best quality then pay for it.

  • how did u record the menu system?

  • vivitar os runbish... lol JVC is ok and olimpus

  • Vivitar is pure crap at any price.

  • GREAT video !!! Helped me understand, and enjoyed review!!! thanks!!

  • This is same exact camcorder that i use.same color,same everything:D:D:D

  • is it compatible with windows movie maker?

  • @TripleBstudios2 I mention it in the video and description, but in case you didn't get that far... yes, it does. But ideally, the only thing this camera should work with is a garbage can, because that's where it belongs.

  • @vwestlife Your own review was more "kind" then that. The digital still camera I bought garnered online complaints as well, but most strinking is the design...it uses a Nokia battery for their cell phones, which is strange. I've used Walkman and digital stills that have no AC input, but it's because DC is normal operation current anyway

  • digging the music (: what is it called?

  • @AndyAndrew12367 Look up "virt canyon music" on Google and you'll find the web site with an MP3 download of it.

  • I just got the Vivitar DVR 910HD and I can't figure out how to turn off the sound.

  • damn what a shame, i hatee camera's that DONT use a LI ION battery, what a shame, that camera looks really nice too.

  • I have the Vivitar DVR 870 HD and the lcd does swivel. I do not like this camera because it does not upload in TRUE HD quality. I get the button but it is still very pixelated (ran through Sony Vegas Pro). Not a fan at all. Im picking up a digital camera from Vivitar that it says its 10.1 megapixels so we will see if it really is.

  • @ToXicTubeTV I would not recommend anything from Vivitar. They are an economy brand with cheap, low quality products. Either save up your money for something better, or look around for a used camera from a good name brand (Kodak, Canon, etc.).

  • its not hd when u use windows movie maker tho

  • @OriginalKIDZsk8tCrew Correct. That's why in this video I only show the VGA and QVGA footage. I directly uploaded the HD footage into a separate video, with no editing.

  • do u get a disk with the camera with editing software on

  • @OriginalKIDZsk8tCrew Yes, it comes with software, but I didn't use it. I just used Windows Movie Maker to make this video.

  • Mine is wierd. I need help man. The sound is off from the move ment. Check my channel out to see wat I mean, kk.

  • Thanks, this was a big help

  • thanks for the clip

    i don't want one now

  • i wanna see it in "720p" u know its actaul best quality!

  • @simonpaul2 Do you not read or listen? I have the 720P HD test video attached as a response to this one.

  • how much did it cost???

  • @simonpaul2 I say it in the video.

  • ughhh, hate the battery part . , iwas gonna get this tomarrow but nevermind

  • @berryjuice103 same

  • I know I hate how you have to put batteries in it. Get the canon fs300 you don't have to put batteries in it. You can charge it

  • I have a question, If I record on High definition and end up playing in standard definition devices. Does it look better than If I had recorded it on standard definition right from the star?

  • With a "real" HD camcorder, yes. But with this Vivitar, definitely not... even a 10-year-old VHS tape camcorder will beat it hands down in terms of overall video and audio quality.

  • what about the SD memory?? its not included but my question is, it must be 8gb?? or what?

  • @CatLiddel It takes SD cards *up to* 8 gigs. You can use 1, 2, or 4 gig cards.

  • yea its 8 GB

  • lucky i have a vivitar 865 HD and when i press the power button it will say sensor failed please help thank you

  • @marioluigi1864 Please contact Vivitar for help. I don't work for them and I don't know anything about that model.

  • Drats well enjoy your camera :)

  • @vwestlife how did you record directly from your camera i mean lil how did you get it to show what you did directly

  • @ps3gamesforlife I used a video capture card.

  • @vwestlife WHAT KIND

  • @ps3gamesforlife It is an ATI TV Wonder Pro.

  • can i know the music title from 7.00 to 7.55?

    thnk you veyr much

  • @wallaguest1 It is music from an old early 1990s video game called "Ultima VII". I'll send you the link to download the MP3.

  • i just got mine today 2/7/10

     its alright

  • do you think it would be good for recording basketball games

  • @tbone072892 No, this camera is not really good for recording anything!

  • is that picture of you leening agenst the mercadeas-benz

  • can you plug in external microphone? or do you have to use the built in one?

  • There is no external mic jack.

  • What are the titles of your other vids ?

  • can u put a lens cap on it if not does anyone no any cheap HD camcorder u can put a lens on

  • Lens cap? It does not come with one.

But I looked on your channel and I see you are yet another skateboarder obsessed with camcorders... LOL. So you probably mean a fisheye lens, not a "lens cap." In that case, you would need one that has some way of being clipped or glued on, as like almost all cheapo cameras, the Vivitar does not have threads for a screw-on lens.

  • thanx ive made my decision

  • which is better the hd webbie or the vivitar 810HD

  • ANYTHING is better than the 810HD. Low-budget HD cameras from Kodak, Samsung, Insignia, Creative, Flip, and Sony all have much better performance than anything from the "cheapo" brands like Vivitar, DXG, Aiptek, and Polaroid.

  • @vwestlife Polaroid and Aiptek are good remember Polaroid mad the Polaroid Camaria with the self devloping pictures

  • At this point, Polaroid is just a name. They don't design or make their own cameras anymore. Just like no-name brands like Jazz, Insignia, Digital Concepts, and DXG, they just contract with Chinese manufacturers to put the "Polaroid" brand name onto certain models of cameras, which are also sold by other companies under other brand names.

