They last longer. There's a group of guys in my town who all own 90's Rams with diesel engines, all of them are over 300,000 miles, and they still run fine. None of them have had to rebuild the engines due to breakdowns or problems. Cummins is a better engine than Duramax or Powerstroke, get the fuck over it.

It is still a 6.7 isb cm2150 with egr and aftertreatment. It is a rear gear train design where as the dodge engine is front gear train. The programing is all through cummins. J1939 instead of obd2.

@OneillSurf7 1st of all i didn't say 14.1 is slow.. secondly thats a 2011 and just because its new doesn't mean anything. that new truck has some serious performance robbing parts on it mostly all exhaust related(dpf,cat,ect..) and not only that the ford has a speed limiter were as the other truck probably does not and from what i can tell.. as far as that dodge being 10 or more years older has nothing to do with it.. i've seen a 12v putting out 500 hp easy and not even doing much to it.....

well that's a sad showing for a cummins, probably had some sticks and an edge juice with attitude and a stock turbo, and quite possibly a manual transmission, ford still finished 2 seconds behind it, and remember that Powerstroke came with 400hp at the crank and the cummins came with maybe 245hp at the crank stock with a 6 speed manual

Except... the Dodge has been modified pretty extensively, and the Ford is bone-stock. Not only that, but I'd wager that the Dodge is lighter. These two trucks aren't even comparable.
I guarantee that with a tune and DPF delete, that Ford would bury anything comparable. The new 6.7L Powerstroke is the best engine with the best transmission, don't believe the hype.

OH WOW ! My Dodge with twin stacks ran a 14.1 in the 1/4...that is sooooo fast......NOT! His favorite movie isn't Deliverence is it ? Yes the P.S. still has a looooong ways to go to get a good reliable powertrain/engine that people will trust. But please for the love of God, don't think that just because a truck has stacks means it's fast. When that truck gets down to the low 12's or 11's...thats fast for a 7000# + truck.

@idismoker Cummins does have an exclusivity contract with Dodge you fucking idiot, that is why neither Ford or Chevy have it in their light heavy duty trucks., The engine that comes in the f650's is a different engine design. It is still a 6.7 isb cm2150 with egr and aftertreatment. It is a rear gear train design where as the dodge engine is front gear train. The programing is all through cummins. J1939 instead of obd2.

@rob2283 2 seconds is alot on a track... if you think a 14.1 is slow for a truck you're an idiot. It's not the fastest time but definitely not slow. Besides that 2010 FORD should be able to beat a dodge that is probably over 10 years old. Props to the Dodge, even though it wasn't a mindblowingly quick time it still did good for having the extra weight of the lift kit and oversized tires and being 10 years old.

@OneillSurf7 1st of all i didn't say 14.1 is slow.. secondly thats a 2011 and just because its new doesn't mean anything. that new truck has some serious performance robbing parts on it mostly all exhaust related(dpf,cat,ect..) and not only that the ford has a speed limiter were as the other truck probably does not and from what i can tell.. as far as that dodge being 10 or more years older has nothing to do with it.. i've seen a 12v putting out 500 hp easy and not even doing much to it.....
