"Paris of the South, Miami of the Mountains and Ashevegas"
Funny that you say that, because my cousin who lives in Asheville has actually referred to Asheville as Ashevegas. I'm attending there for my first year this Fall. I'm SO stoked. I'm looking forward to embracing new cultures, music, and starting to make a proactive move in the world of protesting. :P
I lived in the same dorm room for three years. Aycock Dorm. Back then UNC-A had only 1200 to 1300 students. It's amazing how time passes. Seems like yesterday. Now I have two kids in college.
I graduated from UNC-A 30 years ago. Loved the place. Still do. Vance Hall was there then. All the other small dorm buildings to the right and left of Vance Hall
@creekpanther ... Are you talking about governors village? all the single room dorms? the haven't been torn down yet. but in the next year they will be renovating them...
I don't know. When I was there we had only the very small buildings around Vance hall, nothing over three stories. I lived in Aycock Dorm for three years and, later, Scott. A lot of the rooms were one person but some people had roomates. I never had a roommate the four years I was there. A lot has changed since then. The last time I was on campus was a couple of years ago
I visited the campus last year and really liked it. I felt like the atmosphere was very creative and people seemed friendly, but I really wondered your opinion on -- WHY Asheville? What makes Asheville the best :)
Hey Magic. Lets just say the city Asheville and UNCA really changed me. It made me into a backpacker, got me into live music, made me experience different cultures and a wide array of friends across the spectrum. Before Asheville, I never thought I'd enjoy bluegrass music, join a protest and be more cultured. "Paris of the South, Miami of the Mountains and Ashevegas"...you'll soon know why Asheville has these nicknames.
Are you blind? The sculptures you mentioned marked with artist and date. the second is by Dan Millspaugh, a former sculpture professor.