  • @Monkeymoviesinc sony has released their new boogie series with full hd unlike the webbie

  • I have this camera, and IT STINKS! If your buying Vivitar buy the DVR 565HD. Sad to say, its now only available online, I think.

  • im getting a better improved version of that for christmas

  • whats the name of it?

  • Vivitar DVR 840XHD i already got it

  • HI, I seen one at walmart for the same price, Vivitar DVR830XHD Digital Video Camcorder. Do you think it takes good videos and pictures, or is the camcorder not real good. Also can you edit videos using like my sony vegas 8 Pro. Please let me know. Thank you. I rate your video five star.

  • Please read all the comments below. I have repeated my opinion of this camera many times.

  • I was asking about the Vivitar DVR830XHD, its a little different than yours, You have the 810. I just wanted to know if you knew anything about the DVR830, but thanks anyway. And I did read comments, I read most of them, and was about the one you had. But anyway thanks.

  • THANK YOU!! i got a camera that had no name and i didnt know what it was and now i kno its a vivitar camera! except mine is black!

the reason i didnt know was it didnt have a name on it!

  • i just bought this earlier today!

  • I was looking at this camrea when i was in Office Max and i talked to the a man working there. He flat out told me it doesn't come with much. Quality isn't that important to me, as long as it isn't pixelilated to the point where you can't see anything. I need an inexpensize camrea that can be editted with Window Movie Maker. I am thinking about this one.

  • If your computer has a FireWire port (also known as Sony i.Link or IEEE-1394), then a MiniDV tape camcorder is a much better choice. For a little more money (such as $109.99 for the JVC GR-DA30 on Newegg . com) you get image stabilization, optical zoom, auto-focus, and stereo microphones. And any version of Windows Movie Maker works flawlessly with MiniDV camcorders.

  • Thanks, I'll have to look into that!

  • im buying the camera

  • there is really no point, this camera is most likely a very cheap ccd or cmos sensor. Save up and get a gs120 which is a 3ccd camera for $150

  • i got mine at shpko for 70 dollars u payed 10 dollars more

  • im 12 and on the info u sed its good for children so i mase well get it as my first camera!

  • im going to get it

  • Got to give a shout-out for the Ultima Music. Iolo rocks!

  • Nice

  • can you put fisheye lens on it?

  • Maybe you can tell me, why are skateboarders so obsessed about camcorders and fisheye lenses? It seems like every time I try to find a review of a certain make and model of camcorder on YouTube, it's a video of someone skateboarding. Anyway, there is no thread on the Vivitar's lens, so if you want to attach anything to it, you'd have to find some way to glue or tape it on.

  • fisheyes make the clips look cool

  • haha chilout man its wat skaters do im getting this cam to film skateing

  • Fisheye lenses fit more into the shot... alot more.. thus the Filmer can get close up and have the whole skate in it. It also makes gaps and things look longer.

  • you can put a fisheye lens

  • I don't think this camera is quite as bad as you say, I've gotten some decent video out of it and for the price it's really not bad. The thing I don't like about it is that there is no operating manual. It had a quick start manual with it that claimed that the full manual was on the disc, but on the disc I found nothing but the video editing programs that you get with it. Anyone know where I can find a little more about how to use the menus on this thing? So far I like it but I need more info!

  • Do you NEED an sd card?

  • Yes, you do need an SD card. There is no built-in storage memory.

  • Ok thank you

  • hey can you upload videos to windows movie maker. on this and is it hard to upload with it. will it work with my vista

  • Yes, you can open and edit its videos with Windows Movie Maker (XP or Vista). In fact, that's what I used to make this video.

  • alright thanks

  • yeah boght it today

  • is this really a good high quality camcorder with extras with manuals.

  • Not, it is not good or high quality. For $20 extra ($99.99) there are much better choices out there: Kodak Zi6, Creative Vado, RCA Small Wonder, Best Buy's Insignia camcorder, DXG 567V, etc.

  • the quality is really good depending on the lighting like outside its reall good but if its darker it sucks balls

  • Actually I like this camcorder, even though hd isn't so good. I was actually impressed by the VGA mode though and the zoom, I think this is a little better than the Flip Ultra.

  • canyon.midi YEY ^__^ old school.

  • Standard def. video on my Canon S3 IS digital camera looks way better than this digital video camera in HD. Plus the Canon camera I have has really nice high quality stereo mics. The only thing is my camera was 300 bucks but it's well worth it.

  • I thought about attaching my Digital camera to my bike handlebars but though the dust, wind, grit and dirt would muck up it's lens workings.

so I bought one of these cheap cams for that purpose.

  • Well, it's small. I'll give it that.

Can't wait to see what it does in HD.

  • That background music during the feature demonstration was so 1980's! Not bad for an $80 digital video camera but I saw the lens on the front which looks really cheap like it was from a webcam.

  • The song is a remix of the classic "CANYON.MID" from Windows 3.x. Google "virt canyon" to find a site where you can download an MP3 of it.

Trust me, if you want decent quality video you are much better off getting a Kodak Zi6 or even Best Buy's Insignia camcorder for $99. The Vivitar looks and feels impressive for its price, but its video quality is pretty bad.
